"Congratulations Mrs Castro, you are pregnant. Exactly seven weeks along." The small female gynecologist confirmed.

I felt a stirring in my chest as the doctor confirmed what we already knew.

"Oh my god Winter, this is huge!" Rachel bubbled over with enthusiasm.

"I know." I replied calmly trying to wrap my head around what was happening.

"I wonder if it's going to be a boy or a girl! When will you tell Leo? When are you going to start decorating the room? When will you tell mom and dad?!" Rachel gushed on our way home.

"Rachel please don't tell anyone yet. I want Leo to be the first to know." I warned as she dropped me off at my house.

How do I tell him?

I laid in bed and checked YouTube for some dramatic ways to reveal your pregnancy to your husband but they were way too dramatic. There's no way I'm going to make photocopies of my test result and paste them on the wall all over the room.

I could play nonchalant and leave the test result just casually laying on the bed so he could see it.

A knock on the door brought me back to my reality.

That's definitely not Leo or he wouldn't need permission to come inside.

"Come in." I dragged as I shifted to the edge of the bed.

Emilia walked in with a glass of juice in her hand. She dropped the tray on the bedside stool.

"Thank you Emilia." I smiled at her.

"I found this on the staircase." She lifted up a white paper which looked like the test result paper.

I immediately grabbed my purse from my bed and rummaged through it trying to be certain that it's not what I think it is.

It's not here.

My eyes darted towards what she held in her hand and I immediately reached for it.

"Did you open it?"

"Are you pregnant ma'am?"

My eyes widened and anger overtook my features. "Who told you that you could open this?"

"I'm sorry. I just saw a piece of paper casually laying on the floor and had to see if it was useful or not so I could dispose of it." She calmly explained.

I sighed, "I'm sorry, I don't know why I flared up like that." I apologized.

"Congratulations ma'am. Please stay hydrated." She congratulated as she gestured towards the juice she brought me.

"Thank you." I smiled and stretched to get the juice. "Is this apple?" I questioned when I tried it.

"It is, and a special fruit." She winked causing me to chuckle.

"No wonder it tastes different."

As I waited anxiously for Leo to return home, I started to feel hot and dizzy. Although it's spring is at its peak, I shouldn't feel this hot.

I laid on my bed hoping to feel better after I rest but I didn't. I got extremely sweaty and my throat felt dry. I reached for the jug beside my bed but it was empty.

"Emilia!" I called out but it only came out as a weak yell.

What's wrong with me?

I used my hand to search my bed for my phone. As I got a hold of it, I lifted up to my face and the brightness from the screen made me yelp. As my Face ID didn't work, I had to slowly type on the screen and immediately it opened I sighed.

"Hey Siri, please call Leo." I weakly said to my phone.

"Calling Leo." Replied my phone.

"Hey babe!" I heard his voice chirp.

I put the phone close to my mouth, "Leo please come h-"

I saw a figure before everything went black.

L E O N A R D O

That was weird.

"Leo who was that?"

"Winter."

"Oh, since you're done, can I continue? So as I was saying, I saw a photo of Rachel's engagement ring on-"

"Somethings not right." I murmured.

I picked up my phone and dialed her number but she didn't answer which is suspicious because she always answers.

She mentioned something about lunch with Rachel today, maybe she called by mistake?

Should I just call Rachel instead?

I dialed Rachel's number and she picked up almost immediately.

"Hey, did Winter already tell you?"

"Tell me what?"

"Nothing! I uh...Why did you call?"

"I'm trying to reach her but I can't, I feel anxious for some weird reason."

"We had lunch and I dropped her home. Maybe she's taking a nap or something."

"Yeah. Thanks." I nodded and hung up.

Rachel's right. She's probably taking a nap, why do I feel so unsettled? I guess I'll have to clock out early, I just need to see her.

"Where are you going?" Timothy asked.

Oh shit. I totally forgot Timothy is here.

"Let's continue this conversation at my house, I need to see Winter." I explained as I grabbed my keys and coat.

"You literally just talked to her and now you want to run home to her? Is that what love is?"

"Shut up."

Timothy and I drove to my house where I immediately rushed upstairs to the room and as I pushed the door open; I saw her lying there with her eyes closed.

I breathe a sigh of relief and walked closer to her.

"Hey honey, I'm home with Tim." I stood beside her but she didn't answer.

"Babe!" I poked her but she still didn't answer.

"Babe?" I poked her harder but there was no reaction.

"Winter!" I shook her but still no reaction.

My eyes widened in shock and heart jumped as I couldn't get a response out of her. I grabbed her arm and tried to find her pulse but it was getting weak.

I carried her bridal style and ran out of the room headed straight to my car. I gently placed her in the back seat and drove whilst turning back to look at her every five seconds till we reached the hospital.

When I reached the hospital, I immediately took her out and dashed straight to the emergency entrance wjere she was wheeled away into the emery's room.

I stared in horror as I saw Winter turning pale. No. Not this time. I can help now. I ran straight for the emergency room but the nurses wouldn't let me enter.

"You can't come in sir, I'm sorry." The blonde nurse in a scrub tried to reason with me.

"What the fuck do you mean? I'm a doctor. I'm a cardiologist! I can help!" I raised my voice at her.

"But we don't need your help right now, please calm down!"

"I won't-"

I went silent when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

Tim.

"Just calm down, she's going to be fine." He assured me.

I took a deep breath and sat in the hallway with him. What suddenly happened to her?

I took out my phone and texted Rachel that we were in the hospital, I need someone in her family to at least be aware of what's happening.

After a while, the doctor came out of her room and I hurried to meet him.

"How is she?"

"Who are you?"

"Her husband."

"I have some bad news." He sighed and gestured that I follow him to his office.

"What's wrong? She is okay right?" My ears craved to hear a positive response.

"Your wife is fine but we couldn't save your baby. We had to remove the fetus and pump her stomach to get rid of the poison."

"Baby? Poison? What? My wife was pregnant? How?"

"I don't think I need to explain the biology of how a woman gets pregnant but by the looks of it, I would say it's just about a couple of weeks old."

She was pregnant? With my baby? I was going to become a father?

Tears filled my eyes and were ready to spill at any moment.
