Imagine finding out someone you thought was dead, is actually alive. How was Jessie alive?! They still couldn't wrap their heads around it. And why would someone do that? Pretend they're dead and break their friends and families hearts.

"We're ready." Colton said through the phone.

"Alright, text me when you get something." Liam said and hung up.

"I'm so excited I love following people." Lana said.

"Who have you followed?" He asked.

"This is embarrassing, before I started dating Jake, I followed him to his house, so I could 'accidently' bump into him." She said.

"Wow. How are you by the way? About the whole thing?"

"I'm fine. I'm just glad I figured it out."

"For the record he doesn't deserve you. I'm glad you broke up with him. You are an amazing girl Lana and you deserve someone who loves you with all his heart." He said putting a piece of hair behind her ear and leaning in.

"Thanks." She whispered looking down at her lap.

"Look at me." He said putting a finger under her chin and raising her eyes to his level.

And just as their lips moved closer for a kiss, Lana backed away.

"She's out." She said looking outside the front windshield at the girl they were ready to follow.

Colton cleared his throat. "Let's follow the bitch." He said and waited for Carla to get in the car and followed after her.

They drove until Carla stopped her car in front of the entrance of the woods and parked in front of it, and Colton parked away from her so she wouldn't notice. She got out of her car and put her phone to her ear and started talking, but the words were unable to reach their ears.
After hanging up the phone she looked around to see if anyone's there, then she walked into the woods and disappeared further inside.

Colton and Lana followed not much longer after her and stopped when they saw Carla talking to someone hidden behind a tree.
They exchanged glances and moved to a closer spot to get a better look at the mysterious person, with hopes that it's Jessie. Lana immediately texted the information to their group chat and both of them slowly made their way towards Carla and the mystery person.

They were so convinced that the person was Jessie, they were already ready to see a long curly red hair, white skin, and a sundress on a girl they thought was dead, but much to their surprise, the person hidden behind the tree was the complete opposite to what they were expecting to see.

Behind the tree was a tall man, with black skin, and a bald head, and a smirk they have grown familiar to.
Behind the tree was the man who wanted to put an end to their lives, the man who wanted to put them away for a false accusation of murder. The man who oddly cared more about them being in jail than solving the murder case.
Behind the tree was the one and only detective Keegan Matthews.

Lana immediately snapped a picture of the two as evidence and sent it to their group chat. The two left shortly after that with a million questions in mind.

"Keegan, it was Keegan." Lana said once they were in the car.

"I know Lana, I know, breathe." Colton said and drove off back to their house.

Once they were safely home, they told Bethany and Liam what had happened.

"What were they saying? Did you get anything?" Bethany asked.

"No, we couldn't get any closer." Lana said.

"What?" Liam exclaimed.

"Liam, we already risked our lives!" Colton said.

"Did they see you?" He asked.

"No, but if we had gotten any closer, they would have, that's why we didn't hear anything." Lana explained.

"That's okay, at least we got something." Liam said.

"But what? What do we have? What is going on? Why is Carla secretly meeting up with Keegan?" Bethany asked.

"Maybe Keegan is not who he said he is." Colton said.

"What do you mean?" Liam asked.

"Well, we thought we knew Jessie, but turned out she was a completely different person. What if Keegan is not who he says he is either?!" He said.

"I think it's time to do a little research on our famous detective Keegan Matthews." Lana said opening her laptop and getting down to business.

***

Lana had no classes that day, so she stayed home to find out who Keegan actually is, Bethany left for class early and Colton and Liam left together shortly after Bethany.
Liam's class had ended and he was walking to his next class when his phone rang.
He looked at the number, but didn't recognize it. After a few rings, he pressed the answer button and brought the phone up to his ear and responded.

"Hello?"

"Hello, is this Adam Larson?"

Liam stopped walking and rearranged the phone on his ear with a confused expression, then realised who was speaking from the other end of the line. His eyebrows shut up and his mouth formed an o, and he finally answered.

"Yes, this is him."

"I'm speaking from the Los Angeles Medical Center, your copy of the results are ready, you can come by at any time."

"Okay, thank you." Liam said and hung up the phone.

Without even thinking, he got into his car and drove to the hospital, when he walked in, the same receptionist welcomed him with a warm smile.

"Mr. Larson is that correct?" She asked.

"Yes." He said.

"I'll be right with you." She said and disappeared for a few seconds only to come back with a white envelope in hand.

"Here you go." She handed him the envelope. "Congratulations."

"Thank you." He said with a smile and left.

As soon as he was out of the hospital door, he ripped open the envelope, smirking to himself, that he pulled it off.

A smile made its way through that smirk when his eyes darted to the results of who the father was, but soon disappeared when another name they didn't know would be there was also written on the piece of paper.

He looked up with an angry expression, looking like he could kill someone, then folded the paper and put it in his bag and drove back to campus.

***

"What is so important you wanted us to leave class for?" Bethany asked.

"And why isn't Lana here?" Colton asked.

"Because I got the results of the paternity test." Liam answered.

"And?" Bethany said happily.

"Adam's the father."

"Wow." Colton said.

"And now we also know who the mystery guy is." Liam said pushing the piece of paper on the table towards the others.

They both looked down at the written name and fell into the same reaction Liam had fallen into when he had seen it.

The living room was just as they had left it. Lana was still in the same position since morning when they had left for class.

"Lana? Did you even move since we left?" Bethany asked.

"No, how can you move when you find something like this." She said standing up and bringing the laptop to them.

"Holy crap L, what did you do?" Liam asked as he saw millions of tabs open on the screen.

"I did what I could do and finally found something." She said.

"And that is?" Colton asked.

"Keegan is not a detective. He's an actor." Lana said and immediately caught their attention. "At first I just typed in his name on Google, and Keegan Matthews, LAPD detective still has no lead on Louis murder case headline came up, then I started snooping more and there are over 65 Keegan Matthews but none of them are the Keegan we know."

"So how did you find out?" Bethany asked.

"I hacked into the police files again to find if they have anything on him, but there isn't a file named Keegan or Matthews. I found it weird that they don't have a record of the detective handling the most important case, so I hacked into the security cameras again, to see what he's doing, but he wasn't there, there are cameras on each and every officer's office, and there's not an office by the name of Keegan." Lana continued.

"It's like he's a ghost." Colton said.

"Exactly, so I logged into the police station's website and there was no information on him, when all the other detectives and officers have sorts of information on them, so I took a photo of him and searched him with his photo, and this came up."

"You've been watching a lot of Catfish." Liam said.

"I know, and it's paying off." She said and opened up the page she was talking about.

"Ronald Carson, a local theater actor." Colton read out loud.

"He's not even from L.A, he's Canadian, and pretty famous in their local theater." Lana said.

"So that's why he met with Carla in the woods." Bethany analyzed. "She and Jessie had clearly hired him to play detective so they wouldn't have the real police finding out anything."

"That's why he was so determined to charge us the murder instead of looking for actual evidence, we were the plan all along, those sons of bitches wanted to blame everything on us." Liam said angrily.

"Jessie planned and faked her own death and we were bound to go down for it." Lana said.

"But why? What did we ever do to her?" Colton asked.

"Nothing, exactly what they needed. Innocent people to keep the police busy as they carried on with their lives." Liam said nodding his head as pieces of the puzzle came together.

"Well the real police are really stupid for not figuring this out." Bethany said.

"Then it's time to make them figure it out." Colton said with a smirk.

***

At the Police Station.

"Excuse me can I talk to an officer in charge, I have some information I need to share." Lana said.

"About who?" The lady behind the glass window asked.

"About detective Keegan Matthews." She answered.

The lady gave her a confused look then called an officer to come down.

***

"Miss Jefferson?" The officer asked.

"Yes that's me." Lana stood up from her seat.

"My name is officer Josh Herman. I believe you have some information on our detective Keegan Matthews?!" Josh asked with a confused reaction.

"Yes I do, have you by any chance heard of Ronald Carson?" Lana asked with an amused smile playing on her lips.

"No, I have not I'm afraid so." Josh replied.

"Then let me enlighten you." She said and followed officer Josh Herman to his office and told him everything about Keegan, from A to Z.

***

At the House.

"Breaking news, Keegan Matthews has been arrested for posing as a detective, LAPD are on the case as to why Matthews posed as a detective. His real identity has been released, Ronald Carson, a Canadian local theater actor. A new detective has been assigned to the case of Jessie Louis, detective Josh Herman." The news reporter said as the four watched her.

"He should thank me. He got promoted from officer to detective." Lana said as they turned down the volume.

"Don't you mean us?" Bethany asked sarcastically.

"Well yeah but I found out about Keegan." She said with a cocky smile.

"Ugh, I hate it when you get cocky." Bethany replied back.

"Now the police are really going to find out about everything, the sorority, the pegnancy, Adam, Jake, Carla, the rape, everything." Colton said.

"Good, it's time people knew the truth." Liam said.

Lana's expression completely changed when she heard Jake's name.

"I'm fine." She said when she saw her friends staring. "It's just, I didn't want to hear his name again today."

"Lana-" Colton started.

"Not now." Bethany cut him off. "I know what you're gonna say."

"If there's something else I should know, tell me now, before it's too late for me to forgive you for keeping it a secret." She said.

"I'd rather you see it." Colton said as Liam handed her the paper.

A single tear rolled down Lana's cheek and she quickly wiped it away with the back of her hand.

"Jake's the mystery guy, he was with Jessie more than once, they had a thing going on." She said to herself out loud.

"I'm sorry." Colton said.

"Why are you sorry? You didn't cheat on me! He should be sorry, when we find Jessie alive, I'm the one that's gonna kill her."

After Lana calmed down by the help of the others, they talked about what was gonna happen when the police find out about everything. The first thing was the diary, and in the diary they were going to find everything. They had to make it seem like they don't know anything. But Colton was persistent to hide some details.

"Colton, that's their problem." Lana said.

"Yeah but Melanie helped us, and now we know the police are gonna find out about them, shouldn't we at least give her a heads up?!" He replied back.

"A heads up is fine, but dude, you're talking about hiding evidence, we're not dealing with Keegan anymore, Josh Herman is no actor, he's gonna do his job, and he will find out that something's missing and when he does you're gonna go down for it, and if you go down, we go down with you." Liam explained.

"Fine, forget that. At least let her know what's coming so she'll prepare." He said.

"Why do you care so much? It's not like it's still going on, she said she shut it down when Jessie died." Bethany said.

Lana sighed heavily and went to the kitchen, Bethany sensing something's wrong, followed her best friend.

"Spill the beans Jefferson. Why are you huffing and puffing? I sense you're trying to tore down someone's house, uh-oh it's not the sorority house is it?" Bethany asked.

"No!" Lana replied. "Colton and I kissed."

"What? Wait, when?"

"Well almost kissed, in the car, then Carla came out and I stopped it. It doesn't matter he's into Melanie."

"No he's not!"

"Really?" She gave Bethany a look. "Didn't you hear him out there? He cares for her."

"That doesn't mean he likes her. Trust me the guy's too blind to see anyone but you." Bethany said. "And next time, kiss him!" And with that she left the kitchen.
