Lethal Affair

Prologue:

Mrs Morrison:

The ballroom was packed with guests, gentlemen in smart suits and ladies in their long, elegant gowns.  Most of the guests held a glass of liquor in their hand and were engaged in small conversations, a few were dancing away on the polished marble floor of the ballroom.

I glanced around the room, everything was perfect. Everything was going smoothly and as according to plan. I smiled in satisfaction the weeks of planning this party for my husband’s birthday had paid off well. I took a sip of wine, enjoying the lively chatter of the guests which drowned out the beautiful melody that the violinists were playing.

“Mrs Morrison, you look absolutely gorgeous!” A lady complimented me as she set her gaze on my long, fitting, salmon coloured gown.

“Why thank you. You look absolutely beautiful yourself.” I returned the compliment, admiring her beautifully curled brown hair and her violet gown.

We chatted for a moment until my husband, Henry Morrison stood beside me and placed his arm around my waist. “I’m sorry but would you excuse us for a moment.” Henry took my hand and led me to the balcony, away from the guests.

I gazed at him, his jet black hair shone under the moonlight, his matching black eyes stared directly into my chocolate brown eyes. I must say Henry looked stunning in that smart suit of his. Just then, I noticed that his bow tie was a little crooked and I adjusted it for him.

“Thank you, dear.” Henry began, “For everything. This birthday party is amazing.” He continued, flashing me a smile.

“I’m glad you enjoyed it.” I replied, flashing him back a smile.

“Would you care to dance with me?” My husband bowed, stretching out his hand.

I took his hand and we made our way to the dance floor and began to dance. Words could never describe how I felt, I was genuinely happy to be spending some time with my husband. Henry was always busy with work, he rarely had time to spend with me, or our son, Damien.

Everything was beautiful at that moment, but of course, nothing beautiful ever last. Just that, I didn’t expect that this beautiful moment would end so abruptly and quickly.

Everything happened so fast. A loud gunshot was heard, I felt a bullet whizz past me. In the next heartbeat, I witnessed the bullet pierce my husband’s heart, staining his white suit. Henry collapsed to the ground immediately.

I felt my head spin like a whirlwind, shouts and cries echoed throughout the ballroom. Henry lay on the ground, motionless and lifeless. He was gone, just like that. It never occurred to me how life could be so fragile, like a dandelion. One blow and your life will be blown to bits.

“Look!” A man shouted, pointing to the second floor of the ballroom.

I swung my head around to take a look. I was just in time to watch a white rose fall delicately from the second floor to the ground.

“Mrs Morrison? Mrs Morrison?”

I heard my name being called, followed by a knock on the door and immediately snapped out of my day dream. “Come in.”

One of the servants came in, holding a parcel in his hand. “Mrs Morrison, there is a parcel for you.”

“Put it on my table.” I instructed.

He nodded his hand and did as he was told. “Good, you may leave now.” I said. He bowed and left the room, carefully closing the door.

I sighed, as I looked at the family picture placed on my desk. It was a picture of my husband, my son and I at the famous Eiffel Tower in France, Paris. It had been three years since my husband’s death and his death still remains a mystery. The killer is still unidentified and running loose on the streets. The reason of why the killer killed my husband was also unknown.

I looked at the unknown parcel, there was nothing scribbled on it, no name, no address, nothing. Curiously, I opened the parcel and let the things fall onto my desk. When I saw what was inside the parcel, my eyes widened in shock and horror. A gasp escaped my mouth before I could clamp it with my left hand.

The white rose lay on my desk, a note attached to it. “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

A/N: So how was it? Leave me your comments :D Right, this story is pretty much a teacher-student romance kind of story but, it's a female teacher and a male student! Oh right and the Point of view would be on the teacher and the student. I know the prologue is kind of short butchapter one is quite uh...long not to worry. Hope you enjoyed it! Remember to vote, if you think this chapter deserves a vote. Comment and fan me if you think I deserve a fan. :)
