"What?" I breathed out making the guys try to hold their laughter. "So, it is true! I told you. Give me my five bucks." The red headed girl said making me shake my head.

"N-No, it isn't true." I said not sounding very convincing making the girls smile up at me. "Don't be shy about it. If anything, it makes you more interesting that you could have slept with the both of them. They are both so extremely hot." She giggled making my lips part.

"I can assure you they are just my friends." I pushed making her shrug as she looked up at me. "That's not what Blake said." She replied making me tense my eyebrows. I was about to ask what she meant when I heard the bell ring telling me someone had walked in.

I walked away to give their order to the cooks before I turned to see the group wasn't looking at me. I quickly sat behind the counter making Clare frown down at me.

"What the hell are you doing?" She asked amused as she sat on the counter next to me making me shush her. "Don't look down at me!" I whisper yelled making her laugh as she painted her nails.

"What are you doing?" She asked again not looking away from her nails making me groan. "That group is from my school. I can't face them right now." I explained making her nod lightly.

"I'll take them off your hands if you want." Clare said as she continued making me sigh. "Thank you. I normally wouldn't but I doubt they'll give me a tip." I said making her chuckle not looking away from her red nails.

One of the cooks ringed the bell telling us the food was ready making Clare hop off the counter. She grabbed the plates as she placed each one on a sever before she walked out of my view.

After a few minutes of me sitting on the dirty floor alone she walked back over and sat on the same spot. "They asked what happened to you." Clare said as she continued painting the rest of her nails.

"What did you say?" I asked making her shrug. "I asked who Amelia was." She answered making me laugh lightly trying not to draw attention to us.

I was about to reply when someone spoke behind the counter I was hiding behind. "Is Amelia here?" Ethan asked Clare making her point down at me.

I looked up at Ethan leaning over the counter smiling down at me full of confusion and amusement. "What are you doing?" He asked trying not to laugh making me groan inwardly.

"Is it nine?" I asked them making her nod as she looked up at the clock. I quickly sat up before I walked in the back. I clocked out as I hung up my apron before I met with Ethan waiting for me as the group stared at us.

"Let's go." I said to him as I grabbed my bag from under the counter making him frown. "Aren't you hungry?" Ethan asked making me nod as I walked around towards him.

"Yes, but not here. There is a reason why the food here is so cheap." I said making Clare laugh behind me. Ethan smiled as he took my bag before he spoke. "Okay, then where?" He asked as we walked to the exit making me shrug before someone spoke.

"Tell Blake we say hi!" One of the girls joked making me look away from them as Ethan frowned. I continued walking as he did the same.

"What was that about?" Ethan asked as we walked away from the building making me groan inwardly. "Nothing." I answered as he caught up to me making him grab my hand to stop walking.

"What-" He started again until I cut him off as I pulled my hand away from his. "There is a rumor that we slept together. With Blake." I mumbled the last part to myself as I looked away from his face making him frown.

"Who's Blake?" Ethan asked making me shrug. "One of Ian's friends." I answered making him frown again. "Why would they think that?"

"Apparently Blake is the one that told everyone." I replied as I finally looked up at him to see confusion and anger fill his eyes. "He told everyone? Why would he do that?" Ethan growled making me flinch at the anger etched in his voice.

"I don't know. He always seemed nice." I said as I looked away from him. "I'm going to kill him." He said through his teeth making me frown as I met my eyes with his.

"Don't say anything, Ethan. It will just make things worse. I will ask him about it tomorrow. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding." I said trying to calm him down making him nod as he slowly eased. "Fine." Was all he said as he raked his fingers through his light brown hair.

"Can we go eat now? I'm hungry." I asked in fake annoyance making his features soften as he smiled lightly.

"What does your family do for Halloween?" I asked picking up one of my chicken tenders as he ate a burger. "They go all out for it. They host a party every year with our family and friends where we dress up as people from different eras." Ethan started making me smile softly as I looked up at him.

"They bob for apples and give out candy. One year they even had a maze in the backyard. But too many kids got lost so we never did it again." He chuckled softly as I continued to smile loving the sound of his voice.

"My parents exchange gifts with the other parents before-" Ethan started before he stopped making me frown. I quickly realized he felt uncomfortable talking about his parents as I saw guilt in his eyes. "You don't have to walk on eggshells, Ethan. I won't break down at the mention of someone else's family." I stated as I looked down at my plate.

"You're right. I'm sorry." He replied honestly making me nod lightly. "Are they throwing their party this year?" I asked as I looked up at him making him roll his eyes.

"We aren't going." Ethan replied making me laugh as he tried not to smile at me. "Who says I wanted to go?" I asked hiding the fact I want to making him chuckle before he ate a French fry.

"I would just like to see how the upper class celebrate Halloween. It's purely educational." I joked through my smile making him laugh. "It's extremely boring." He said making me roll my eyes.

"I would like to be the judge of that." I stated making him groan as he realized I won. "Fine." Ethan whined making me smile brighter before I stole one of his fries.

"You'll have to borrow one of Sarah's costumes." He said making me nod as we started finish eating. I grabbed my wallet to pay when Ethan beat me too it, making me frown. "At least let me pay for my half." I negotiated making him shake his head as he placed his credit card with the bill.

"No." Was all be said making me roll my eyes. "There is a math test next week." Ethan stated as we walked to back to the diner making me smile in confusion.

"I'm aware." I stated through a soft chuckle before he continued. "Do you want me to help you study? You said you weren't good at math." He asked nervously making me smile again as I replied.

"Sure. Thank you." I said as we continued to walk down the street. "Are you work after school tomorrow?" Ethan asked making me shake my head.

"No, not until Monday." I said trying not to sound too disappointed before we finally made it to our cars. "I'll meet you at your place after school then." He stated making me nod as I smiled lightly before I opened my car.

"It's a date." I teased through my smile as he rolled his eyes making me laugh as I slide into my car.

"Goodnight." I said to him through my open window as I closed my door making him smile down at me.

I drove home in silence as the cold wind from the open window blew against me. I soon made it home instantly making me ease not waiting to go to sleep.

I saw the door was cracked open as I went to unlock it making me frown. "Ian, you left the door open." I stated as I walked inside. I was met with the living room light on making me roll my eyes.

"I would appreciate it if you wouldn't ignore-" I started in fake annoyance until I saw two men in the living room as one pointed a gun at Ian making me drop my bag and keys.

One man had pitch black hair with two full sleeves of tattoos as the other was blonde with one tattoo on his wrist. My eyes widened at the image I saw before me when I spoke.

"What the-" I started as I saw the men staring at me making me step back. "Are you Amelia?" One of the men interrupted making me step back again until he pointed his gun at me.

"Well?" He asked again making me nod. "Y-Yes." I answered hesitantly as I took a step towards the small decorative table next to me.

"I understand you have been getting very close to, Ethan. No?" He asked as I gripped the letter opener behind my back. "Who?" I played dumb making the other smile at me amused.

I remembered that I hadn't locked the door if I needed to run out and call for help. I looked up at them again as he replied.

"Don't lie, love." He demanded in a smug voice making a chill run down my back. "What do you want?" I asked trying to sound confident but failing.

The man who was pointing the gun at me lowered it as he started walking up to me. Every step he took I filled with anxiety and fear making me want to bolt out of the front door. But I couldn't leave Ian.

"You." He stated in a deep voice. He tilted my chin up with the tip of his gun making me tense as I looked down at it with fear. Before I could reply he knocked me out with the gun.

Ethan's POV

"Are you done stalking that chick?" Lucas asked me as we walked inside. "I'm not stalking her." I stated in annoyance making him scoff as he closed the door behind him.

"Then what do you call waiting outside her home and work all day?" He asked as I collapsed on the couch. "I need to make sure she isn't in danger. If people find out I'm... hanging out with someone who knows nothing about us, then they will hurt her to get to me." I stated as he poured himself a drink.

"Then stop hanging out with her." Lucas replied making me frown at the thought. "I can't do that." I said barely above a whisper making him look at me confused.

"Why? What's the deal with her?" He asked making me sigh as I raked my fingers through my hair. "I don't know. She isn't like anyone I've met." I explained making him roll his eyes as he sat on the chair across from me.

"She's just like everyone girl you've dated. But unlike them she doesn't know what we do." He said before he took a swig of his liquor making me frown. "Yes, but she isn't like every other girl. Amelia's different. She's better." I stated as I looked away from him hating how pathetic I sound.

Lucas was about to reply when my phone went off telling me I got a text. My heartbeat faster hoping it was from Amelia making me frown at the unknown number.

'We have your precious girlfriend. Give us your last three shipments and we will give her back. Yours truly, Pistol Pete.' It read making my lips part at the attached photo.

My heart broke as I saw Amelia unconscious as she sat tied in a chair. "What is it?" Lucas asked noticing the fear and worry on my face. "I was right. They have Amelia." I answered before I looked up at him making his face soften as his lips parted. I showed him the text and photo he sent making him scoff. "That's still the most ridiculous name he could have given himself. He sounds like he belongs in some old cheesy western movie." Lucas stated annoyed as I turned away from him as I continued to worry and think of a solution. I couldn't risk anything happening to her.

"What do they want?" He asked after a second realizing how scared I was making me fill with annoyance. "The last three shipments." I answered making him scoff again as I turned to face him shoving my phone in my pocket.

"You've got to be kidding." Lucas said in disbelief making me shake my head as he turned away to take a drink. "What are you going to do?" He asked making me rake my fingers through my hair roughly.

I tried to shove my feelings for Amelia aside trying to keep it together to think of a plan.

"We need to find out where she is and storm the place without them noticing. Once one of us finds her we need to make sure she is safe and get her out of there before she sees anything." I said calmly making Lucas nod as he grabbed his phone. "I'll call everyone and tell them to come over." He stated making me nod looking away.

The image of Amelia was burned in my mind as I continued to think to myself as Lucas spoke into the phone. Her work uniform was ripped at the hem as her beautiful dirty blonde hair fell around her shoulders. Her forehead had a bleeding cut making me fill with anger at the thought of them hurting her.

These past few weeks with her has been the most fun I have had in so long. Probably ever. I have smiled and laughed more just from being around her and the things she says. Her smile and laugh makes me smile and laugh. She makes me feel things I have never felt before.

My heart warms whenever I see her. My stomach fills with butterflies whenever she smiles or laughs up at me. My brain turns to putty when she says my name or touches or brushes up against me. She does the littlest things that make the biggest impact on me.

When we danced together at the party, I couldn't keep my hands off her. Her hips swaying side to side against mine felt like they belonged there. Her hand in mine and her eyes burrowing into mine feels like they belong there. But nothing surprises me more than what she told me last night. What she has been doing for her brother for four years. She would rather work hard and have no social life than risk losing the only family she has left.

I just wish Ian understood all Amelia has given up for him. How hard she works and how she thinks of him before herself. When she asks if he is okay and if they should go home after him being too drunk. She is doing that because she cares so deeply for him. But he just thinks she is an overprotective sister.

He spends all his time with his friends while Amelia works her ass off trying to put food on the table and keep a roof over his head. It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen from anyone. I have no idea what it feels like to worry about money and what to buy with it, but I will do everything in my power to help her. That's why I had to lie about the money I gave her.

I knew she would only take it if I told her it was from Ian's gun. So, that's what I told her. Part of me feels guilty for lying but the other part of me knows I had to. I needed to make sure she would be okay after she lost her second job.

I had to lie to her about the money and about my parents to protect her.

I need to lie to her because if I tell her the truth, I am afraid she will never look at me the same away again.
