BTS POV:

Hoseok woke up in a much better mood. He had spent the last three days texting Ray. She was funny and she made him laugh. He felt like he was getting to know her. The previous night, they had video chatted for over an hour. Jimin was still in the studio, so Hoseok lay on his bed and talked to Ray.

Hoseok had told her a little more about his family and how he had started getting hate from antis. He was surprised at the tears he had seen in her eyes. When he asked about them, she gave him a sweet answer. "I may not be a fan, but no one deserves to get hate. Especially someone as sweet and as handsome as you." After that comment, she made an excuse to hurry up and get off the phone.

Hoseok was touched at her response, but surprised that she had called him handsome. He wanted to text her, but he knew it was early. He decided to anyway. She probably didn't have her phone nearby.

Hobi:

Good morning Ray

5:32 AM

Ray:

Do you realize what time it is? L

5:33 AM

Hobi:

Sorry

I didn't think the phone would wake you

5:35 AM

Ray:

Well I'm awake

What's up?

5:37 AM

Hobi:

Nothing really

Just wanted to tell you good morning and have a great day

5:38 AM

Ray:

That's really sweet

But text me again this early in the morning, I will come to your house and strangle you

5:39 AM

Hobi:

Oohh

So now you want to come to my house? ;)

Didn't realize we were that close

lol

5:40 AM

Ray didn't respond to the text, so Hoseok assumed she had gone back to sleep. Even though it was super early in the morning, she had still managed to make him laugh.

Jimin came into their shared bedroom. "Jin hyung is making breakfast. You might want to hurry up and get ready," he said with a yawn. Jimin hadn't gotten home last night until after midnight.

Hoseok was a little worried about his friend. He wasn't eating great and he had spent a lot of time practicing. "Everything okay Jiminie?" he asked carefully.

Jimin shrugged his shoulders. "I'm alright, hyung. Just tired," he said.

Hoseok looked at him carefully. He could see the dark circles under Jimin's eyes. He would have to wait until Jimin was ready to talk. "I'm here if you need me, Jiminie," he said, putting a hand on the younger man's shoulder.

Jimin sighed. "I know. You better hurry and get some food before Jungkookie and Taehyungie eat it all," he said, turning and leaving the room.

Hoseok let out a sigh. Maybe Ray would have a suggestion on how to help. She was pretty smart and seemed to be really caring. He would text her later and ask her advice.

Ray POV:

Ray woke up a couple hours later, remembering the conversation with Hoseok. He really liked teasing her. She didn't want to admit it, but she had really enjoyed the conversation with him. He was witty, caring, and made her laugh. They had worked through the language barrier pretty easily. After being in Korea for almost four months, Ray was able to pick up on some of the language.

Since she didn't have work that day, Ray spent most of the time working on a drafting project for school. It was a difficult and challenging project, but it was something she had enjoyed doing. Her next project required her to visit a building or structure in Korea that she had never been to before and do an analysis on the architecture. There were so many beautiful places that it was hard to choose.

After a few hours of working, Ray decided to take a break. She had left her phone on silent since she knew she would get caught up checking out social media if she didn't. She checked it to find several text messages and two missed calls from Hobi.

Hobi:

Good morning again Ray J

9:28 AM

Hope you're having a good day

10:15 AM

If you have time, I would like your advice on something

12:21 PM

I hope you're not mad at me for this morning

1:58 PM

Missed call from Hobi

2:02 PM

Please text me back

2:43 PM

Ray? Please text me

3:19 PM

Missed call from Hobi

3:43 PM

Ray was surprised he had texted her so many times. She didn't realize how long she had been working. She had stopped around noon to eat a quick sandwich, but hadn't checked her phone. Hobi seemed pretty worried, so she texted him back.

Ray:

Sorry I missed all your messages

I was working on a project

4:08 PM

Hobi:

I thought you were mad at me

4:09 PM

Ray:

Not at all

It takes a lot more than an early morning wake up to make me mad

4:10 PM

Hobi:

That's good to know

4:11 PM

Ray:

What did you need advice on?

4:12 PM

Hobi:

Can I video chat with you later?

4:13 PM

Ray:

Sure

4:16 PM

Hobi:

It may be pretty late

I don't want my roommate to know I'm talking to you about this

4:18 PM

Ray:

I'm not working tonight

Whatever time you need is fine

4:19 PM

Hobi:

Thanks

I appreciate it

4:21 PM

I have to get to practice

I'll call you tonight

4:23 PM

Ray set down the phone and wondered what was going on. If he didn't want his roommate to hear the conversation, she assumed it was going to be about him. She didn't know who his roommate was and wasn't sure if she was going to ask him who it was.

BTS POV:

Hoseok waited until Jimin had fallen asleep before taking his phone and heading down to their gym. He sat down on the weight bench and checked the time. It was already after 12:30, but Jimin had just come in. He was clearly tired. He took a quick shower and flopped onto his bed in his boxer briefs, falling asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. He didn't even pull his blankets back.

Hoseok was worried about the time, but Ray did say whatever time was fine. He scrolled through his contacts to find her number and pressed the button to video chat with her. After one ring, she picked up the phone.

"Hey Hobi," Ray said. She looked tired, but didn't seem to be sleeping.

"Hi Ray. Thanks for letting me call you this late," Hoseok replied. He couldn't keep the worry out of his voice.

"Hobi?" she asked, now clearly wide-awake. "What's wrong?"

Hoseok took a deep breath. "I'm really worried about my roommate. He's not eating well and spends hours in the studio practicing. Even after we all leave," he explained, tears filling his eyes.

"Aww sweetie," Ray answered, and then blushed. "Oops sorry about that. So many years of waitressing, it comes out automatically."

Hoseok shook his head. "It's fine," he said.

"Have you talked to him about it? Ask him about why he's working so hard?" Ray asked.

Hoseok shook his head again. "No. He's very sensitive and I don't want to hurt his feelings," he replied.

Ray thought for a moment. "If you tell him your concerns, I don't think it will hurt his feelings. Did something happen that you don't know about?" she asked.

"I don't know. Possibly. We spend a lot of time together, but it could be something that happened after I left the studio," Hoseok said.

"I think you should talk to him," Ray said. "Tell him what you noticed and ask what happened. It shows what a good friend you are."

Hoseok nodded. "You're probably right. He's like my brother and I don't want to see him hurting himself like this," Hoseok said softly.

Ray nodded in understanding. "I get it. I do. Your members are clearly important to you. You want them to be happy and healthy," Ray replied.

Hoseok smiled at her astuteness. They had only been talking for a few days, but she still seemed to understand what he was going through.

They talked for a little while longer until Ray said she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. When Hoseok checked the time, he was surprised to see it was 1:43 AM. He hadn't realized the time had gone by so quickly.

Hobi left the gym and slipped quietly into his room. Jimin opened his eyes when Hoseok came in.

"Hyung," he said sleepily. "What are you doing up?"

"Just getting water, Jiminie," Hoseok said. "Can you come to my studio during lunch break tomorrow? I want to talk to you."

Jimin nodded. "Sure," he replied, before rolling over and going back to sleep.

Hoseok let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. Asking Jimin to meet him was the first step. Hopefully the next step would go just as smoothly.
