"You're out of your goddamn mind," Cain snarled over the phone. "I will f*cking rip your head off your body if you suggest anything like that ever again."

"Cain, please," Thane pleaded, and it was odd to here inflection in his normally stoic voice. "She can't beat the she-wolf that is going to challenge her for the Luna position. At least not without Ares training her. The challenge takes place in three weeks. I already had my best trainer work with her and her progress isn't enough. I can't let my mate be murdered."

Cain was silent. You have to let me go, I told Cain. You won't be able to live with yourself if Thane's mate gets killed because you were too selfish.

Cain glared at me. And I won't be able to live with myself if you get hurt because I let you go on a foreign territory for nearly a month.

I made puppy dog eyes at Cain, a move I rarely ever used. Typically when he tells me no, I try to stab him, but I actually needed to win this argument. For Thane.

I sat on his lap and stroked his beard. I know you're resisting because you're worried for my safety, but you have no reason to be concerned about that. One, I can handle myself and you know that better than anyone. Two, I'll be with Thane. You know how powerful his Gift is, not to mention how strong his wolf is because he's an Alpha. Three, I could take Lucas or Axel with me, and I would be willing to have them as a permanent guard, with me at all times on Blue Moon territory. Not to mention, there's no doubt that Thane will have guards for his mate.

Cain's eyes narrowed into slits, but I could see that I had him on the verge of agreeing as he considered my points.

Thane interjected. "Cousin. You know that I would never let anything happen to either of our mates on my territory. They would be the most protected people on the planet. I know their value."

Cain was quiet for what felt like hours. "Three weeks, and I'm visiting on weekends. Then my mate is coming back home, where she belongs."

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The next morning, we were already getting ready to leave for Blue Moon. I wore my black leggings, boots, a black cropped tank top that was so small it almost looked like a sports bra, and my brown fur cloak that covered my entire torso and arms.

"I'm going to miss waking up with you every morning," Cain stated as he wrapped his arms around me. I nuzzled my face into his neck and inhaled deeply. I didn't know how I would manage without the comfort of his deeply intoxicating scent.

It's only three weeks, Cain. It'll be over before you know it, I told him and kissed his neck, inciting a small growl.

"If you do that again, you're not ever leaving this room," Cain warned, and I pulled away laughing.

We left the pack house shortly after, taking Lucas, Axel, and Zach.

After what felt like the longest car ride of my life, we finally reached Blue Moon. We were waved through the pack border, and drove right to the same pack house that Thane took me too when encroached on his territory.

I hopped out of the car, and Cain held his arms out for him to carry me. I shook my head. Even though technically Blood Laws state that he has to carry me on foreign territories, I didn't abide to such formal rules when it was just Thane.

Cain narrowed his eyes at me, but didn't argue. Instead, we just walked in side by side, with Axel, Zach, and Lucas following closely behind us. Lucas was rigid, awaiting a possible attack.

Cain knocked on the door three times, and I heard Thane's voice call out telling Cain that it's unlocked.

"It's rude to not open the door for your guests," Cain informed Thane as we stepped in, and I could hear that he was joking in his tone.

Thane stood, looking semi-formal as always in his slacks and button down shirt. He was holding hands with a raven-haired female. His mate.

The girl next to him wore a flowing white shirt and blue jeans that showcased how thin her legs were. I could easily snap them.

I will say though, Thane's mate was a beauty. Her pale skin contrasted heavily with her dark hair, which was thrown up haphazardly into a bun. Upon further examination of her, I noted that her lips and cheeks were particularly red. In fact, her lips looked almost swollen. I smirked. Get it, Thane.

Thane coolly responded to Cain, "I seem to recall that you're comfortable breaking down my door. Opening it should be much easier for you."

I couldn't even surprise the small smile that Thane's comment brought to my face. That day, though I was incredibly pissed in the moment, was now a funny memory. I miss being able to make Cain that angry.

Interestingly, I could hear Thane's mate's heart beating faster than normal. This girl definitely needed training. She would get her first witness of the kind of quickness needed in fights firsthand, right now. I looked at Thane with a mischievous look in my eyes, and his flashed with recognition.

"Little one, do me a favor and go stand by the wall to your left, okay?" He asked as he turned to his mate, who tilted her head in confusion but obeyed him without a second thought as she moved to the side.

If only you were that obedient, Cain mindlinked me, and I had to suppress a laugh.

Notice how he asked her and didn't command her? Take notes, Alpha, I jokingly responded. To be honest, I wouldn't do anything Cain said if he asked instead of ordered.

With Thane's mate out of the way, I summoned a knife a quickly sent it at Thane, aiming for his heart. Of course, he was able to use his Gift to stop the knife before it plunged into him.

He flipped the knife so the tip was pointed towards me, and was able to send it back with a large amount of power. His Gift really was incredible. I wondered what his mate was Gifted with. Despite her weak physical appearance, I didn't doubt that she would be Gifted with something equally amazing.

Thane aimed the knife at my skull. A bold move, if he didn't know I would be able to deflect it. I swiped the blade to the side easily, smirking at our traditional greeting. Did I even see Thane if we didn't try killing each other before anything else?

Thane was just as amused as I, letting out a small chuckle. "Always a lovely greeting from you, Ares," and I winked at him in response. He turned to the girl, who's eyebrows were furrowed in a mixture of confusion and concern. "You can come back, Nyx, being near me is no longer a safety risk."

The girl, Nyx, once again obeyed him and went directly into the arm he held out for her. As he squeezed her closer to him, I heard her heart rate decrease. The proximity of her mate calmed her anxiety. If it wasn't due to a supernatural, predetermined phenomenon, it would have been sweet.

"Cain, Ares. Meet my mate, Onyx," Thane introduced us, and I couldn't help smirking.

Training the future Luna of Blue Moon was going to be so much fun.
