"Hey, you okay?" Ian asked as I laid in my warm bed making me nuzzle my head in my pillow. "We have school today." He stated as I continued to stay silent staring out my window.

"I'll see you later." Ian said defeated after a few minutes realizing I wasn't going to speak. A tear slid down my face remembering the images of last night, but I also couldn't help but think about our parents accident.

How long where they alive for after the drunk driver hit them? Did the driver stop? Were they in pain?

I had so many questions buy now I know the answer to one. Because now I know what they experienced. What they heard and saw before their last moments alive.

"Since when do you stay home from school?" Ethan asked behind me making me frown as he came into view. "What's wrong?" He asked softly as he saw the tears falling down my cheeks.

"What are you doing here?" I asked barely above a whisper as he squat down to my eye level. "Ian let me in." Ethan answered as he sat on my floor in front of me.

"How long have you been in bed?" He asked again making me shrug lightly. "What time is it?" I asked softly before he looked at his phone.

"Almost three." Ethan answered making me look out the window behind him again. "Seven hours." I answered making me look down at Ethan to see him staring at me trying to study me.

"Is this about last night?" He asked making me look away from his gaze. "I'm fine." I lied barely above whisper making him frown.

"You didn't answer me." Ethan stated as I continued to look away from him in silence. After a few minutes of him waiting for me to speak he stood up and lifted the blankets before he slid under them next to me.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I let him pull my waist towards him. "I know you have things you keep to yourself and I am guessing right now is one of those things. But you don't have to explain anything to me. I can wait." Ethan answered as I eased against him loving his warmth and cologne.

I smiled softly against his chest as I resumed looking out the window at the birds flying by. The sun started to set making me realize it was getting late.

"You can't tell anyone." I stated finally breaking the silence. "What?" He asked as he shifted against me.

"You can't tell anyone." I repeated as I continued to look at the sun setting. "Okay." Was all Ethan said making a tear slide down my face as I brought up the courage to confess to him.

"Ian and I's parents died four years ago." I confessed as I supressed a sob making him stop running his hand up and down my back. "I worked two jobs because I had to take care of him-Ian myself. We couldn't risk getting separated in foster care. I-I had just lost both my parents and I couldn't risk losing my brother also." I explained quickly begging him to understand. But for some reason I knew to trust him with this information and to understand.

"I'm so sorry." Ethan said after a few seconds of absorbing my words as I sat up to look at him. "They died in a car accident. Drunk driver." I continued as he looked into my eyes with intense sorrow and guilt.

"That's why last night affected you so much." He stated more than asked making me look away from his deep brown eyes. "You can't tell anyone." I pleaded as my voice broke making him sit up.

"I won't." Ethan promised as he held me close as I cried against his chest. He rubbed my back soothingly as I let out soft sobs.

I felt a huge sense of relief at being able to finally tell someone. I knew it wasn't rational to trust a man who I only met a few weeks ago but I couldn't help it. I knew that he has been hiding things about his life with me and I don't expect him to share them with me.

But it means a lot to me the fact he is understanding of what Ian and I have been doing. And promising to not tell anyone. I knew I shouldn't have but I trusted him.

I woke up to the sun rising making me yawn before I saw a note on my nightstand. 'Sorry you woke up alone. I hope to see you at school today. -Ethan' It read making me smile as I traced my fingertip along his neat handwriting.

I threw the blankets off me before I stood up. I stretched my back realizing I have been in bed almost a whole day. I quickly got ready in my normal outfit consisting of a band tee shirt with a cardigan and a pair of skinny jeans.

I threw my hair in a bun before I grabbed my book bag and headed downstairs. I was met with Ian eating cereal as he leaned against the kitchen counter.

"Morning." I said as he placed his bowl in the sink before he looked up at me. "Are you feeling better?" Ian asked making me uncomfortable at how worried he is about me.

"You ready?" I replied as I grabbed my keys making him nod as he grabbed his backpack. "What time did Ethan leave yesterday?" I asked as I drove us to school making him shrug as he looked down at his phone.

"I don't know. I was in bed when I heard the door close." Ian answered making me frown in confusion. Ethan left late at night? I thought before I pulled into the parking lot.

"I'm hanging out with Blake and Lily after school." Ian said as we walked to the school building making me nod lightly. "Tell Lily I say hi." I teased making him roll his eyes as we opened our lockers.

"Halloween is this weekend." Ethan stated as he walked up to me after Ian left. "I'm aware." I stated through my smile as I shoved my books in my bag.

"Someone is throwing a party we should go." He said as I closed my locker making me scoff lightly. "No way." I replied making him smile brightly as he rolled his eyes.

"What were you planning on doing then?" Ethan asked as he leaned against the lockers and shoved his hands in his pockets. I tried to prevent myself from drooling over him as I replied, "What I do every year." I answered making him shrug as he tried to fight his smile.

"Which is?" He asked amused making me roll my eyes lightly. "Ian usually goes out with friends so I just watch movies at home." I answered again making him smile weakly.

"I'll pick you up on Saturday then and we can watch them at my house." Ethan said as we started walking to class making me chuckle lightly. "What if I don't want to?" I asked making him laugh lightly beside me.

"Are you saying you don't want to?" He asked amused making me blush lightly. "No." I answered making him chuckle.

"Then it's a date." Ethan said as we stopped walking at our classroom door. "I-I mean not a 'date' date. Just two friends... hanging out." He rambled as I smiled up at him trying not to laugh.

"Calm down. I know what you mean." I assured as he relaxed slightly before the bell rang making everyone rush to their classrooms. Ethan and I walked in class and sat beside each other as students began to fill the desks.

"Stop staring." I said as I felt him staring at me making him clear his throat. "I wasn't." He replied making me smile to myself as the teacher began to speak.

"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" Ethan whispered as we took our English test making me frown. "No." I replied as I continued to look down.

"Why?" He asked making me roll my eyes. "You're kidding right? You see how everyone treats me here. You're the only guy brave enough to talk to me." I answered quietly as I look up at him slightly before I continued working.

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked again making me roll my eyes. "Can't we talk about this later?" I whispered annoyed as I answered a multiple-choice question.

After everyone in class finished their tests the bell rang making our teacher tell us about our homework as we left. "What did you mean earlier?" Ethan asked as we ate lunch making me shrug lightly.

"Ever since I started high school, I was considered an outcast. Even to the other outcasts. I started school with a couple friends, and I hung out with them. But after I decided I didn't want to hang out with them anymore, I was alone. I didn't have any other clique to hang out with. This school only has three groups: jocks, the popular people and the rejects. And me being me didn't fit in with any of them. So, when I started hanging out by myself or with Ian and his friends occasionally, they all created rumors about me." I explained as I continued to eat my macaroni and cheese.

"And it doesn't help that I'm sarcastic and rude to everyone." I stated as I scoffed lightly to myself. "So, no guy has ever wanted to date me. Which I'm fine with. They are all losers anyway." I continued making Ethan chuckle lightly making me look up at him.

"Yeah, the girls here told me about you when I started." Ethan said making me frown in confusion. "Then why did you try so hard to be my friend?" I asked making hm shrug as he ate his messy sandwich.

"You seemed interesting." He said making me scoff lightly through a smile. "Sorry to disappoint." I replied as I played with my food as I felt his eyes on me making me look up.

"You didn't." Ethan stated sternly making my lips part as my stomach filled with butterflies. The bell ringing stopped us from our thoughts immediately making us look away from each other.

"Why don't you drink?" I asked again as we leaned against our cars. "Don't see the appeal." He answered not looking at me as he took a drag of his cigarette.

"Yet you smoke." I stated making him smile as he exhaled. "It's not the same." He chuckled before he continued. "Does it bother you?" Ethan asked making me shrug lightly.

"It bothers me that you'll probably die from it." I replied making him roll his eyes as he took another drag. "Lots of things could possibly kill me." He stated making me scoff softly.

"But that is a for sure possibility." I continued motioning to his cigarette in his hand making him roll his eyes lightly again. "Fine," Ethan said as he dropped his cigarette and stepped on it. "I'll quit. Just for you." He teased as he failed to fight his smile making me roll my eyes.

"You'll thank me in thirty years when you won't be able to talk without coughing every five seconds." I said making him chuckle as he leaned against his car again and shoved his hands in his jean pockets.

"Why did you get into fights at your old school?" I asked ignoring the possibility that he might become distant. "I sort of went through the same thing you are. But except taking all the comments and rumors I beat up the guys who spread them." Ethan answered making me frown.

"Why? You beating them up won't change anything." I said confused making him look down at me in admiration. "Maybe, maybe not." He replied as he looked away making me do the same.

"I'll see you tomorrow." I stated as I grabbed my bag from the hood of my car and walked towards my door. "Do you work today?" Ethan asked as I unlocked my car.

"Yeah, in an hour." I answered as I threw my bag on the passenger seat. "I'll grab you dinner then. When are you off?" He asked making me smile as I looked up at him.

"Nine." I answered before I slide in my car making him close the door for me. "I'll see you at nine then." Ethan stated making me smile wider as I tried to fight it before I turned the car on.

"Bye." Was all I said before I drove out of the parking lot. "What the hell has gotten into me?" I muttered to myself as I felt butterflies erupt in my stomach as my heart swelled.

"So, who was the guy the last time you were here? He was so hot." Clare said as I wiped the tables making me roll my eyes as I tried to fight my smile. "Ethan. He's just a friend." I stated making my heart ache lightly at that sentence before she spoke.

"Oh, please. I saw the way he looked at you!" She beamed with a smile as she looked up from filing her nails. "What do you mean?" I asked confused looking up at her with a frown.

She was about to reply but someone walked in making her put her nail filer down as the older woman walked towards her. "Hello. Just one?" Clare asked making the woman follow her towards a booth.

"Do you think I can talk to Rick about getting more hours?" I asked Clare as I placed the cleaning supplies under the register. "Sure. Samantha actually quit the other night when an older man grabbed her ass." Clare said as she chuckled softly making me roll my eyes.

"Gross." I stated as she nodded continuing to file her nails. "So, there really isn't anything between you and that guy?" She asked uncertainly with a smug smile. I rolled my eyes ignoring the warmth from the thought.

"Yes, I'm sure. Someone like him couldn't like someone like me anyways." I stated ignoring the sadness in my voice making her stop filing. "What is that supposed to mean?" Clare asked offended making me shrug.

"His family is rich. His only problem is keeping his grades up. I don't have a family and my problems are making sure we don't get evicted and starve on the streets." I stated leaving out the part about our parents being dead.

"That doesn't mean that you two can't be more than friends." She stated seriously making me shrug. "It's a miracle I haven't scared him off yet." I said through a soft chuckle making her roll her eyes.

"Shut up and enjoy the male attention. I've been dating the same girl for three years. Sometimes I wish I was single for a day so I could-" Clare started until the door opened making her stop as I laugh.

As soon as I saw the group that walked in, I instantly stopped. I had seen the two familiar popular girls from school smirk at me making me fill with embarrassment. They all sat down in a booth before Clare spoke.

"You okay?" She asked making me nod as I tore my eyes away from the group. I grabbed four menus before I walked over to them.

"What do you want to drink?" I asked as I took out my notepad. "Sprite." One of the guys said making the other say the same thing before one of the girls spoke.

"Oh, your left-handed. What's that like?" She asked in a high-pitched girl voice making me look down at her. "Like writing with a different hand." I replied making her frown as the guys chuckled lightly.

"We'll just have water." The other girl said making me nod before I walked away. I quickly filled their drinks as I held all four against my chest as I walked back over to them.

"Do you know what you want to eat?" I asked making one of the girls cut off the guys. "Do you have any vegetarian and gluten free options?" She asked looking down at her menu making me roll my eyes.

"A salad." I answered annoyed making her hum in reply. "We'll have two of those." She said ordering for her friend again making me write it down.

"A burger with no fries." The blonde guy said making me nod before the other spoke. "Same but can I have extra fries." He said making me nod before I put my notepad back in my apron.

I was about to walk away when one of the girls spoke again. "Is it true?" She asked making me frown. "Is what true?" I asked making the girls giggle as the guys smirked.

"That you had a threesome with Blake and Ethan."
