Cain's fist swung towards my left cheek, and I narrowly dodged it, knowing that the whole side of my face would have shattered if he landed the punch.

I swung my leg out in the direction of his punch, effectively using his own strength against him, and knocking him off balance. He stumbled, and I used the opportunity to kick his knee in, which sent him tumbling to the ground.

I launched myself on top of him, eager to pin him. Unfortunately, the moment I went on top of his chest, he flipped us over, and I was unable to get out from underneath him.

"Close, pup. You're getting better," Cain caressed my hair as I struggled to get unpinned from underneath him.

Won't be long until I kick your ass, Alpha, I playfully responded, snapping my canines at him.

"We'll see about that, little mate," Cain kissed my nose, before getting off of me. "Now hurry up and go get ready so we can go to Red Crescent. We're leaving in an hour."

I nodded and went into the bathroom to shower. Cain agreed to an impromptu fight in our room so I could work out some of my aggression before going to Red Crescent. My wolf was incredibly on edge, eager to kill anyone who disrespected us. I knew Cain was worried I would kill too many Red Crescent members, which according to him, would be a "bad idea". What a buzzkill.

I showered and got dressed in black leggings, black boots, a tight black long sleeve shirt, and my black cloak. I typically wore my fur cloak that Cain gave me, but I know that Red Crescent members have learned to fear and respect my cloaked figure. They had seen me kill enough people in it to know that I do not play games.

"I see you decided not to take Cain's advice to ease up on the intimidation," Axel commented once I went downstairs, where him and the other warriors accompanying us were waiting.

Cain doesn't know what he's talking about. Trust me, I know how to control Red Crescent members. This is my domain, not his. I responded, smirking as I pulled up my cloth mask over my mouth and nose.

"Want to spar really quick before we leave? You could take out some of your aggression on me so you're less likely to kill someone," Axel offered, his eyes aglow with excitement at the prospect.

Thanks for offering, but Cain and I already were sparing all morning, I responded and the excitement in his eyes diminished as I turned down his offer.

"Okay, another time then," He said with an edge in his voice I didn't recognize.

We spar all of the time, Axel. What's the matter? You're acting weird, I laughed at his strangeness.

Axel's face reddened as he glared at me. "You're so irritating, I just miss having an excuse to punch you in the face."

I was howling with laughter, and Axel joined in too. He had been getting better lately at landing hits on me. I wish I could give myself all of the credit since he learned from sparing with me, but it was likely mostly due to the fact that he was the Beta now.

Unfortunately, my laughing attack turned into a coughing fit, and out of nowhere, Lucas appeared,
ready to serve.

"Luna, are you okay? Should I get the pack doctor?" He questioned, surveying the room for a threat. Lucas was a former pack warrior, who became the Delta of Blood Lake once Carter died, and then became the Gamma once Axel replaces Jax the Traitor as Beta. He was a decent guy, and a fantastic warrior for someone with no Gamma bloodline, but I just had one issue with him.

I'm fine, Lucas. I just coughed, no need to alert the media. Stop hovering, I scolded him for what felt like the millionth time.

His eyes scanned over my body to make sure that I really wasn't harmed, and when he deemed that I was safe, he nodded once and stepped away, but didn't take his eyes off of me.

Lucas took his Gamma duties extremely seriously. In general, he was a very serious and stoic guy. I had never seen him smile, and I respected how his demeanor made most wolves nervous around him. He reminded me a lot of myself while I was in Red Crescent.

The only issue with how committed he was to his duty was that he was constantly hovering over me and making sure that I wasn't dying. Cain often assigned him to guard me due to this quality. I was thankful that when I first got to Blood Lake, my original guard hadn't been as watchful of me as Lucas is. Carter.

My eyes glossed over as I remembered how easily I had been able to evade Carter when I first got kidnapped by Cain. I had even shot him in the leg with an arrow before. Even though he died months ago, the pain still felt fresh, and I wasn't used to mourning the dead.

A hand on my waist snapped me out of my thoughts. Pup? Are you okay?

Cain. Yes, I responded to his mindlink. Just thinking about Carter.

Realization replaced the concern on his visage. Why don't we go visit Rose and Lily when we get back?

I cringed. I had been avoiding them ever since I learned I couldn't have pups. Seeing Rose with Lily made me envious, and despaired by my circumstances.

Maybe, I acquiesced even though I had no intention of going. Cain was mollified by my answer, and bent down to kiss the top of my head.

He turned to address the pack warriors who were waiting for us to begin our journey to Red Crescent. "We will be taking 3 cars. Ares and I will be in one with Zach and Noah," I looked at the two pack warriors, both of which were highly impressive in combat. Noah had even managed to break my arm once when we sparred. "Axel in another with two warriors, and Lucas in the last with the rest of the warriors attending." All of the wolves nodded.

While we were gone, the pack would be watched by the new Delta, Elijah. Elijah was a distant relative of Cain, although there are several bloodlines in between them. However distant the relation, Elijah demonstrated high levels of strength, and it wasn't hard to believe he held relation to the Blood Alpha.

Cain wasn't too worried about leaving the pack in Elijah's hands. He had known him since they were pups, and he knew that rogues were too scared of Blood Lake to try to attack while he was gone, in fear of retribution.

We began piling into the large black SUVs, Cain and I in the backseat with Zach driving and Noah in the passenger seat.

Y'know what would be way more fun to ride in? A jeep. You should look into getting some of those instead of these big clunkers. Way more agile and can cover more terrain, I suggested to Cain, a few moments into the drive.

He rolled his eyes. Not enough protection.

I sighed heavily and crossed my arms. Okay, so get me one and I won't leave Blood Lake territory, I promise.

Cain rolled his eyes again. I had asked him for a car multiple times, but he wouldn't budge on his stance for some reason. I had a feeling he was worried I may try to leave him, even though we were way past that point.

We'll talk about it later, pup, his voice firm, and I knew he really meant no by that.

Even though we still had a couple hours left in the trip, I decided to annoy Cain by giving him the silent treatment. I scooted as far away from him as possible in the back seat and leaned against the door. Noah made eye contact with me in his side view mirror, and I winked at him. He smiled cunningly in response, knowing I was giving his Alpha hell.

Don't start with me, Ares. Cain warned.

Start what, Alpha? It's just more comfortable over here, I responded innocently, breaking my silence.

Are you sure about that? He asked, making me furrow my eyebrows in confusion. What did he mean by that?

All of a sudden, the side of the door increased in warmth until it became burning hot. I hissed as my hand was singing from the heat.

Asshole, I muttered at Cain as I half-heartedly threw a punch at him, which he easily caught. He kissed my fist, which almost made me forget why I was mad to begin with.

Just like old times, pup, his eyes held a mischievous glint as he recalled doing that to me in the car when he first kidnapped me.

I snorted at the memory. Should I spit on you again to really refresh your memory, Alpha?

He winked. I wouldn't mind that.

I wrinkled my nose in disgust. Perv, I said,
making him laugh aloud suddenly. He brought me in closer to his chest, and caressed the scars on my face soothingly. You should sleep before we get to Red Crescent, Cain suggested, and since I was tired, for once, I didn't argue .

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I woke up just as we were about to cross into Red Crescent territory. The guards were told of our visit, and let us through without hesitation.

I sat up, instantly alerted now that we were on enemy territory. Even though it used to be my old pack, I was not unaware of the fact that this land was incredibly hostile and tumultuous now that their Alpha was missing.

Despite Cain telling me not to kill anyone, I really felt like setting an example was the right way to handle the rebellions that were beginning to stir. I know Red Crescent wolves better than he does, even though he thinks he knows more since he's an experienced Alpha.

Please control your bloodlust, mate. We don't want to make things worse. We are trying to dissipate the problem, not add fuel to it, Cain told me, as if he was reading my mind.

Yes, Alpha, I sarcastically responded. I still didn't take orders from him.

He sent me a warning glare, but didn't press the issue.

All three SUVs emptied as we reached the Pack House. I stood next to Cain, Axel stood to my right, and Lucas was on Cain's left, with the rest of the pack warriors following behind.

Before we reached the door, Sebastian opened it and greeted us with a smile, his blond hair catching the sunlight. "Hey, sis," He said teasingly,
making me snort. He was shocked by the news initially and didn't believe it, but a blood test proved that Wilson was in fact, both of our fathers'.

I nodded at him, a small smile playing on my face. "Let's begin discussing the matter at hand," Cain interrupted, all business.

Sebastian cast his eyes on Cain and nodded once. "Of course, Alpha," He said, keeping his tone respectful. "This way."

Seb guided us into the same conference room where I saw Cain for the first time. Cain must have been thinking the same thing as me, because he reached out and squeezed my hand.

Red Crescent pack leaders sat around the table, standing up respectfully once we entered. I nodded at Beta Samuel and Gamma Omar, who was the former Delta until I left and he rose in rank. I turned, curious to see who the new Delta was.

I almost gasped aloud when I saw who received the Delta position. Mason.

"You're looking well, Ares. Being Luna suits you," My former fuck-buddy smirked at me.

Oh fuuu-
