27 | a deep cut

The one who notice the storms in your eyes, the silence in your voice and the heaviness in your heart are the ones you need to let in.

I chose the option of hiding behind the door of my room but as I wrapped my fingers around the doorknob, he was already behind me. He grabbed me by the arm before I could even react to his presence. I realized that we were no longer in the hallway but in an isolated room which I guessed no one used or wasn't allowed to. "Let me go! I need to go and feed Ness!"

Nate pressed one of my arms on the wall, pressed one of his hand beside me and had one of his foot against the wall as well. I was trapped. It was so surreal I felt like I was in a cage.

"Again, let me ask, what was that about a quickie?" He looked down at me.

"What quickie?" I looked back at him. I stared at him and awaited for a scary response.

"Answer the question Lowell," he demanded. "I didn't ask for you to answer with a question, did I?"

When he said that I couldn't help but to think of Jane. Shut up... not now.

"I don't know, did you?" I shrugged. I slapped myself mentally so hard.

"Alix." He clenched his teeth and slammed his hand against the wall, making me flinch.

"I didn't have a quickie or anything," I answered without knowledge of my tone until soon after. "Why would you think I would have one with Nick. Nick! I can't believe you!"

"Shut up-"

"No!" I screamed. "Don't tell me to shut up! Those were just rumors and you believed them. That just makes you the worst. Huh, I guess you can't trust me can you?!"

"I'm not-"

"I'm not finished!" I fought to get out of his grip as I argued with him. That was until he did something bizarre. His lips were on mine and his hands roamed my body. It was frightening. It would've been even more frightening if it actually happened.

He was only joking as he didn't care. Nate only told me to get to training. I guess that was what my mind wanted as I dreamt about it. I didn't get to training until after I took a nap - where the dream occurred - and showered.

When I entered the training room, I realized the eyes that were on me and the whispering. Maybe it was someone else? I looked behind me to see no one. I sighed and did three laps as I was told to do by someone. As I dried myself with a towel someone frightened me by jumping in front of me while shouting out my name. I stared at Tay and laughed with her.

"How can you get scared so easily?" Tay asked while shaking her head in disappointment. "We need to give you a test of courage."

"I don't get scared easily," I furrowed my eyebrows as she nodded her head, agreeing. I slapped her hand playfully.

"But anyway.." Tay looked at me seriously. "I have been observing a lot and I happened to be there yesterday with you, Nick and Aron. I wanted to ask you yesterday, which is why I grabbed your hand but that idiot stopped me from doing that. What happened with you and Aron? Aron isn't like that kind of person who keeps pussy feelings. He's cool and okay towards everything. His expression is vacant most of the time but he shows expressions. But he seemed different."

I looked up at her and wondered how Aron was. Different? "What do you mean different? He.. never mind."

"What?" She tilted her head. "Are you not ready to tell me? Alix, if you don't talk to me I won't know these things you know."

"No.. it's not that I'm not ready.." I looked up as she awaited for an answer. "Aron, he told me how he felt about me.." I struggled to continue as she stared at me waiting for me to finish. "He told me he liked me.. a lot."

She shouted out "what" so loud that everyone was looking at us and I had to cover her mouth. "Woah, I wasn't expecting that! Christ, Aron saying he liked you? And him liking you? I don't think I've gagged and been surprised so much right now."

"Tay!" I yelled at her. "Stop it.."

"Sorry, it's just surprising since Aron isn't that type of person," she said and blinked a lot. "He's been a great actor this whole time hasn't he? Never mind that, I know you don't feel the same way about him. You aren't going to drag him along, are you?"

"No, I'll tell him today.." I said truthfully. Hopefully I had as much as much as courage as much as the truth.

"Let me help you stretch while we talk," she said while pointing at the ground. I sit down as she pushed my back down while I stretched to touch my toes.

"What happens after you tell him?" Tay questioned and I wondered about the same thing. "What if he refuses? What if he accepts it?"

"I don't know.." I said sadly. "Hopefully it'll be all okay after because I don't want the same feeling as I got after what had happened with Jane. Then Nick, I thought I lost him when he walked away from me."

"I can promise you if anything happens between you and those jackasses that I'll have something special on display from them," she said mischievously. "Speaking of the boys, how has it been with Jase?"

When I heard his name, I turned around and looked at her. She looked at me with an awaiting expression. "I don't know.. I haven't seen him. And even if I speak to him, I don't know if I can speak to him normally as I used to."

"I know, it takes time," she said reassuringly. "But Jase.. he did it for a reason, I know it. He couldn't have done it on his own. Jase is a good guy. He's even been coming to me about you. He asked how you've been and if you're okay. Jase is really sweet Alix. He's really hurting now. I hope you give him a chance."

"Tay, even if you say that it's not that easy," I sighed. "I know everything that came out of your mouth is true and all but it'll take time. Thanks for telling me.. and I hope I give him a chance too."

"Alix?" A voice that surprised both Tay and I said.

"Oh, if it isn't Aron," Tay said with a smirk. She grabbed me and pulled me up. Tay was still helping me to stretch and so she bent me over so my back lined with my legs and I was touching my toes.

"Don't you think Alix looks great in her tights? Not that I told you to look - don't look! Oh, do you want to help her stretch? Wait, no, you can't touch her and you'll probably hear her groan, so no, you're not allowed to touch. Off bounds. Got that?"

I stared at her in disbelief as she stopped helping me to stretch and pushed me up back. I mouthed her a whole conversation and she shrugged and shook her head. "Well hasn't my week been eventful. A guy claiming to be the one and this," she whispered.

"What?" I shouted and that made everyone look at me. Ray raised her eyebrows at me and smirked. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well, I want to throw up so I'll be going now."

"Wait- Tay!" But she was already walking off and I contemplated whether I should run after her. She gestured a stop sign with her hand as she turned around.

Aron rolled his eyes and she stuck her tongue out at him. "Anyway, we need to talk."

"Yeah, I know," I said awkwardly and walked towards the same bow I used the other day. I took up the quiver and slung it across my back and walked back towards the target area.

"Can we talk somewhere else?" He suggested.

"Can't we do it here?" I asked sweetly. Right now, as much as it sounds selfish, I didn't want to see his face.

"Um, I guess it's okay," he said as I pulled out an arrow from my quiver. "About what happened, about what I said, I meant what I said about how I liked you and how I cared about you. But I realized I was stupid for saying anything. Nothing would change wouldn't it? You already have Nate. I'm stupid for thinking I could change anything. What would happen afterwards? I thought about that and came to a conclusion. I think we should just stay friends."

I unconsciously released the arrow and it ended up going way off the target. I looked at him with much surprise. "You.. what? You want to stay friends?"

"Yeah." Aron folded his lips. "I honestly don't want to lose you or anything so I think it's for the best."

I was so happy that I dropped my bow and hugged him tightly. I thanked him so much and realized how stupid and embarrassing it was to do that to Aron. And very ignorant as well. I released him quickly and he looked down on me with an awkward look.

"You can't just hug me afterwards, dummy," he flicked my forehead.

"Ow.. it was a friendly hug.." I insisted.

"I know," he said with a smile and I wondered if it was the same forceful smile Austin used. I hoped it wasn't.

I patted Ness' head after I had giving her food. I sighed, "I'd honestly be happier if you were my mate. I mean, at least you'd give me attention, right?"

She stuck her tongue out and tilted her head as usual. "It's too bad I don't have a thing for girls, right? One day Ness. We'll get a biig house together and we'll live there and do whatever the hell we want. I could even maybe give you a lot of male dogs? Sounds good?"

She continued to stare at me. "What am I saying to a dog?"

I flashed my head around when I heard a knock on the door. It was Austin. I looked at him awkwardly and he looked back at me with his charming smile that made girls feel like mush. "Hey." He said.

"Hi Austin," I said quietly while petting Ness.

"Are you okay in here?" Austin asked.

"I'm fine," I said and looked up to see him beckoning someone. She stood at the door with something in her hand. It was a dry cleaning plastic bag.

"Dr. Reynolds.." I looked at her confusingly. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to use the opportunity to see how you were doing." She smiled at me but it wasn't a happy one. For once it wasn't a happy one.

"Thanks.. I guess," I shrugged.

"Can you leave us two alone?" Austin asked kindly. I didn't hear anything so I assumed she just agreed and left. Austin walked in and I felt him sit on the bed. "Alix."

I groaned and pushed myself off the floor to sit beside him. I looked at him. "Whaat?"

"Don't what me," he sighed. "And please don't be difficult. I'm really not in the mood for your childishness."

"If you're going to argue with me Austin, I suggest you take the door as an exit," I said while my eyes were formed into thin slits. You can't just enter my room and talk to me like that.

"Sorry sweetheart." He rubbed his eyes like he was stressed out. "I didn't mean to say that. I'm just not feeling it this week."

"I'm sorry too," I responded quietly.

"Do you know about the ball?" Austin asked me and I nodded. I heard about it once.

"Are you planning on going?" He asked another.

"I guess if I have a dress then I'll go," I told him truthfully. "I don't have a date.."

"You have Nate don't you?" He said as a statement rather than a question. "He's automatically your date isn't he? Even if he doesn't bring you I'll just force him to go."

"I don't think he wants to go with me," I said honestly.

"He marked you, didn't he?" I stared at him. How did he know? "A boy who marks a girl can't not have any feelings towards the girl. You're a little bit too naïve Alix. If he did, that means he does have feelings. I'm surprised you haven't caught on."

"Can we not have Nate as the subject here?" I asked in the kindest voice I could use at the moment.

"Sorry," he said and picked up the bag with some piece of garment in it. He started to unzip it. "You have the dress covered already." He handed it to me and I stared at in awe. It was beautiful.

"Wow...." I said dreamily. It was a long matte colored gray dress with a see through laced pattern at the neck and I realized that it had a gown connected to it at the back.

"It's supposed to fit you since your aunt adjusted it last year with your body measurements," Austin stated.

"She did?" I smiled. "It must've been when I went to school."

I'm going to wear this at the ball? It's so pretty.. I honestly can't wait to show Tay and Rena this.

"It was your mothers." When he said that, my head snapped towards his direction. "Your aunt kept it since your mother planned to see you wearing it one day. But since after what happened, Jane decided that she'd see you in it for her. Both of them aren't here so.. I'd love to see how beautiful you'll look at the ball in that dress."

I denied none of his words nor my feelings. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I hugged Austin. He held me tight and rubbed my back all through the way. I was definitely going to go to the ball with dress and nothing was going to change that. Even if I had no date, I'll go for not only the sake of Austin but myself and those who wished to see me in it. Because they were watching and I wanted them to see.

Damn I wanna cry. Oml I can't wait til the next chapter. Shit goes dowwnn.
