(Lincoln's POV)

"You get it?"

"Yeah."

"Any issues?"

"No, they weren't as busy as usual so they didn't have any problems fixing it early." Vick explained.

I nodded. "Good. Let's get going then."

We drove an hour and fifteen minutes before we reached our destination.

Tony, my driver, stayed in the car as usual while Vick came with me.

I was surprised when we reached his headstone and found a flower laying on top. It was a bit wilted, which told me it'd been there a while.

"Where'd this come from?" I asked, picking the flower up.

"I have no idea." Vick said. "Aren't you the only one that visits him?"

"I am." I nodded as I laid down the bouquet I brought.

"That man seems to work here. Want to ask if he knows anything?" Vick asked, pointing out a man about fifteen yards away.

"Yeah." I nodded.

Vick ran over to get the man and bring him back over.

"What can I help you with?" He asked.

"This flower, do you know who put it here?" I asked.

"A woman comes once a week and places one there. She used to put bouquets of them, but has changed to just putting one down."

"Once a week? How come this is the first time I'm seeing it?"

"You usually come on Sunday, right?"

"In the afternoon or evening." I nodded.

"Every Sunday morning, we go around and collect the dead flowers. We leave the artificial ones in place."

"Does the girl leave a flower or flowers anywhere else?"

"No. She places this one here, stays about five minutes, and then leaves. I figured she was a relative."

"I'm the only one that knows he's buried here." I explained.

"Oh I see."

"Do you know when she'll stop by again?"

"She comes every Monday. However, when she was bringing the bouquets, I told her that they were beautiful and she gave me a business card. I believe it is from the place she gets the flowers. It might still be in my office, but I also might've thrown it out. Want me to go check?"

"Yes, please. That'd be great." Vick spoke for me.

The man quickly ran to search for the card while Vick and I waited. I twirled the flower around in my hand by its stem. It was so withered that I couldn't tell what kind it was.

"Here it is. Enchanted Floristry is the name."

He handed my the card and I quickly snapped a picture of it.

"Thank you for your time." Vick said.

"Of course. I'll leave you to it then." He smiled before walking away.

I spent the next hour standing by the headstone and talking with him. Vick had gone back to the car after several minutes like usual.

Before I left, I made sure to grab the flower.

"Where to?" Tony asked.

I rattled off the address of the florist shop and we started on our way.

"It looks to be closed." Vick said as we pulled up in front of the shop.

"Should we try again tomorrow?" Tony asked.

"Door says that they closed at three and that they'll be closed tomorrow due to a family emergency."

"We will come back some other time." I said.

"Yes, Sir."

"Vick, find out what you can about this shop and the people who own it."

"I will get right on it."

I got back to my apartment and started working on a few things. It wasn't long before Vick called me.

"What'd you find?" I asked.

"The shop has been open for over several several years. It doesn't get much business, just enough to stay afloat. The original owners passed it down to their daughter, a Ms. Amaryllis Forest. I can't find much after that."

"Any connection to her?"

"None that can I find. I will keep searching though."

"Okay. Keep my updated."

"Will do."

I threw my phone down on the coffee table and ran my hand through my hair.

I stared down at the wilted flower laying on the table with only one thought on my mind.

"Who are you?"

(Amaryllis's POV)

"Thank you for coming, but you didn't have to." My mom said.

"I wanted to." I said as I continued fixing dinner.

Her and my father both sat at the table while I cooked.

"How is Percy?" My father asked.

"Good. Still his usual self."

"Any boyfriend we don't know about?"

"For Percy? I hope not cause that'd be weird and I don't have time for cat drama."

"I'm not talking about Percy. I'm talking about you." Mom said shaking her head.

I smiled. "No boyfriend for me."

"No guys coming around all the time? Going out of their way to see or talk to you?"

"Ollie from down the street, but he's not my type."

"Why not?"

"Have you met Ollie? He's hardly anyone's type." My father fired back.

"He's an....acquired taste." My mom said defending Ollie.

"Amen to that." I muttered.

"Really? Nothing at all? No one?"

"No, mom. I'm focusing on the shop right now."

"Leave her be. She'll find someone when it's right." My dad said.

"Thank you. Now change the subject or you can eat peanut butter sandwiches for dinner."

My mom rolled her eyes but changed the subject.

"You still going to the cemetery every Monday?"

"Yeah."

"Still taking flowers?"

"I am. I always take his favorite."

"Good."

"I don't think I can make it this Monday though."

"Why not?"

"I have a big order to do. I may go tomorrow instead."

"Okay. As long as you don't forget to go."

"I won't."

I finished up dinner and placed it on the table before sitting down beside my mom. We talked and enjoyed our food for about an hour. Afterwards, I stayed another hour and then headed home.

On my way home, I stopped by a convenience store for a few things. I was picking something to drink when I saw a man.

He caught my eye because he looked very much out of place. He was standing in the middle of the aisle wearing a suit staring at the chips. I appeared to me like he was trying to decided between the plain and the cheesy ones.

"If you can't decide then just pick both." I said, grabbing a drink.

The man turned towards me and my heart stuttered a little. He was very handsome. Belongs on the cover page of a magazine kind of handsome.

"Excuse me?" He said.

"If you can't decide which one to get then get both. That's what I do. That way you won't be disappointed if the first one you pick turns out to not be what you thought you wanted."

He nodded as he looked back at the chips. I smiled to myself as I watched him grab both bags. Before he turned back towards me, I went to the counter.

"Hey, Andy."

"Amaryllis. Good to see you."

"You too." I smiled, handing him a twenty dollar bill. "The man in the suit, use my change to pay for his."

"Sure thing." Andy smiled as I grabbed my things and left.

I stayed around out of sight long enough to see the man checkout. He seemed confused when Andy told him that it was covered, but then he looked outside to try and find me. I smiled and continued on my way to my apartment.

I got to my apartment where Percy was waiting until the door. I swear he's more of a dog than a cat.

"Percy, how was your day?"

He meowed.

"Me to. Shall we settle down on the couch for some Netflix?"

He meowed again.

"Good thinking. Pajamas first and then we settle down on the couch."

I curled up with a blanket on the couch and switched on the TV. Nothing was on as usual, so I channel surfed until I found something that wouldn't bore me to death.

I scrolled through my phone as the tv played and stopped when I came across a quote.

"Non Desistas Non Exieris."
(Never Give Up Never Surrender)

I eyed the stack of bills piling up and sighed. "That's what we must do, Percy. Non Desistas Non Exieris."
