"Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Jessie Louis was found in the defendants' residence, the house that she lived in with these four other students, I don't think there should be other reasons to accuse them as the prime suspects of this murder." The prosecutor began her case.

"Objection your honor, my clients have proof that they were in their home at the time of the murder."

"Which is where she was found dead." The prosecutor argued with Tony.

"Sustained." The judge allowed the objection.

"Thank you your honor, the deceased's body was found in the pool of my client's residence, but the place of the murder remains a mystery, so does the murder weapon, my clients have not heard any noise at the night of the murder." Tony began his case.

"Objection your honor, that gives a suspicious reason as to why the defendants never heard anything when a burnt body of a young girl was being drowned in their pool."

"Sustained."

"The defendants claim they never heard any noise but they say they have proof of being home."

"Your honor, this is ridiculous, my clients were all home and asleep, it was the middle of the night, they have exams this week, anyone in their shoes would not hear anything as well, the guilty party was obviously very careful."

"Your honor, I've been informed that one of the defendants, Mr. Martin was out of the residence at the time of the murder."

"Objection."

"Overrule."

The judge rejected Tony's objection and allowed the prosecutor to explain her case further.
The room was filled with murmurs and the four of them were patiently waiting for the trial to be over, biting their nails, shaking their legs.
The judge ordered silence in the court as the prosecutor continued explaining him the fact that Liam left the house.

"Your honor we have proof of when Mr. Martin left and returned to the residence. If you can just allow us to show the rest of the court."

"Objection your honor."

"Overrule Miss McGory." The judge said.

"I now call Mr. Keegan Matthews on the stand." Tony said.

The four turned around and looked at Keegan who had a surprised look on his face.
He approached the stand after a few moments and took his seat.
Tony asked him when they visited the station with the proof and he answered truthfully. But when he asked him about the footage, Keegan lied and said that they wanted the footage back.

"So you're telling me that my clients asked to get their tapes back?"

"Yes that is what I'm saying. I wanted to keep them but they wanted them back."

"That is odd, your honor I have a video here I would like to show you."

The judge agreed and Tony played the video of the day they took the tapes to the police, and the part where they said to Keegan that he can keep the tapes.

"So you're telling me that isn't you in the video that my clients were talking to?"

Keegan didn't answer.

"So you lied when you said my clients wanted their tapes back?!"

"Yes." Keegan answered his head hanging low.

"No further questions." Tony smirked and took his seat back.

Detective Keegan was speechless he couldn't say anything after being proven lying.
Tony also played the evidence video of the four of them entering their home and the store footage of Liam buying the cigarettes.
They also called all of them on the stand and they testified and told the court the truth that they never left home, and Liam explained why he went out, and why he lied the first time. And Tony explained how Jessie was murdered at 12:56 am and Liam was in the house at that time, and that he left at 1:42 am.

They took a recess after showing the evidence and after the testimony.

"Hey." Jake approached Lana and gave her a hug. "Don't worry you all did good in there, I'm feeling positive about this."

They flashed another fake smile and nodded their heads,  while Lana gave him a kiss and smiled.

"Thanks for doing this again." Liam said to his uncle.

"No worries, just tell me this, I don't usually ask my clients if they did it, but did you?" Tony asked.

"Really? No of course not. We didn't do it."

"Okay."

The recess was over and they were called back in the courtroom.
After the judge asked the jury for a decision and read it in silence.

"All rise." He said and every one in the room stood up.
"The jury finds the defendants not guilty." He announced and the room filled with murmurs.

The four of them hugged each other and thanked their lawyer.

"The jury is thanked and excused. Court is adjourned."

"Congratulations." Keegan said outside in the parking lot.

"Thank you." Colton replied.

"You sure do know what you're doing."

"We didn't do anything, the fact that we're truly innocent did the whole job." Bethany answered.

He was left speechless, the little fake smile he had on his face faded away and without a word and he walked away.

Four of them rushed home and had dinner together and celebrated their win, including Jake. Around 9 pm at night Jake left and they went to their rooms to study for their exams.
Colton was reading the diary again when Lana walked in.

"Hey, can I have the diary I want to look through it, see if we missed anything." She said.

Colton hesitated a bit, he panicked whether to give her the diary or not, he didn't want her to find out about Jake. He had hidden the diary under his pillow when she came in.

"Yeah, I'll bring it to you in a sec, I hid it somewhere safe." He lied.

"Alright, I'm gonna take a shower, just leave it on my bed." She said.

She gave him a smile and left the room.
Colton took the diary and rushed to Liam and Bethany's room. Without knocking he entered and caused the couple to yell at him.

"Oh come on, it's not like I haven't seen you guys kissing before."

"What do you need?" Liam asked.

"Lana wants the diary."

"Then give it to her." Bethany said and resumed kissing her boyfriend.

Colton separated them from each other which caused them to sit straight and listen to what he had to say.

"She'll find out about Jake."

"Just let her Colton, she needs to know." Bethany said.

"No she doesn't, she doesn't need this right now. What am I gonna do? If I don't give it to her she'll know we're hiding something."

"Rip off the page." Liam suggested.

"What?"

"She'll never know, just rip it right off."

Colton agreed with his best friend, he ripped off the page, put it in his pocket and took the diary to her room, just when Lana came out of her bathroom, with nothing but a towel wrapped around her body.

"The diary." Colton said awkwardly putting the diary on her bed and ignoring the fact that Lana was half naked in front of him.

She thanked him and he turned around to leave.

"Colton."

"I'm gonna take a shower and you need to get dressed." He quickly said and left the room.

Lana sighed and got dressed, she combed her wet hair then put it in a single braid and got in bed and opened the diary, fixing it on her lap and started reading it from day 1, until she reached a page where she realized something suspicious.
She ran her fingers on the page and felt a page was missing, a little bit of the ripped page was remaining in the middle of the diary, she checked the dates and saw that it skipped a day. She threw her blanket away from her and onto the floor and rushed to Colton's room and slammed his door open with an angry expression on her face.

Colton had a towel wrapped around his waist and was getting ready to take it off and get dressed.

"What are you doing?" He yelled.

"There's a page missing Colton, where is it?" She yelled which caused Liam and Bethany to come running to Colton's room as well.

"What's going on here?" Liam asked.

"There's a page missing." She replied throwing the diary on his bed. "What is it that you guys aren't telling me?"

"Nothing!"

"For God's sake Colton just tell her!" Bethany yelled.

They all kept yelling at each other, Lana kept asking them to tell her the truth, Bethany kept telling Colton to tell her and Colton kept saying no and Liam kept calming them down.

"Fine, fine, fine, Jake cheated on you!" Colton finally yelled and silenced everyone.

"You're lying." She took a step back.

"Why would I lie? You wanted to know the truth and there it is."

Lana sat down on the floor and hugged her knees to her chest, with a horrified expression on her face. Bethany sat down next to her and put an arm around her.

"How do you know? What does that have to do with jessie's diary?" She calmly asked.

"Because it's Jessie that he cheated on you with." Colton calmly replied and handed the ripped page to her.

Lana read it and started crying, the three of them explained to her why they lied, they spent hours trying to comfort her and finally she was able to sleep at around 12:30.
The next morning Lana woke up, she recalled everything that had happened the night before, she took her phone from her nightstand and looked at her wallpaper, which was a picture of her and Jake. She texted him to meet her for breakfast at a coffee shop they had on campus.
She knew it was a stupid thing to do, but she changed her wallpaper and put a picture of her with Colton, Bethany and Liam. Then she changed from her pijamas into a jeans with a simple plain black shirt and a white floral kimono on top of it, with black flat sandals, and a big black purse, she untied her braid and let her wavy hair down, put on a little make up and went downstairs to leave.

"Hey Lana, I made breakfast." Liam said from the kitchen.

"No thanks I got something important to do." She said without stopping and left the house.

She walked straight to the coffee shop and stopped in front of it before going in. She looked through the glass walls and saw that Jake wasn't there yet.
She entered the shop ordered a coffee and sat at one of the tables. After taking a few sips, Jake came in the door with the same smile he always has on his face and came towards her, placed a kiss on Lana's cheek snd sat across from her.

"What's wrong babe? Are you okay?" He asked when he saw her plain expression.

"I have class, so I'm gonna get straight to the point." She said.

His face formed a confused expression, and when he didn't say anything she continued.

"Did you or did you not cheat on me with Jessie?"

"What?"

"Don't lie Jake." She slammed the paper on the table in front of him.

"I can explain." He didn't even deny it.

"I don't want to hear you speak, I don't want to see your face." She said standing up.

"You have to understand." He tried making her stay.

"Understand this, we are done. Don't ever show yourself to me ever again." She said through gritted teeth and left with a tear rolling down her face.

She kept walking until she reached her class. She drowned herself in work and studying and tried to get her mind off her cheating boyfriend for the rest of the day.
