A few weeks later

We were walking through the busy streets that were buzzing with people to buy some baby clothes and other things for Kiara.

I named her Kiara because one of its meanings is 'God's gracious gift.' She is a gift that I received from god. I had a huge argument with Gia and Gorge regarding her surname.

They suggested that she should take my surname but I was against it. But ended up agreeing.

So her name is 'Kiara Rylie Ashton.'

She is now officially a member of our Moonlight Foundation, we legally admitted her.

We were done with my shopping, I bought everything for her. Right from baby formula, pink shoes with cute butterflies, baby blanket, crib, baby product, and what not. I requested a salesperson for direct delivery.

We were heading towards a boutique where Lilly usually buys her dresses.

"Umm... You know, papa recently received a proposal from his mate regarding our marriage." She says fiddling with her finger.

"Our marriage? You and me?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Umm..Don't mind me saying this, but I'm not into that kind of relationship." I was mentally rolling on the floor with laughter.

She went red. "You- you bitch!" She stomped my foot. "It's not you, you evil witch! It's Ian, Ian Agnello O-"

"Eww. What a weird name, it's so big and mouth full." I teased her.

"I fucking dare you to say that again," she warns me.

"Okay-Okay. No need to get offended now, continue with what you were rambling."

"You know Bri? Ever since the day I met him, it's -it's like he's bewitched me into his magical yet beautiful trap, I smile like a kid looking at the smallest thing that I would have never noticed otherwise. His eyes are in the deepest shade of blue just like the crystals in the queen's crown.."

"Hmm." I cut her off because her words were flashing images of Liam in my mind.

A simple word to kill the conversation.

"The problem is that he hasn't agreed to this proposal, but his father assured me that he would talk to him."

She huffed before proceeding "Like, who on earth wouldn't want to want a girl like me?" she almost yelled in frustration.

Whirling my head towards her I ask "Who are you, Queen Elizabeth?" I struggle to suppress the laugh that was threatening to come out.

She smacked my head "It's not funny." she whines.

"Yeah," I reply, in a bored tone while rubbing my head.

"So, what I was saying is that-... She was unable to complete her sentence, as I cut her off.

"What if he wants you, because you are your father's daughter, and not because you are you?"

She was silent for a few seconds, so I just continued. "They are all bloody selfish, Ted. Everything that shines is not a diamond, remember."

"My father wants it too, and his decision and his choice for me has never gone wrong and never will. I've already started accepting him, he's my future."

"What about love? are you okay with being someone's trophy wife?"

As soon as that sentence left my mouth, that bitch pinched me hard. So hard that, I might have a purple bruise on my right arm.

"What the hell, Ted. I swear to god if I see any bruise on my arm, you gonna have it from me." I threaten her.

She just rolls her eyes. "Then don't strive to change my mind, women!"

"Fuck you. Get married and have kids with this so-called Lian, you have my blessing." I grit out and walked a few steps ahead of her.

"It's Ian," she yelled.

"Yeah, whatever." I waved her off dismissively.

After our small argument, we walked inside the boutique and started searching for a perfect dress.

"How is this one." She asked me holding out a bottle green tulle gown, with a smile as sweet as sugar.

I could tell that she is trying hard to win me back, after our small argument with her sweet smile. The truth is I wasn't angry.

The dress was beautiful and elegant, just like her. I smile at her in agreement. Soon her smile turned into a grin as she knows that we are back to normal.

After ten minutes she came back holding a red gown that was even more beautiful than the other one.

Any other girl in my place would have been jealous of her and her luxurious lifestyle, but not me, not for once I felt jealous of her or imagined to be in her place. The only time, I felt bad was on our high school graduation day, when her parents were there with her.

Her father was so happy and proud of her, and her mother had tears of happiness. I was supposed to be happy that day, but I wasn't. I had no one to call mine, and I ended up crying the entire night.

Soon we were done with our shopping and it was almost dinner time. So we headed towards a small cafe to have our dinner. We took our seats and ordered our food.

Just like any other day, I ordered my favorite Spicy cumin lamb noodles and for dessert, I went for chocolate chip walnut cookies.

We had our dinner while gossiping about celebrities and a few of our college mates' love stories.

Then out of blue, she asked me about Liam."Ugh..umm...for how long you gonna ignore Liam?"

Her question caught me off-guard, as I didn't have an answer for it. "I thought I made it clear that we will not talk about him, So stop playing cupid." I tried to keep cool.

Ever since our last date, I have been avoiding him like a plague. It is not because he showed his interest in me, it's because, since that day, everyone in our college started giving me dirty looks and called me with colorful names like a gold digger.

Even though it hurt me deeply, I never showed it on my face. I ignored them because I did not want to give them the satisfaction of knowing how much their words affected me.

Then I questioned myself 'for how long you will ignore what others say?' So I did the one thing that I thought was right. I ignored him.

I know I am being stupid to let myself get affected by what others say but I can't help it.

He tried to talk to me, but I'll just run away from him making excuses every time.

He once called me from an unknown number, because he very well knew I wouldn't pick up if he called from his own.

He tried to ask me why am I running away from him after that special evening. He even said that we can be friends, if I want and not involve in any kind of romantic relationship.

But again I gave him a poor excuse saying Kiara was unwell and I am a bit disturbed because of that.

I was so into my thoughts that I almost forgot about a living being sitting in front of me. I snapped out of my thought when I heard Lilly's phone ringing.

She excused herself and went out and I start playing with my food.

She came back after some time, we finished our dinner and made our way towards her car.

Soon we reached my apartment, I hugged her tightly and bid my goodbye for the night. "Good night Ted, call me when you reach home. See you tomorrow."

"Okay, Mama" she replied chuckling.

I entered my building and unlocked the door using my key and there Emily laying on the couch in a very weird and awkward position while watching TV.

I took a nice warm and relaxing shower before snuggling into the warmth of my bed.
