"I still don't think we should we should take this to the police." Colton said.

"What? It was your idea Colton, and Liam is the number one suspect, this is the only way to prove him and us innocent." Bethany said.

"I'm just saying, we could get into more trouble, hacking into a security system, blackmailing and lying to the store owner, they're gonna get more suspicious of why we're so desperate to prove ourselves innocent."

"That's ridiculous. Anyone would want to prove themselves innocent when they are, there's nothing desperate about that." Lana said crossing her arms and giving Colton a glare.

"Dude, I had an interview with a really important law firm today but I already lost it, okay? This is already out there and people are freaking out about it, and tomorrow we have to testify and the word's already out that we are the main suspects of this murder. It won't be good to any of us for our future plans." Liam said making the girls nod their heads in agreement.

"If we take this to the police, we won't testify?" Colton asked with a sigh.

"No I'm not saying that, we have to testify anyways, but if they see this, we'll have nothing to hide and we'll be able to answer their questions in court without looking even more suspicious than they make us out to be. And they won't be able to make false assumptions against us in court because they have proof, and if they choose to ignore the evidence, we have a copy of the tapes and we'll show the whole court that we're innocent." Liam explained.

Liam has always been a man of words, ever since they were kids he always knew exactly what to say to get what he wanted, and to make someone say what he wanted them to say without their knowledge. He always knew he wanted to be a lawyer and he can bee a pretty good one, that is if this murder doesn't ruin him eventually.

"So?" Lana asked standing up and holding the tapes in the air looking between her friends. "Shall we?"

Without saying anything Colton walked out of the house with the other three following him with smiles. They drove to the police station and Liam told them what to say and what not to say, so they won't give away how they got the footage.

"Well well, here to confess?" Detective Keegan said approaching them.

"We have nothing to confess." Bethany said.

"We're here to prove ourselves innocent." Colton said as Liam handed the officer a yellow envelope containing the tapes.

"What is this?" He asked confused.

"Why don't you take a look?" Lana said.

Detective Keegan walked to his office without a word and put in the tapes and watched as the four of them entered their house.

"This states that we were home at the time of the murder and after it. As you can see it's 10:32 pm and the four of us are home and it shows no action until 1:42 am when Liam left." Lana explained fast forwarding the tape. "And here he is 1:56 am and Liam is back."

"I can see that. But where was he in between those hours?"

Liam put in the other tape and played it.

"I was at the store getting cigarettes. See I have this bad habit of smoking but I didn't want my friends to know especially my girlfriend. So that's why I didn't say anything before. See here I am at 1:46 am 4 minutes after I left the house buying some cigs, and leaving the store at 1:48 and as you can see I'm still outside smoking until 1:52 and it took 4 minutes to go back home which makes the time of my arrival to the house exactly the same amount as it took for me to leave. So I think this proves that we all are innocent." Liam said taking a deep breath.

"You make a good case Mr. Martin."

"I didn't become a lawyer for nothing."

"You're not a lawyer yet."

"No but very soon I will be."

"And I assume now we are free to go and no longer suspects, I feel like we're doing your job detective Keegan, aren't you the one supposed to investigate your suspects before you throw false assumptions on them?" Lana said walking out of the office as the others followed behind.

"Oh and you can keep the tapes, we'll see you tomorrow detective Keegan." Bethany said before they left.

Next day.

May 1 2016.

"The police are still investigating the murder of Jessie Louis a young student who was found dead in her campus house's pool with a burnt body. The only suspects as of today are her four roommates, Lana Jefferson, Liam Martin, Bethany Hale, and Colton Perkins." The reporter was saying when Bethany turned off the tv.

"This is bad. Really, really bad." She said.

"Look it'll all be over soon. Today's the court and once the evidence is shown that we were home we'll be free to go and our names will be cleared." Colton said.

"Are we still gonna do our own investigation?" Bethany asked.

Before Colton could answer the door bell rang. It was detective Keegan with a bunch of other police officers. Keegan showed them the search warrant and demanded the others to start searching the house.
They were wearing white gloves and started looking for prints or evidence of any kind, anywhere.

"If it helps, Jessie never came in here." Colton said. "She never hung out with us, she was always in her room or the kitchen."

"Are you trying to hide something Mr. Perkins is that why you don't want us to search here?"

Colton laughed. "No I have nothing to hide, be my guest search as much as you like, I was just trying to help you save some time because I think whoever did this is still out there and could possibly hurt someone else."

Keegan stopped and stared at Colton for a second, he didn't want to admit he was right, but demanded his search party to stop what they were doing and go to Jessie's room immediately.
They literally searched everywhere and tested for prints or any kind of clue or evidence everywhere, and an hour and a half later they found nothing.

"We'll see you in court kids." And with that LAPD left.
