Won't be able to post tomorrow so here's the update now. Any problems with that, take it up with management (I am management and I do not care).

Lethal chapter as per popular demand:

"What does it say?" Gwen asks as soon as I hand her the envelope and tell her it's from Leo.

I roll my eyes. "Did your ability to read suddenly escape you?"

She scowls. "I just assumed you or Cain snooped and already read it."

I smirk. "He wanted to, I stopped him."

"Ares," Cain said warningly from his spot on the couch.

Oops, forgot he was there. I sigh, "Okay fine, I wanted to and he stopped me."

Gwen snorts as she tears open the envelope. "Now that, I believe."

Her breath hitches as she reads the writing on the paper. "What does it say?" I ask as I try peering over the edge of the paper to read it.

She abruptly presses the letter to her chest, concealing the words. "Nothing," Gwen says quickly.

Groaning, I say, "Come on, Gwen! You get a mysterious letter from your Blue Moon lover and you're not even going to tell me anything about it?"

Gwen's eyes sparkle in mischief. "Okay, Luna. If you really want to know, he just wanted to remind me of the last night we spent together in Blue Moon. In particular, wanted to remind me of when he got on top and-"

"Okay, Gwendolyn," Cain interjects, his face stoic as always. "I think we get the gist, thank you."

Gwen smirks at me. "That's what I thought. Anyways, I have to go, um, annoy Axel or something. See you later!"

She all but races out of the Pack House. My eyebrows raise to my hairline. "Is it just me or is she acting weirder than usual?" I ask Cain, who got up off of the couch and crossed the room to take me in his arms.

He laughs, nuzzling his face into my neck. "Hard to say, pup. She's always weird."

Cain's charcoal eyes suddenly gloss over, like he's mind-linking someone. "What happened?" I ask, instantly alert. "Was there another attack?"

"No, nothing like that," He says, kissing my forehead. "I have to go, I'll be back in less than an hour."

I frown. "I'll come with you."

He looks panicked at this. "No, don't," He says quickly. "You've had a long day traveling, you should go to bed. Zach and Lucas will be here soon to guard you."

Cain turns to leave, but I grab his wrist. "Cain, where are you going?" I ask in confusion. If no one was attacked, I'm not sure why he's insisting that I stay here.

"Please just stay here, Ares," Cain requests, at least, I interpret it as a request though he probably views it as more of an order. "I promise there wasn't another attack and nothing is wrong. There's just somewhere I have to go, alone."

My eyes narrow. "Fine," I say through clenched teeth. "But you're telling me where you went once you get back."

He nods, relieved that I agree to stay put for the time being. "Thank you, pup," Cain says, kissing me before he leaves.

Shortly after his departure, true to his word, Lucas and Zach arrive.

"Before you throw any knives," Zach starts as soon as he walks through the door, "You should know that my mate will be very displeased with you if I return injured."

I snort in amusement. "So I take it things are going well between you two?"

Lucas laughs. "No way. I could hear her screaming at him from my house almost a mile away."

Zach plops down on the couch and scornfully says, "Okay, fine. My mate would probably be thrilled if I came back with a bruise or two, but that doesn't mean you should do it!"

Laughing, I say, "No need to worry about your delicate skin, Zach. I agreed not to leave. You guys wouldn't happen to know where Cain went, would you? Is someone injured?" I can't help but have every dangerous scenario playing out through my head.

They shrug in unison. "Nothing happened, I swear, Luna," Lucas promises. "He just said he had errands to run and not to let you follow him."

I scoff. Errands. Something tells me if he was just out buying eggs, he wouldn't be so insistent on the secrecy.

"Whatever," I say. "I'm going to bed. Consider it your lucky day, Zach."

"Wait," Zach says, leaping to his feet. "I need a favor."

I raise my eyebrows in response. Does he want to get hit?

"I need you to talk to Cassia," Zach says desperately, and it's the last thing I expect.

I can't stop myself from laughing so hard I'm nearly in tears, even though Zach and Lucas look at me like I'm insane. "You... want me... to convince your mate to give you a chance? You do know that I tried escaping Cain at least ten times, and tried to kill him upwards of triple that, right?"

Lucas stifles a laugh at that.

"Please, Luna," Zach pleads, and his voice is so full of desperation I stop my laughter. "She might be willing to listen to you. Especially since you were in her position once, not too long ago. If you could just talk to her and get her to open up, it would mean everything to me."

I sigh, considering his words. As sure as Zach may be that I could talk some sense into the she-wolf, I was even more sure that I couldn't. Bonding with people was not a strength of mine, much less talking to them.

"Fine," I reluctantly agree. "But I'm bringing Gwen."

Zach exhales in relief. "Thank you, Luna. I owe you one."

My eyes light up at that. Yes, he certainly does. And I planned on cashing in on that favor later on. "I'll go tomorrow," I tell him, and say goodnight to both of them.

As I head up the stairs, I finally turn my phone on, surprised to see nearly twenty missed calls and texts.

Four missed calls from: Sebastian

Ten missed calls from: Thane

Sebastian: Call me back immediately

Thane: Ares, we really need to talk

Thane: I know you're having the dreams, too. You need to tell me what you know

Thane: Just talk to me, Ares. I'm not mad, I just want to know what's going on

Thane: Why aren't you picking up the phone?

Thane: I'm going to call Cain if you don't pick up

I swear as I read the last text message, sent an hour ago. This is very, very bad. Is this where Cain had gone? Did Thane tell him something? If he did, I am so, so, so totally screwed.

Clicking on Thane's contact, I pace around my room, shutting the door and shoving clothes under the door frame to stop the sound of the call, even though I doubted Lucas or Zach would be able to hear from the bottom floor. I turned on the faucet too for good measure.

Thane answers on the first ring.

"What did you tell Cain?" I hiss quietly through the phone.

"What?" Thane asks, startled. "I haven't talked to Cain."

Relief floods my body. So wherever Cain went off too was unrelated to my dreams.

"You threatened to!" I whisper-yell. "Keep my mate out of this or so help me God I will kill you in the most brutal way I know."

Thane pauses, no doubt picturing all of the ways I could torment him before killing him. He has seen my brutality before, and no doubt knows that I have creative ways of hurting people. "Relax, Ares," He says, and I involuntarily shiver as he says my name. "I just said that so you would call. It worked, didn't it?"

"There's nothing to talk about!" I hiss, still pacing anxiously. "I told you, I don't know anything about your delusions."

Something crashes in the background through the phone, like he hit something. "Fuck! I saw your face when I brought up the dreams. I know you have them too. That's why you freaked out when I mentioned telling Cain."

I stay silent. He's right, but I won't admit it. Denial is the best course of action, I've decided.

Thane sighs. "I just want you to tell me what you know about them, Ares. They're... they're driving me insane, okay?" His voice cracks, and I freeze.

I know what he's feeling. All too well, since I myself have been subjected to the same dreams. All of the same touches, all of the kisses, everything.

"Please," He begs. "Just tell me I'm not crazy. Tell me that you have them too. It feels like I've lost my mind, I just need you to tell me that it's not just me having them."

I gulp. I feel guilty. Very, very guilty for what I'm about to say.

"I'm sorry, Thane. I wish that I could tell you that I know what you're talking about, but I just don't. If you're having some kind of weird, perverse dreams about me, it's because of issues you're having with Onyx. Everything between Cain and I is fine. Great, actually," I quickly amend my statement. "So no, I don't know what dreams you're talking about. Just do us both a favor and leave me the fuck alone. Forever."

With that, I hang up. He doesn't call back.

I feel guilty. A foreign, unfamiliar feeling. I know that I'm gaslighting him, manipulating him into thinking that he's just imagining things. Things that are definitely not just his imagination.

But what was I supposed to do? Admit that I'm having dreams about him when I'm mated to his cousin? Not just any dreams, but personal, intimate dreams that feel like they're real. Cain would kill the both of us if he knew, or at the very least, kill Thane and leave me.

That's the truth behind why I'm too scared to admit it to Thane. Cain is insanely jealous, possessive. If he thought that I had feelings for someone else, there was no doubt in my mind that he would leave me, mate or not.

Or would he? He had dragged me out of Thane's territory before he even really knew me, even when I was fighting him tooth and nail. Surely, if both Thane and I were having the same, freaky, unnatural dreams, he would know that it was because of something paranormal, not because of underlying feelings. He has to know my feelings for him, that I would never even so much as look at another man like I do him.

We're in a good place right now. Our fights are minimal, and significantly less volatile than they were at the beginning. He trusts me now, trusts in my strength and ability, for the most part. Surely, if I came clean and just told him calmly about the dreams, he would trust that they mean nothing, and have to be the work of another.

But I have no idea who would be planting these dreams, especially how they would go about it. If I knew who was behind it, then I could tell Cain. If there was a logical explanation, then he wouldn't, couldn't be mad, because it wouldn't be my fault.

But what if I never found out who did it? Thane is a ticking time bomb, just waiting to explode. If he told Cain before I did, then that would change everything. Cain would be mad that I hid it from him, and would assume that I hid it because they meant something to me. That Thane means something to me.

So I resolved to tell him when he gets back. I couldn't keep this from him any longer. Not when Thane won't drop it. It'll be best if he hears it from me.

My phone is buzzing again from a call, and I swear under my breath, cursing the day Thane was born. But when I look at the screen, it's Sebastian calling me.

"What do you want, Seb?" I snap at him. "I've had a long day and I really fucking c-"

His voice is harsh as he cuts me off.

"I know you went through the Transformation. The Alpha Transformation."
