-"BUT I WANT TO HELP!" Steve repeated for the fifth time while Hopper prepared to leave. It was about 10:44, to be exact, and it was quitting time.

-"I already told you kid, things could get dangerous. I don't need to be responsible for you too."
The older man huffs while zipping up his coat.

-"I know, but I'm...."

-"Don't give me any of that "I'm willing to take the risk" crap. It's stupid." Hopper rolls his eyes before opening the door and walking down the steps to his car.

Steve runs after him. Stopping at the drivers side door and rubbing his hands over his arms to keep him warm.

-"Come on J- Hopper."

Jim sighs. Tried, of life, tried from lack of sleep, and tried of the stubbornness coming from Steve.

-"Look, if I find anything out, I'll let you..."

-"Well you sure didn't tell me right way when they found Stella's "corps"."
Steve sasses back before placing his hands on his hips.

That got Jim upset, who did this kid think he was?!

-"Listen here Harrington, you stay out of this. Go to school, be the king you are, have a beer, smoke a cigarette, do whatever. But don't you dare interfere with this situation. And that's an order."...........

Things didn't get any better for Steve after Hopper left. He had made of fool of Johnathon Byers for taking pictures of him and his friends the night Stella went missing. He hadn't been spending quality time with Nancy, and he felt that he should make it up to her... right now.

So he hopped in his fancy BMW and drove over to his girlfriends house. He attempted to "be stealthy, like a ninja" again, and climbed up to her window.

When he did, he saw something that he wished to never witness again. The sight of Jonathan Byers, sitting on Nancy's bed, wrapping his arm around her, hurt him deeply. And the fact that Nancy thought nothing of it, made him feel as if she had just ripped his heart into two.

-"I JUST... I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DIDN'T COME BACK."ย  Mike says with a sigh. He purses his lips into a thin line before breathing out through this nose.

The two- instead of three- boys were now biking in the middle of the street in the Wheeler boy's neighborhood.

-"She's gotta be close." Dustin tries to comfort his friend. They all were going through dark times, and he aspired to be the guy who "looked on the bright side".

-"She said it wasn't safe. She just messed up the compass because she wanted to protect us."

Mike rambles on, El being the only topic on his mind. He sighs before continuing on,

"She didn't betray us."
He continues, lost in thought.

-"Mike, calm down." Dustin raises his voice. Mike didn't need to lose his mind over a girl.

-"I shouldn't have yelled at her. I never should've done that." He rants, completely ignoring Dustin's instructions. First he drove Stella away, and then El. Was he really a terrible person?

-"Mike, this isn't your fault." His friend tires to comfort him.

-"Yeah, it's Lucas'." Mike says with a huff. Maybe he wasn't such a terrible person after all.

-"It wasn't his fault, either."

-"It wasn't his fault?" Mike repeats aloud in shock. Someone had to be blamed for this, and El wasn't going to be the culprit.

-"No." The curly haired boy confirms confidently with a shake of his head.

-"So you're saying he wasn't way out of line?" Mike questions, anger starts to boil in his chest.

-"Totally, but so were you!" Dustin answers back slightly annoyed with his friends current attitude.

-"What?!" Mike responds in shock, completely not having it with Dustin.

-"And so was Eleven."

That was it.

-"Oh, give me a break!" Mike rolls his eyes and pedals faster away from Henderson.

-"No, Mike, you give me a break!" The other boy yells while speeding to catch up with him.

"All three of you were being a bunch of little- never mind- but you're all at fault!"

The curly haired boy lets out a puff of air before continuing, he certainly wasn't finished.

"I was the only reasonable one."

He pauses and glances over at Mike. He sighs before lowering his voice and saying a bit more softly.

"But the bottom line is... you pushed first. And you know the rule. You draw first blood..."

Before he can continue, he's cutoff by Mike's frantic yelling.

-"No! No way! I'm not shaking his hand."
Wheeler states with determination before pedaling even farther away from Dustin. He keeps a straight face to prove his point and doesn't look behind him.

-"You're shaking his hand!" Dustin makes up his mind for him. He mutters something under his breathe about how bratty Mike could be.

-"No, I'm not." Mike sasses back. Dustin grows angry and pedals rapidly towards Mike. He gets ahead of him and places himself in front of the Wheeler boy to prevent him from going anywhere.

"Come on man!-...."

Mike complains while slamming on his brakes.

-"This isn't a discussion. This is the rule of law. Obey or be banished from the party. Do you wanna be banished?"

Dustin speaks firmly and with confidence. He wasn't going to have Mike be banished from the party because he wouldn't shake Lucas's hand. In his mind, that seemed ridiculous!

-"No." Mike lowers his head in defeat. He liked to be the one who usually won the argument in the end.

-"Good." Dustin nods in approval. He then turns around and pedals back the way they came.

-"Where are we going?" Mike questions a bit annoyed while repositioning himself to follow Dustin.

-"Where do you think? We're going to get Lucas." He looks over his shoulder to see Mike's face, except it didn't hold the facial expression he thought it would.

Instead of sulking, or showing any signs of anger, his face held a look of pure concern. Henderson could tell by the way the his lips were parted, how his eyes were slightly squinted, and he didn't resemble someone who seemed mad.

The curly haired boy inhales and looks ahead. He knew what was wrong with his friend. He slows down so that they're ridding side by side now and sighs before adding.

"And then we're gonna find Eleven."

-"What do you want?" Lucas says in an icy tone towards his friends who stand at his front door.

Mike sighs before looking over at Dustin. The other boy nudges him forward slightly so that he would hopefully be motivated to talk.

-"I drew first blood, so..."

-"Okay, I'll shake." Lucas interrupts abruptly, something about his tone told the others that he wasn't finished speaking.

"On one condition." He continues making Mike grow nervous. What could Lucas possibly say?

"We forget the weirdo and go straight to the gate." He finishes with placing his hands on his hips and giving his friends a slight nod.

-"Then the deal's off." Mike exhales through his nostrils. He squints his eyes and looks the other boy in the eye.

-"Fine!" Sinclair yells back with the same energy Mike was sending off.

-"Fine!" Wheeler mocks by also copying Lucas's actions.

-"No, no, not fine! Guys, seriously?" Dustin yells, the two boys hold eye contact until Dustin pushes past them and into Lucas's house. The autumn air was starting to give him goosebumps. Before continuing on with a story the three knew so well, he sighs.

"Do you even remember what happened on the Bloodstone Pass? We couldn't agree on what path to take, so we split up the party and those trolls took us out one by one. And it all went down. And we were all disabled! So we stick together, no matter what!"

-"Yeah, I agree. But this is the party, right here in this room." Lucas paces the family room while speaking in a very "matter-of-factly-tone".

-"El is one of us now." Mike says while trying to keep his cool. What was so awful about her anyway?!

-"Um, no, she's not. Not even close! Never will be. She's a liar, a traitor--..."

-"She was just trying to keep us safe! She didn't mean to hurt you. It was an accident!" Mike defends the girl. In his mind, Lucas was being extremely unreasonable.

-"An accident?" Sinclair says aloud sarcastically. He folds his arms over his chest as he waits for Mike to make up some ridiculous excuse.

-"All right, accident or not..." Mike bites the inside of his cheek to keep him from smiling. He didn't anymore need harassment from his friends about a girl that he might possibly.......

"admit it, it was a little awesome."

-"Awesome?" Lucas questions with a high pitched voice. His eyes go wide and he stands still, waiting for Mike to continue, explain himself.

-"Yeah, she threw you in the air with her mind!" Wheeler exclaims, his anger slowly starting to fade away. It must have been the memory of El....

-"I could have been killed!" Lucas cries, trying to convince the other boy that what had happened to him, clearly wasn't funny.

-"Which is exactly why we need her. She's a weapon! Do you seriously wanna fight
the Demogorgon with your wrist rocket?"

Mike places his hand on his hip whilst he waits for Lucas's response. When he doesn't say anything quick enough, he adds.

"That's like R2-D2 going to fight Darth Vader.
We're no use to Stella and Will if we're dead."
He finishes with nod, mentally congratulating himself for being "quick-witted".

-"If you two wanna waste your time looking for a traitor, go ahead, 'cause I'm not spending my time on her anymore. No way!"
Lucas makes an "x" with his arms and then crosses them outward. He holds a look of pure determination in his eyes.

"I'm going to the gate. I'm gonna find Stella and Will." He adds with furrowed brows.

The other two boys shake their heads and hang them low as they walk out the door. Lucas remains in his position until they're gone. Once the door the completely shut, he takes off for his room in order to prepare himself for battle.

โ•ฐโ˜†โ˜†

-"This is weird without Lucas." Mike speaks aloud to Dustin. He and the other boy where current pedaling away from Lucas's. They had tired, but failed, so now they had to move on to the next mission on the agenda, operation find Eleven.

"He should've shaken my hand." He adds growing flustered. Dustin could sense this, and instead of saying something comforting, he spoke the truth.

-"He's just jealous." He says bluntly.

-"What are you talking about?" Mike asks in shock while turning to Dustin with raised brows.

-"Sometimes, your total obliviousness just blows my mind." Dustin shakes his head with a sigh.

"He's your best friend, right?"

-"Yeah... I mean, I don't know." Mike looks ahead, but still listening intently to the boy beside him.

-"It's fine. I get it. I didn't get here until the fourth grade. He had the advantage of living next door. But none of that matters." Dustin pauses to take a breath, leaving Mike filled with curiosity about what he was going to say next.

"What matters," he continues,
"is that he is your best friend. And then this girl shows up and starts living in your basement, and all you ever want to do is pay attention to her."

He finishes with a nod before waiting for Mike's response, he hopped he'd have one.

-"That's not true."
Mike speaks his voice lowering by each word.

-"Yes, it is. And you know it. And he knows it.
But no one ever says anything until you both start punching and yelling at each other like goblins with intelligence scores of zero."

"Now everything's weird." He finishes with a sigh. He presses his lips into a thin line before licking them.

-"He's not my best friend." Mike says with each word his voice growing louder.

-"Yeah, right." The curly haired boy says with a chuckle.

-"I mean, he is, but so are you." Wheeler corrects himself quickly. He didn't want Dustin to think that he wasn't a good friend.

"And so is Will." He adds confidently.

-"Can't have more than one best friend."

-"Says who?"

-"Says logic."

-"Well, I call bull on your logic, because you're my best friend, too." Mike glances over at his friend. He watches for his reaction, which is just a simple closed mouth smile and a slight nod.

-"Okay."ย

โ•ฐโ˜†โ˜†

-"El!" Dustin shouts. His hands cupped around his mouth.

The two boys had been searching for at least a half an hour now, and still there was no sign of their lost friend.

-"Eleven!" Mike screams. There was absolutely no way that she was far away. She just had to be nearby.

-"Eleven! El!" Dustin repeats, his voice growing louder every second.

-"El!"

"Eleven!"

"Eleven!"

Mike echos himself by constantly shouting her name nonstop. He places his hand over his chest to catch his breath.

-"Hey, stop. Do you hear that?" Dustin asks his friend whilst panting. The Wheeler boy sends him a confused look and closes his eyes to listen more closely.

-"What?" He questions, not hearing anything that seemed abnormal. Although the sound of crunching leaves, and snapping twigs changed his mind quickly.

"El!" He calls out, hoping that it truly was her and not their imaginations, or someone else....

"El?" He says again, this time it's more of a question when the sounds become heavy, a bad feeling settles in his stomach as the two boys stood still with their bikes. The two share a glance which expresses the same thought.

-"Hey, there, Frogface." Troy greets them with an evil grin. His friend James stands next to him with the same evil look.

"Toothless." Troy adds with the voice he made up for Dustin.

-"Crap! Run, Mike!" Dustin yells

-"What?" Mike exclaims, his brain not responding to Dustin's command quick enough.

-"Run! Come on!" Dustin yells, already ahead of by at least ten feet.

-"You're dead, Wheeler." Troy taunts as he and James chase after the other two.

-"Move, Mike!" Dustin yells behind him. Mike was trying to pull his bike along with him, and it was slowing him down immensely.

"Mike, come on, run!" Dustin shouts with encouragement, also hoping that he'll forget the bike, their lives were at stake.

No further words were exchanged between the two boys fleeing for their lives. Heavy breathing, panting, and gasps were all that was heard from the two.

"Cramp!" Dustin yells with a groan out of breath.

-"Just keep going!" Mike encourages, he's now ahead of him and running as fast as his legs would allow him to.

Dustin responds with a grunt while trying his best to keep moving. They didn't know what would happen to them, but they knew that Troy was ruthless.

"Keep going!"

Mike and Dustin run out of the woods and head towards Sattler's Quarry. They didn't mean to, but they had no choice.

-"Crap!" Mike exclaims when he realizes that they are trapped. Troy comes out of the woods from left, and James, the right.

-"Stay back!" Dustin threatens, hoping to strike some fear into the bullies.

-"Don't come any closer!" Mike warns. With a grunt, he grabs a large rock and chucks it at James in hopes of keeping him away. But alas, the rock was only throw at least only a foot forward.

-"Nice throw, numbnuts." James scoffs sarcastically while stomping towards the Wheeler boy quickly.

A yell, some grunts, and groans could be heard from behind Mike. He whips his head around just in time to see Dustin caught in a head lock by Troy, with a knife over his throat.

-"Get off! Get off me!" Dustin pleads, fear coming over him quicker than ever before.

-"Let him go! Let him go!" Mike commands. Fear could be seen in his eyes. He steps forward in hopes to help Dustin out.

-"Stay back, or I cut him!" Troy threatens with evil dancing in his dark eyes.

-"What do you want?" Mike yells in response. Feeling completely helpless, but wanting to appear strong, strong for Dustin.

-"I want to know how you did it!" Troy answers while moving about to keep Dustin in his grasp.

-"How I did what?" Mike questions, with confusion.

-"I know you did something to me. Some nerdy science crap to make me do that."

-"You mean piss your pants?" Dustin responds. His voice growing in confidence with every sentence.

"Our friend has superpowers, and she squeezed your tiny bladder with her mind." He almost laughs at the last part. That is, he would've if he wasn't caught in a head lock by Troy.

-"Shut up!" Troy snaps at him. He tightens his grip around Henderson's neck and Dustin let's out a groan.

"I think I should save Toothless here a trip to the dentist. Help him lose the rest of his baby teeth." Laughs Troy with pure wickedness lancing in it. He brings his pocket knife up to Dustin's mouth and towards his teeth. Dustin lets out a shrill shriek and tries to wiggle his way out of the bully's tight grip.

-"Let him go. Let him go!" Mike yells as loudly as he can, trying to seem intimidating.

-"I'll let him go, sure. But first... it's your turn."
A smirk grows on Troy's face as he speaks. Dustin continues to pant uncontrollably as the other boy keeps his knife close to his teeth.

-"My turn for what?" Mike continues to yell in the same loud tone. He thought it was working, intimidating the others, but it really wasn't.

-"Wet
