W I N T E R

I maintained a smile as the announcement came on but my smile froze when I heard my name mentioned.

Winter?

Wait, I'm Winter.

I'm getting married? To? Leonardo?

What's going on here?

I took a step back, to recollect my thoughts but ended up moving further back and as my head was filled with more thoughts, I turned back and ran away.

"Winter!" I heard someone call out to me from a distance but I did not stop. I just kept running.

With tears forming in my eyes, ready to spill at any moment, I ran outside and got into the first taxi I could see.

"Woods Estate." I mentioned to the driver and we started our trip.

After reaching my house, I instructed the security guard at the gate to pay the fare and to return to the house later to get the money back.

I had taken off my shoes and made my way to the house where I rang the doorbell but no one answered.

After waiting for a good frustrating five minutes the door was opened from inside.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I wa-"

"How dare you keep me outside for five minutes?! What the hell were you doing?!" I yelled at the maid before hitting her across the face.

"I w-"

"Never mind, I don't care, you're fired. I don't want to see your face in the morning." I yelled at her but my voice cracked midway due to my tears then I brushed my shoulder against hers as I walked inside the house.

I walked over to the living room and sat on the couch feeling betrayed and hurt that they would even consider arranging my marriage behind my back.

My eyes suddenly started to hurt and I felt a burning sensation on my eyes.

Must be that eyeliner or something.

The make up. The signs were all there I ignored it. This dress, my eyes darted down to the dress I had on. My hands trailed up to my neck where the necklace I had was and yanked it off.

Was Rachel also involved in this plot? Is that why she was showing me a wedding dress earlier?

The main opened to reveal my frantic family. Everyone rushed towards me with a look of shame on their faces. They all stopped when they reached my front like they didn't know how to approach me.

"What's wrong?" I scoffed and got up from my seat. "Can't say a word?" I attacked all of them.

"My darling," my mother started. "You know how much we care about you, we'd never make a decision that could hurt you." She said to me calmly.

"You thought you could make me happy by arranging my marriage behind my back?! Did you all forget that I've not been able to get over Damian! Did you forget I watched him die right before my very eyes?! Did you forget the only reason his life was cut short was because of me?! Why do you think I should enjoy life when I'm the reason he's dead!" I screamed at all of them as my voice cracked midway and I fall to the floor.

"Winter-" Rachel tried to call out.

"Stop it." I raised my hand was she walked towards me.

"You were in this as well?" I attacked her and she kept mute.

I picked myself up and wiped away my tears, "I'm not getting married to anyone and there's nothing any of you can do to change my mind." I warned them before going upstairs to my room.

After slamming the door loudly, I leaned against it and took a deep breath.

"It's alright," I told myself. "No one can force you into marriage." I assured myself before heading to the bathroom to wash off my make up, take a shower and then to my closet were I grabbed a two piece nightwear which was a pink hello kitty top and pink shorts.

I went to bed and grabbed my phone but I only saw messages about my wedding so I instead just turned my phone off but a knock on the door made me roll my eyes.

"Winter it's me, open up." Rachel knocked louder.

"Go away." I yelled loudly so she could hear but her knocking got louder and more aggressive.

"I'm not gonna stop knocking until you finally open this door." She banged on the door louder.

With a groan of frustration I opened the door and shot her death glares, "What do you want?" I asked her.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I just thought it would be good for you."

"Okay I'm gonna need you all to stop thinking for me."

"Winter..."

"Stop! I'm really mad at you! You're supposed to my friend before my sister and you willingly just-."

"I'm sorry. I'm doing this because I love you, Winter I can't bear to see you so sad and lonely."

"I'm not sad and neither am I lonely. My life is perfect the way it is."

"Listen, you have every right to be mad at me and our parents but think this through, you would be giving yourself a second chance at love."

"I don't want to fall in love with anyone! Stop this marriage talk and convince our parents against it."

"I won't."

I looked her dead in the eyes, "What?" I asked.

"I said I won't, I totally support their decision. Winter look at you, you're in your twenties! You're independent and successful and then you're also really beautiful! Any man would be lucky to have you in their life." She preached.

"I'm not getting married. Rach, you're supposed to have my back! Screw that, you're supposed to have Damian's back! How can you ju- just-" My voice cracked as a tear dropped on my cheek.

"It's not like Damian is alive!" She blurted out.

"Get out." I calmly told her.

"Don't do th-"

"I said get out! Don't you understand me?! I said get out!" I screamed at at her while tears kept falling on my cheek.

"I'm not getting married!"

"I'm not getting married!"

"I'm not getting married!"

"Do you all hear me, I'm not getting married!"

I kept chanting loudly for my whole family to hear as I paced around my room while pulling my hair with tears spilling out.

I won't betray Damian!

Yikes, writing this made me feel terrible for Winter.
