It was now the day before Halloween as everyone at school talked about the parties they were going to tonight and tomorrow. I just ignored them as I opened my locker to grab my books when someone walked up to me.

"Come over after school." Ethan said to me making me fight my smile. "Good morning to you too." I replied sarcastically as he leaned his shoulder against the lockers looking over me.

"Good morning." He said making me roll my eyes as I continued to fight my smile. "Why?" I asked closing my locker as I looked up at him.

"Need help with English." Ethan answered making me nod lightly as I held my books to my chest. "Okay. Only if you help me with math in return." I negotiated making him chuckle down at me showing off his bright smile.

"Deal." He replied making me smile before I saw two girls gossiping as they glanced at us. "Don't they have anything better to do?" I asked annoyed making Ethan look at them. The two girls instantly bowed their heads making me roll my eyes.

"What were they doing?" He asked making me look away. "Doesn't matter. I need to try to find Blake after school before we study." I stated making him frown down at me confused.

"Why?" Ethan asked making me sigh lightly before I raked my fingers through my hair. "I need to ask him his side of the story. The girls at the diner said that he spread the rumor, but Ian said he hasn't said anything about it. That he has just been ignoring it. Either way I need to know so I stop stressing." I explained as we started walking to class side by side.

"It won't change anything. They will still continue to gossip." Ethan stated making me frown knowing he was right. "I know. But it doesn't matter as long as I know the truth." I replied making him nod as we stopped walking as we met with our classroom door.

"What is your favorite color?" He asked after a few minutes of silence making me smile up at him. "Why?" I asked making him roll his eyes. "Just answer the question." Ethan demanded making me chuckle as my stomach did summer salts.

"Green." I answered honestly before I continued. "Can I know why now?" I asked annoyed making him smile down at me as my brain turned to mush.

"No." He answered making me roll my eyes. "What's yours then?" I replied making him chuckle. "Red." Ethan answered but before I could push him further, the bell rang making him chuckle as he walked in the classroom.

"I don't get this." Ethan whispered to me as we took our science test making me look over to him. "They are asking for you explain the five main branches of chemistry. Organic, inorganic, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry." I started as I pointed to his test across from him.

"Organic chemistry is the study of carbon and its compounds, the study of the chemistry of life. Inorganic is the study of compounds not covered by organic chemistry; the study of inorganic compounds, or compounds that don't contain a C-H bond." I finished quietly before I continued my own test making him reply.

"What about the rest?" Ethan asked making me smile lightly. "I'm not going to give you the answers. Just try to remember what we learned this week." I said not looking up from my test as I filled in the multiple choice.

He stayed silent before I saw him finish his test a few minutes before me making me scoff lightly realizing he didn't need any help.

"You're such a liar." I stated as we waked to the cafeteria making him tense beside me. "You didn't need my help. You easily completed it before me." I continued as he instantly eased beside me before he replied.

"I wanted to see if you were as smart as you claim." Ethan said making me roll my eyes. "I don't claim I'm smart." I replied making him chuckle.

My eyes widened slightly as I saw Blake talking to Trevor in the empty hallway. I made my way over to them ignoring Ethan before I spoke to them.

"Can I talk to you?" I asked him making Trevor walk away from their conversation. "H-Have you been hearing what people are saying about us?" I asked him making him smirk down at me as I frowned in confusion waiting for an explanation.

"Yes." Was all Blake said making me frown further. "Did you have something to do with it?" I asked him trying to sound confident making him laugh down at me in amusement.

"I thought you'd be pleased." Blake stated making me scoff before he continued. "Now everyone wants to date us. Before everyone feared you but now, they see you as someone who was lucky enough to have sex with the two hottest guys here. Now they don't think you have a stick up your ass anymore. Maybe now someone will want to have sex with you. You should really thank me." He said making me look up at him in utter disbelief as my lips parted in shock.

"Thank you? You did not spread that rumor for my benefit. You spread it for yours." I spit out making him shrug as he continued smiling down at me. "Does Ian know what you did?" I asked hesitantly making him laugh again.

"Oh, please. He would freak out if I told him. Ian can't even ask out my sister let alone understand why I would do it. Such a prick." Blake chuckled out making me fill with rage and annoyance.

I let my book bag fall off my shoulder hitting the floor before I collided my fist with his nose. He instantly stumbled backwards holding his face as I shook my hand not realizing how much it would hurt.

"Bitch!" Blake beamed as he saw my impact made his nose bleed making Ethan rush over to separate him from me. "You're an ass." I spit as Ethan grabbed my shoulders to calm me down.

"Let's just go. He isn't worth it." Ethan said to me as Blake tried wiping the blood from his nose. Ethan picked up my bag as I started walking away from Blake's angry stare.

I muttered profanities as Ethan, and I ate making him fight his smile. "What?" I asked rudely making him lift his palms in surrender. "Nothing." He said through his smile making me frown as I stabbed my fork in my salad.

"I just didn't think you had it in you to punch him." He confessed making me roll my eyes. "Why because I am just a weak little girl?" I asked sarcastically making him frown down at me.

"You are not weak." Ethan stated sternly making me look down at my salad. "I just didn't think you would punch him is all." He said making me shrug lightly as I continued to stab at my lettuce aimlessly.

"He called Ian a dick." I replied before I took a bite making him frown. "He also said rude things about you to you." Ethan stated making me shrug again as I finished my lunch.

"I'm used to it. It doesn't bother me." I stated making me groan inwardly as he continued to frown at me in confusion. "This isn't the first rumor I've had to deal with." I explained making him part his lips to reply before the bell rang cutting him off.

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked as we walked to our next class. "Apparently I have given blowjobs to the whole football team and they paid me for it. We had sex and you paid me for it. The only reason you hang out with me is because I am blackmailing you." I started nonchalantly as we walked side by side.

"I work at the diner because Ian and I parents are dead beats. At least they got one thing right in that rumor." I joked coldly making him frown as we stopped walking. "They say all those things about you?" He asked making me scoff lightly as I looked around the busy hallway.

"It's the only way they don't feel bad for what they have been doing." I explained as I looked at the two girls and a guy talking by their lockers. "Them two are gay but they are hiding it from everyone since she in dating him. The other girl wants to tell people but the other is afraid for what people will say and do. So, they are both in the closet together. They were the ones who spread the rumor about me blowing the football team after I saw them making out in the bathroom." I said as I saw their hands brush against each other's making the girl with the boyfriend pull away.

"He has been copying off my history homework for two years. When I finally said something, he told me that I was actually copying off him before he told everyone that you paid me to have sex with you." I continued as I motioned to the red head wearing a letterman jacket talking to his friends.

"He asked me out freshman year and I turned him down making him spread the rumor about our parents and why I work. I could go on." I stated as I looked up at Ethan again. He was looking at all the people I pointed out before he looked down at me. "Why don't you say something? How they all just lied." Ethan asked making me smile up at him in amusement.

"Why should I? It won't change anything. They will still continue to spread nasty rumors of me. Besides it's not like any of them are true." I explained making him look down at me in confusion and amazement.

"We're gonna be late." I stated as I felt unfamiliar feelings from his gaze making me uncomfortable. I looked around to see the hallway thinning out before I walked into the busy classroom with Ethan behind me.

Ethan and I were now chatting outside school by our cars when my phone rang making me stop laughing to check it.

'I'm sleeping over Blake's. I'll see you Sunday.' Ian texted making me roll my eyes. "Sure, no need to ask first." I mumbled sarcastically to myself as I started to write back.

"What is it?" Ethan asked as I texted Ian before I looked up at him once I finished. "Ian. He's sleeping over Blake's until Sunday." I answered making him nod lightly.

"Didn't you want to study?" I teased after he leaned against his car making him chuckle. "Right." He said as he stood straight before he opened the passenger door for me.

"Milady." Ethan said as I walked up to him making me chuckle. "Milord." I replied before sliding in the car making him smile as he closed the door.

"Why did you ask for my favorite color?" I asked as he drove making him chuckle. "You really don't like not knowing the answers to things, don't you?" Ethan teased making me fight my smile as I looked away.

"No." I agreed making him continue chuckling. Ethan and I were now walking into his home when someone called out for him in the kitchen. "Hey, honey! Come in Frank has to talk to you about-" His Mother started before he interrupted.

"Amelia is here." He stated making me frown lightly as we walked into the kitchen. Was he simply telling her or was he warning her?

"Oh, hello." She said to me making me wipe off my frown to smile back. "I hope I'm not intruding." I stated making her wave her hand lightly.

"No, of course not. Did Ethan tell you about the party we are throwing tomorrow? You are welcome to come." Cynthia said through a smile making me nod lightly. "Thank you." I replied ignoring the man, Frank, confused glances.

"And your parents. I would love to meet them." She continued as she looked up at Ethan making me realize they think we were dating. I was about to reply when Ethan spoke as he grabbed my hand.

"We're going upstairs." He stated as he pulled me out the kitchen making me roll my eyes. "You don't have to be rude. Your Mom is just being nice." I stated as he closed his bedroom door and threw my bag on the bed.

"She mentioned your family. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable." Ethan said making me roll my eyes playfully as my heart filled with warmth. "If I broke down every time someone mentioned them then people would obviously think something was wrong." I replied making him frown as he took a step towards me.

"Have you grieved for them?" He asked seriously making me frown. "I-I cried-" I started until he interrupted. "Crying for them is different than grieving for them." Ethan stated making me look away as I tried to think.

"Then no. I guess I was so preoccupied with Ian and figuring out how to get jobs and making teachers at school think they survived the crash. T-That whole year I kept everything together as people their condolences thinking the survived and were waiting for us at home. After school I-I would see Ian crying on the couch or in his bedroom. That whole month he didn't go to school or leave the house. I would comfort him while I kept it all inside. He needed someone strong. So, no, I guess I-I just- I just kept all it inside." I answered before I looked up at his eyes that held so much hurt and sympathy.

"You don't have to keep it all inside anymore." Ethan stated making me frown as my eyebrows tensed. "Yes, I do. No one can know. If I skipped a month of school grieving the whole school will know something is wrong with me. Ian will be confused as to why now four years after it has happened, I am grieving. He already thinks I have." I stated honestly making him frown in confusion.

He was about to reply again as his lips parted when I interrupted him not wanting to talk about this anymore. "Didn't you want to study?" I asked again as I raked my fingers through my hair not looking at him.

Ethan walked over to the bed as I started to follow before the door opened revealing Sarah. She smiled at me widely making me do the same as she spoke.

"Hi! You two 'studying' again?" Sarah asked making me chuckle as Ethan grunted in annoyance. "Yes." I stated making her smile slyly.

"If you say so." She replied making my face fill with warmth as Ethan threw a book at her. Sarah easily dodged it as she laughed before closing the door.

"For a basketball player you suck at throwing." I teased as I walked towards the bed making him smile confused. "How'd you know?" He asked making me scoff as I looked around his room.

"I wonder?" I replied sarcastically as I picked up one of his basketball trophies with his name on it. Ethan just chuckled as I placed it back before sitting across from him.

"The English test is on Wednesday. It's about the-" I started as I opened my book before he interrupted me. "Why don't you want to know why you were kidnapped?" Ethan asked making my lips part slightly as I looked up at him.

"Or-" He started to continue before I cut him off also. "I just don't." I answered not wanting to talk about that night as I looked back down at the book in my lap.

"It is about Macbeth again but-" I started until he interrupted me again making me sigh. "Why?" Ethan asked again making me close my eyes closed for a few seconds.

"Because if I talk about what happened then it will mean that it is all true. What he... did actually happened. I don't want to face that right now." I confessed as I looked up at him making him frown in confusion.

"Why? Did they do something else?" He asked again making me look away. I realized Lucas didn't tell him what was happening as he saved me. I pushed away the memories of that man's skin against mine before I lied.

"No."
