"And then she was like, 'No means no, douchebag'! Pow!" Gwen got on her knees and pretended to punch the imaginary person as she reenacted the scene from the parking lot for Thane for the fourth time.

Thane laughed, his arms wrapped around his blushing mate. Onyx covered her face with her hands. "Oh my gosh, I'm begging you Gwen, stop telling this story."

Gwen snorted. "No way, buttercup. That was way too legendary. Pow! Haha!"

Gwen was laughing so hard tears were streaming down her face, and it was pretty obvious she was already pretty drunk. Her, Thane, Onyx, Axel, Lucas, Leo, and the Gamma of Blue Moon, named Jason, and I were scattered on various chairs and couches around the fireplace in the Pack House living room.

After dinner, we had all been drinking quite heavily, with the exception of Onyx and Thane. Even I was already fairly tipsy, and everything became a million times funnier.

"It seems I made a mistake in assuming that Ares would be the bodyguard of the trip," Thane laughed and pinched Onyx's pink cheek, and she slapped his hand away with a smile.

Even Axel was laughing, finally having taken the stick out of his ass. "Maybe you should be training me, Nyx."

She facepalmed and hid her face in Thane's chest with a groan. "I will never live that down."

"Absolutely not," Leo agreed, his cheeks flushed from the alcohol. "I can't wait until you and Thane have pups and we can tell them about how their mother assaulted a human."

Onyx's blush deepened, and Thane pulled her closer and smiled at her, looking at her with such admiration and love it made my throat clench tightly.

Pass me the bottle, I told Axel, and he handed me the bottle of Bourbon he was drinking from. I chugged the remainder of it, appreciating the way it made my chest burn.

I'm going to go to bed, goodnight everyone, I excused myself, getting up from the couch that Axel and I were sprawled on.

"Boo," Gwen pouted. "It's only midnight, you're such a bore."

I just rolled my eyes and flipped her off as I went upstairs, but not before taking another bottle of alcohol with me.

Once I returned to my room, I went into the bathroom and began to run a hot bath, dumping half of the bottle of bubble bath in the tub. While I waited for the tub to fill up, I took another swig from the bottle, heavily feeling the effects.

Once I got into the tub, I sighed in relaxation, enjoying the scalding hot water. Cain always said it was a good thing that he was immune to heat, otherwise he would have third degree burns from how hot I always make the water.

Whether from the exhaustion or the alcohol, I could soon feel myself begin to get sleepy, and closed my eyes, telling myself it would just be for a minute.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I scowled at Cain. "What do you mean, no?" I asked, glaring at him.

"Unless the definition of the word 'no' has changed recently, then I mean exactly what I said. No," He rolled his eyes.

"You can't stop me from training," I argue. "Haven't you been listening to the Pack Doctor? He said exercise is healthy for me."

Cain sighed, putting his hands on both sides of my face. "I believe his exact words were that light exercise is healthy. Not sparring with wolves three times your size and taking punches while 7 months pregnant."

He moved his hands to my swollen belly, gently caressing the bump. "Same thing," I insist.

"Oh, mate," He laughs, and gets on his knees. He pulls up my tank top, exposing the bump that held our pup. He kisses it gently. "You don't want to hurt our unborn son, do you?"

"Of course not," I scoff, folding my arms.

"Because it was your fault the first one died," He said, still peppering kisses on my stomach.

My throat goes dry. "What did you just say?"

He looks up, his eyes a warm brown. "You killed our first pup. You did it on purpose with the wolfsbane, we both know it."

I clench my fists, and I can feel tears streaming down my face. "You know... You know it was an accident... I didn't... I would never..."

"But you did," He says gently, patting my stomach. "It's not like you would have been able to be a mother anyways. You don't have a nurturing bone in your body. I'm helping the baby by killing it now, saving him the pain of having you as a mother."

"What?" I choke out.

Out of nowhere, he pulls out a sharp dagger, and stabs my stomach right in the middle. I scream, and fall to the floor. I try crawling away, but he is too fast, and rips the knife out before plunging it into me, over and over again.

I gasp, and grab my stomach that is submerged in cold water. Perfectly flat, with no gashes in sight.

Three loud knocks sound on the bathroom door. "Ares, if you don't respond in two seconds, I'm breaking this door down, I swear on the Moon Goddess I will!" I can hear Axel yelling on the other side of the bathroom door.

I'm fine, I call out, trying to catch my breath. I'm fine, I'll be out in a minute.

I drain the cool bath water, and put on the clothes I set aside for when I got out. I open the bathroom door, which Axel is pressed up against. "What the hell happened? I heard screaming and I've been knocking."

It's nothing, Axel, I mumble, and crawl into bed, shaking slightly.

"You're shaking, Ares," He says, and sits on the side of my bed. "It's not nothing."

I just fell asleep in the bath, it's nothing, I close my eyes, but all I can see is Cain, looming over me with a bloodied knife. I snap my eyes back open.

Axel gets off the bed and paces. "I don't know what to do anymore, Luna. I try being there for you, talking to you, and you just shut me down every time."

Let it go, Beta, I warn him. Please. I'm tired, and I just want to go to sleep. We can talk about this another time.

"Fine, but I'm not letting it go. This isn't normal. I'll be next door if you need me." And with that, he leaves, closing the door behind him.

I sigh, pulling the covers over my head. I finally was able to fall asleep again, but until I did, the memory of Cain stabbing my pregnant stomach, hands bloody and eyes soft haunted me until the early hours of the morning.
