Adalyn's POV

"I can't wear this to a party! I look like a stripper!" I shouted in disbelief. I can't believe Cara expects me to wear this dress. It didn't cover anything it should.

"You don't look like a stripper, you look hot." I groaned. "Do you have anything that's less, you know, revealing?" Cara rolled her eyes.

"Come on Addy! You need to live a little!" she tried to look innocent but I knew what she was trying to do.

I shook my head, "I'm not wearing this." Cara pouted and jumped off her bed and into her closet. I walked in front of the mirror again, this dress did show off my ass and my legs but I didn't feel confident. I looked out the window and blushed when I locked eyes with Grayson.

His face was completely red and he appeared to be frozen in place. His eyes ran over my figure with a look in them that I couldn't quite place. My mind shot back to what happened at school today... With my pink lace bra. He cleared his throat before he pulled the curtains across his window. I bit my lip maybe this dress could get more reactions like that. Hopefully from him in particular.

"Okay how about this?" I looked back and Cara stopped, "You look like a tomato." I bit my lip again before running a hand through my hair.

"I think I'm good with wearing this dress. But only this once." I held up my hand. "And no crazy stunts that will flash my junk to the public! Understand?" She nodded smiling like a two year old.

"Yay!" She squealed. She threw the other dress on the bed and pulled me to her dresser where her entire make up collection was set out, "We need to do this more often!"

~

I now know what it's like to be tortured. Cara did my makeup taking her sweet ass time and kept yelling at me to sit still. I didn't even recognize the person staring back at me. Cara also wore a very revealing dress with huge heels. I don't even know how she was still standing.

"Simon's here with the car! Let's go." I looked back towards the window to see the curtains were still closed. It was going to be awkward facing him on Monday, or even tonight if he changed his mind about coming. Maybe I just wouldn't talk to him, like at all, for the rest of my life. Cara grabbed my hand and pulled me down the stairs.

Mrs. Robinson was standing in the door way talking to Simon when we stumbled down the steps. Their attention snapped to us and both of them stared. "

You can't seriously be think about going out in that!" Cara's mom shouted.

"Mom." Cara mumbled.

"Don't you 'mom' me young lady. I thought this was a party not a stripper joint." I blushed and lowered my head. My mom would also kill me if she saw what I was wearing.

"Well you can't control me!" Cara started dancing. "At least I'll be able to pay my way through college. Plus you're one to talk." She blushed and pressed her fingertips to her forehead.

"I want you back by midnight." Simon was staring at me with wide eyes.

"Well that was awkward." Cara commented before she opened the door. Simon and I stepped out into the night air.

"Why did you talk to your mother like that?" I asked Cara as we walked down the driveway behind Simon.

"She said that I could go to the party then she gets mad for what I'm wearing!? My mom was an actually stripper when she was in college! So she can't get mad at me!" I shook my head, I would have been grounded on the spot if I spoke to my mom like that.

"I thought she was an exotic dancer?" Simon grinned walking backwards.

"Yeah 'exotic dancer'." Cara said using air quotes.

"Hurry up! You guys are going to make us late." Simon complained climbing into the car.

"First of all anyone who is anyone shows up at the party late. So we are precisely on time." Cara argued, but we were already pasted being fashionably late.

"Your logic makes no sense to me Cara Robinson." I said climbing into the back seat. Simon looked at me through the rear view mirror and I offered him a smile. He seemed to look at me the same way Grayson had a few moments earlier.

"I must say ladies, you look rather dashing tonight."

"Oh shut up and drive Simon." I swear the rolling of Cara's eyes could cause a tsunami.

Grayson's POV

It's official. I'm a creeper.

I watched Adalyn throw her arms in the air out of frustration. My breath caught when I saw her in that dress. The bra that she was wearing made her cup size look probably two sizes larger than normal. The fabric clung to her body like a second skin, so much so that I noticed that she had a nice ass. Her body shape was a little more muscular than Cara's, probably from playing sports. My eyes continued to trail down her legs, that were long and looked smooth to the touch. God did I ever want to run my hands over the perfect curves of her body. I wanted to feel her warm skin against mine. I could feel my body heat up and blood rushing to a certain area as I thought about the way our bodies had felt pressed together the other day.

I was frozen in place as she stared at herself in the mirror, but the world just fell apart under my feet when her hazel eyes met mine. I scanned her body one more time before my sense clicked in. Fuck. I was staring. Like a fucking creep.

Her cheeks darkened a bright red and I'm sure mine reflected hers. My mouth dropped open and it was like the gravity switch in my room turned off, as I noticed my bed sheets and pillows floating in my peripheral vision. Shit! I jumped forward pulling both the curtains shut. Okay Grayson breathe.

A huge stinging pain shot behind my eyes, hurting so bad I fell to my knees. My hands began to shake and my stomach convulsed. I coughed feeling my throat burn.

"Grayson?! Open the door! What's going on?! Grayson?!" I heard Diara yell. Then it was like the air in my entire room started to suffocate me.

I gasped for breath and not receiving any, it was like it was being stolen from my very lungs. I clutched at my chest begging for the sering pain to go away.

'ENOUGH!' Everything stopped and I sucked in a huge breath. The door swung open and Diara fell to her knees in front of me.

"Grayson? What happened?"

I rocked back onto my butt and leaned back against the bed frame.

"It doesn't make any sense." I muttered.

"What doesn't make sense?" Diara searched my face for an answer but the truth is, I didn't have one.

"That time, it wasn't me."

Her eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean?" She asked touching my shoulder.

"At the school with... With the nacho cheese and the lockers... It was me, I was the one who did that. But this time... It wasn't me." I looked her straight in the eye, "At the school I felt the energy leave me. But this... It was like someone actually had their hands against my neck."

"But there isn't someone who is strong enough to do that to you. I mean considering how powerful you are." I shook my head. "There's only six possible people who have abilities like that..."

"You don't think any of us would do that to you do you? Grayson, none of us would ever do that. Ever!" I nodded.

"You're right... But no one has gifts like ours, but us." Diara nodded. She was trying to process what I had said. She looked around the room for anything that would explain the occurrence.

"I'll go get Raymond and some water." I grabbed the bridge of my nose as she got up. Why would any of them do that to me? Some sick prank?

This happened after Adalyn and I made eye contact. Maybe it has something to do with her. Is this like puberty for my kind? I thought I already went through all this shit. There was a knock at the door catching my attention.

"Grayson are you okay? Diara told me what happened." I nodded accepting the glass of water held out to me, "Grayson we need to figure out who did this to you." I nodded letting him com over to examine me.

"Are you positive it wasn't your powers going wonky again?" I was bothered by the fact that he thought I could be lying to him.

I nodded my head, "Ray, I'm positive. I can feel when I use my powers or I can sense the others. I didn't feel anything except getting choked to death." I rubbed my throat recalling the feeling.

"Maybe it was because you were so focused on getting suffocated you didn't realize anything else." I locked my jaw and rubbed my hands forcefully down my face. Diara came back into the room as I took a sip from the glass.

"But that's the thing. We can't hurt ourselves. Remember that exercise we did when we were really young? We could hurt each other but we could never use our powers on ourselves. I would never ever try to choke myself. It had to of been someone else." There was no other explanation for what had just occurred. Then again, there were only six people on this entire earth that would have been able to achieve that, especially with this purple shit running through my system. The scar by my shoulder pulsed as I recalled it entering my body.

"Maybe there were more of you that came to earth when your planet was destroyed." Diara started pacing while she bit her thumbnail.

"But why would they want to hurt you?" Raymond asked.

"Because he's the last surviving member of the royal family." Diara interjected.

Adalyn's POV

"We're here." Simon finally announced. It was literally a fifteen minute drive across town, but Cara isn't exactly the most patient person.

"It's about time!" Cara yelled getting out of the car. I followed her placing my heels on the dewy grass.

"So this is James' and Allison's house?" I asked.

Cara nodded grabbing my hand. "This is where the magic happens." I could hear the music all the way from down the driveway. Solo cups were littered all over the front yard with people milling around.

"Come on! Let's Go!" Cara started pulling me and a few people turned their heads in our direction. I don't know how I feel about this, especially in this dress.

I ripped my hand away from Cara and pulled my dress down. Simon placed his hand on my lower back. "Just to let you know. Don't go into any bedrooms, don't eat any brownies and get yourself a drink, don't let anyone do it for you. With you being a light weight, I would say no more than two beers." I know Simon had the best intentions, but he sounded like my father.

We made it to the front step and the dubstep hit my face like a brick wall. The house smelled like booze and weed. I wanted to barf as the smell was quite nauseating.

"Come on! Best part is outside by the pool." Cara grabbed my hand and pulled me farther inside the house. We went to the keg first where Cara handed me a drink before chugging one herself. Simon kept close to me ,eyeing all the guys who were giving me looks.

I took a sip from my solo cup before we walked through the back door. The music was the loudest out here but people seemed to be having a good time. People were in the pool and hot tub doing God knows what.

"Let's dance!" I shook my head no, but Cara pulled me out to the little group that was dancing. I looked back at Simon for support but he just gave me a grin.

"Okay okay! At least give me my hand back!" Cara smiled gulping her drink.

I started dancing to the beat and I laughed at Cara's horrible dance moves. I looked back at Simon and slipped over to him grabbing his arm. "No! Nope! I don't dance!" I laughed as he protested. If I had to dance, so did he.

"You do now!" I swayed my hips pulling him over to where Cara was dancing.

"Since when do you dance?" She asked Simon. He shrugged his shoulder awkwardly.

"Since now!" He answered her looking at me. I offered him a smile which he returned. We got lost in the music and danced, like we had all done before in my back yard during eighth grade. I smiled at the thought but the next song ended.

"I don't know about you but I need another drink." Cara said staring into her empty cup.

"Me too." I answered making Simon hold an expression of surprise.

"How many have you had?" He asked.

"Only one. I'm fine, not wasted yet." I followed Cara back into the house where she poured herself a drink from the keg.

"Having fun yet?" I nodded at her question. In truth, I kind of was.

"I'm glad you dragged me here." She held out her hand and I have her my solo cup. I usually turned parties down because they weren't usually my scene. The energy tonight, or the vibes I should say, were something that I could get on board tonight.

"Adalyn?" I turned around and my cheeks heated at the sight of my crush, Thomas Switz. I looked back at Cara but she just wiggled her eyebrows and handed me my cup.

"Hi Thomas. Funny seeing you here." Funny seeing you here? Really Addy? This is his step sisters house. Thomas' dad had remarried Allison's mom a few years ago. James, his biological brother was the one throwing the party tonight, but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to be seen at his own damn house.

"Well I do live here. It's funny seeing you here actually. I don't think I've ever seen you at a party before." I nodded taking a sip of my drink.

"This isn't my first, but I felt like I should go to another one. You know, for the whole senior year experience." He filled his cup up and took a huge sip from his drink. Thomas had graduated last year, but had decided to take a victory lap to play football.

"Well I must say, you look pretty hot in that dress." Holy shit he just called me hot. "See you around." With that he walked off. He just complimented me. Thomas Switz literally talked to me and complimented me in the same conversation. Hold on, am I dreaming?

"What the hell just happened?" I muttered to myself. I opened the back door and began the search for my two best friends. I walked around the whole pool and froze when I saw them in a lip lock.

Seriously, I've reverted to third wheel status?!

"You look pretty bummed out." I nodded as I stared at the pair in front of me.

"I've been downgraded to third wheel." I commented.

"Oh that's got to hurt." I turned to look who was talking to me to find Allison sitting in a pool chair.

"Yeah, not to mention how terrible it is to act like a dork in front of someone you like. This night has been great. What about yours?" I asked taking a seat beside her in the empty chair.

"I've been stood up." She said staring into her glass.

"Grayson?" She nodded taking a sip from a fruity looking beverage, that had a little yellow umbrella.

"He's so hot it's unearthly possible." I chuckled as she slurred her words. Unearthly seemed like a good way to describe him.

"I know right, he's like some god." I said before taking another sip.

"Well he's obviously too good to be with anybody so..." her slur seemed a little worse this time, I cut her off.

"Hey don't say that. He's just new, probably has a million girls throwing themselves at him. You just have to give him time." I don't know what was making me therapist like but, I'm blaming the alcohol.

"You really think so?"

I nodded, "I know so."

"You're right. It was so bold of me to invite him to a party on his first day. He doesn't know anybody." She burped. "Ew I think I'm gonna throw up. Yep I'm gonna throw up." She stood up from her seat and rushed around the pool.

"Nice chat!" I yelled at her. I leaned back into the chair with a sigh swigging my beer around in the glass.

"How can a pretty lady like you be sitting alone?" I looked up to see Owen had taken a seat beside me.

"Allison's single right?" I felt a pang in my chest from his obliviousness. He had to know that he had kind of hurt my feelings when he fired me. I knew it wasn't his fault but part of me blamed him since he was supposed to be my friend.

"Yes she is. But she's going after Grayson."

"The new guy?" I nodded. "What does everyone see in him? There's just not something right about him." My eyebrows furrowed a bit, so I wasn't the only one who noticed how odd they were.

"Owen, I thought you liked guys." I commented.

"Oh I do. Girls too though." Oh, so he was a bisexual. Good to know. So he turned me down a few years ago, not because of my gender but because I simply wasn't his type. This seemed to hurt me more. He didn't say another word but just stood up and walked away in the direction that Allison had gone.

"Addy! Bestie!!" I heard Cara call. Simon and her had finally separated for some air and Cara came stumbling toward me.

"I think we should get you home." I said putting my arm around her shoulders.

"What are you talking about! The party is just getting started! Simon went to get me another drink!"

"Well Simon is an ass for letting you keep drinking. How many have you had?" She held out her hand and started counting on her fingers.

"Three." She said holding up four fingers.

"Yep I'm getting you home." I walked around the pool and through the back door where Simon was standing. He looked at me confused but all I did was glare at him.

"What's up?" He asked pointing to Cara.

"Are you trying to get her drunk? Simon, she's had enough. You told me to stop at two but you keep forcing liquor down her throat. I'm taking her home." Simon looked taken aback from my out burst.

"She asked for another one-"

"So you didn't try to cut her off. What the hell is wrong with you?" I asked while Cara began touching my face.

"Why are you so pretty?" her words were barely coming out coherently.

"Let me drive you guys home." I shook my head smacking her hand away.

"I've got it covered, thanks." I spit at him. I almost carried her entire weight outside to the front yard. I pulled my phone out of my boob and dialled her mother.

"Adalyn?" a voice asked as she picked up.

"Hi Mrs. Robinson. Could you come pick us up?"

~

Cara was passed out in the back of the car and the music was on low. "Thank you for calling me." I nodded.

"I wasn't going to drive. I'm no better than she is." I had two drinks myself and wasn't over the age of twenty-two yet, so I wasn't allowed to have anything in my system while driving.

We pulled into Cara's driveway and I stepped out barefoot, grabbing my heels from the floor. I wobbled a bit from my slight buzz. Opening the passenger door I tapped Cara.

"Cara we're home. Get out of the car so we can get you into your bed." She groaned pushing my hand away.

"I'll unlock the front door. She isn't going to let me take her inside." Her mom took out the key and unlocked the door while I pulled on Cara's arm again.

"Cara, come on you fat ass. Bed is that way." I said pointing to her house.

"Need some help?" I jumped at the sound of Grayson's voice. Was he watching me this whole time. I was suddenly aware of how much my dress had rode up. He probably had full view of my undies.

"No thanks I've got it." I grabbed Cara's arm again lifting her to a sitting position. "If you come
