Tell Onyx to stay low to the ground, I commanded Axel.

She should run and get away from the gas, Axel argued.

Do not argue with your Luna. She needs to stay here so I can make sure no one takes her or kills her once she leaves my sight, I spoke resolutely, and he followed my order. Thane would kill me if anything happened to his mate, and the only way I could ensure her safety was if I had her in my line of sight.

Sure enough, soon ten masked men were surrounding us. I threw the knife I summoned into one of them, and it pierced his heart. Instantaneously dead.

I summoned another one and threw it into a man's neck, which led to blood spurting everywhere. Meanwhile, Axel transformed his fist into titanium and began to punch out some of the men, but I could feel through the pack bond that the wolfsbane was seriously weakening him. My suspicions were confirmed when he fell to his knees, and I was mildly concerned by his shallow breathing and his skin blistering.

Despite the fact that I had stopped ingesting wolfsbane once I learned that it was contributing to my infertility, I must have still had leftover resistance due to consuming it for years, because the gas was only mildly irritating, making me feel slightly nauseous and dizzy, but not debilitatingly so.

Onyx was laying flat on the ground, but I could see that she was in pain. Her lack of status in a pack as well as general strength made the wolfsbane have a much more lethal impact. I knew I had to kill the rest of the men fast before there were any long term effects of it.

I summoned a sword and used it to decapitate the remaining of the men, who seemed to be weakened due to the wolfsbane, despite their masks. Their muscles must have began to atrophy from the toxic chemicals.

I looked to Onyx and saw blood dripping out of her eyes and Axel, whose nose was bleeding.

I was going to go get Onyx, but five more men appeared, all of whom were less weakened by the wolfsbane from not being exposed to it for as long. Even I could feel myself wanting to succumb to unconsciousness.

I used knives to kill four of the men before they could even react, but the fifth man was ready for my assault and could dodge my knives. I had the feeling that my aim was suffering due to my head spinning.

The man had one a backpack with some kind of nozzle. Ah, the one who was spraying the wolfsbane gas. I would make his death painful.

He approached me as I swayed, and when he was about to grab me, I used the proximity to plunge my hand into his chest and rip his heart out.

I tossed it to the side as his body crumpled, and wiped the blood off of my hands before I picked Onyx up and rushed her away until we were far from the gas. She inhaled the clean air deeply, a good sign. I dropped her somewhat gently so I could get Axel.

I sprinted into the fog to get Axel, whose nose and ears were gushing blood. I helped him up, and put his arm around my shoulder so he could put his weight on me.

We slowly but surely walked away from the gas were Onyx was still on the ground. Her breathing was raspy and I could hear the lung damage.

I squatted next to Onyx and jerked her chin up to look at me. I examined her eyes and face, and nothing looked too worrisome. Even her eyes had stopped bleeding.

Her hands however, were covered in blisters. Nothing too deadly, but I was sure Thane would nag me about it.

"Ares," Onyx's raspy voice spoke. "Your nose."

I furrowed my eyebrows and brought my hand up to my nose, where I felt the familiar thick wetness of blood.

I shrugged it off, and Axel seemed to be doing fine too. "We have to go back and tell Cain and Thane," Axel insisted.

Did the wolfsbane ruin your brain cells? Cain will lose his sh*t if he finds out we were attacked on Blue Moon territory, I couldn't believe Axel. The last thing I needed was another Cain overreaction.

He needs to know! Axel argued back, surprisingly passionate about this. He can't protect you if he doesn't know what's going on. We can't lose you again.

Ah. He was recalling the last time I got abducted. Fine. We tell Cain. But only because I don't know how else to describe Onyx's state.

He looked relieved, and told Onyx we're going back. She tried to stand to her feet, but her legs were too shaky and gave out.

"Here, I got you," He gently spoke, and picked her up and cradled her.

I led them back to the pack house, following our original scents. Since Blue Moon wasn't snowy this time of year, it was easier to track scents.

"What the fuck happened," Cain growled ferociously as soon as we entered. He was on his feet instantly and heading towards us. Oh, boy.

Thane quickly rushed to Onyx, and despite Thane's typical blank face, he looked concerned for his mate. It was kind of sweet.

Cain took off my bloody cloak and inspected me, and seemed to relax after not seeing any wounds.

"Axel, what happened?" Thane echoed Cain's earlier question. Ah, sh*t.

"Wolfsbane gas. We were attacked by 15 men. None survived," Axel answered and looked down. I could feel his shame from the pack bond, likely because he only killed two.

Sure enough, Cain began to shake in anger as he bellowed, "This pack isn't safe. Ares, you're coming back to Blood Lake with me."

I snarled at him in fury. Who does he think he is? You know I'm not going to abandon them, Cain.

Cain's face darkened. You will do as I say. I am your mate and your Alpha.

We will see about that, Alpha, I sneered the last word at him.

I crouched down, ready to attack. Being Cain, he also was ready to fight.

I summoned a knife and threw it hard and fast, aiming for his collarbone. Non-lethal, but will hurt like a b*tch.

He swatted it away, and looked even more pissed off. His eyes were so black I could nearly see my reflection in them.

I will say though, I was surprised when he summoned fire and threw it at me. He was rarely angry enough to use his Gift against me, but I also knew he was taking it easy on me, which only infuriated me more.

I merely kicked away the fire, and charged at him. I used the power from the running to fuel the punch I threw at him, but he saw it coming and evaded it. He threw one at my side, but I grabbed his fist and broke his wrist back.

I thought that would buy me a second, but he used the opportunity to throw another punch at my jaw. Fortunately, I ducked at the last second and used the fact that he was unbalanced from the punch to try to kick his feet out from under him.

Due to how large he was, the action only made him stumble. He stepped on my leg hard enough to break my ankle, which made a satisfying crunching sound.

I heard Onyx whispering to Thane, but I was too preoccupied with my mate to focus much on what she was saying. If Thane didn't warn her this is how we settle arguments, I'm sure she was confused.

I leapt up off of the ground and threw another punch. I was slightly slow, and Cain grabbed my fist and twisted my arm behind my back.

Knowing he wouldn't expect me to be willing to break more bones to get out of the hold, I did a front flip which made him release his grip.

This of course tore my rotator cuff and broke some other bones, but I jerked them back into place. I heard Onyx inhale sharply.

I summoned a small blade and quickly sent it into Cain using my injured arm, who wasn't expecting me to use it so fast. It landed in his lower left torso, and he snarled as he ripped it out. I had thoroughly pissed him off.

"That is enough, Ares," He growled at me, and I thought he would send another punch my way, likely to my head to really knock me out for the count.

To my surprise, he just wrapped his arms around me and maneuvered us so I was cradled in his arms. I tried kicking and punching him, but my efforts were fruitless.

It didn't really surprise me when his canines dropped and he sank them into his mark on my neck. He often did that when he really wanted to establish his dominance.

The mark instantly had a pleasuring effect on me, and I felt my body relax into his. I was, however, surprised when he didn't release his canines from my neck, but instead kept them in deep.

He quickly began moving to the staircase and when we were on the third floor, he went to the large guest room where we always stayed when we came to visit Thane.

He threw me none too gently on the bed after removing his canines from me, and stalked towards me with his eyes completely black.

I smirked in victory. There was no way he was telling me no after this.

AN: (WARNING: Rant incoming)
If you tell me I need to update faster, don't be upset when I come at you hot as fck. This is my ninth upload in less than a week. None of the books in my library get updated anywhere near that often. I think some people may fail to realize what takes you 5-10 minutes to read can take hours to write.

This is in no way @ the people asking me to upload again or anything! Only the ones who complain about my uploading speed. Like damn, y'all are rude as hell and I have no issue giving attitude back!

Most of the comments are actually nice and thanking me for uploading, but damn was I shocked when less than an hour after updating Onyx chapter 13, I already had two people telling me to upload faster, when that was my 8th chapter in 4 days.

Anyways sorry for the rant. Most of y'all are amazing and perfect and deserve the world, and I love reading the comments and your guys' private messages!
