(Amaryllis's POV)

Lincoln drove us to get the food and then drove us back to the shop. We agreed to eat at the shop which was technically my place. In the back of the shop is a little room that is technically a lunchroom, but that's not what I use it for.

"Thank you for letting me help earlier. I like learning new things. You are an excellent teacher." He said, opening all the containers.

"Really? You're the first person who has ever offered to help. Besides a guy from down the street, but I don't really count him."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't think he genuinely wants to help. I think he just wants an excuse to spend hours with me and get close to me."

He smirked. "How do you know that's not the only reason I asked to help?"

"That may have been your initial reason, but you actually enjoyed helping." I smiled, shoving a forkful of noodles in my mouth.

"Got me there."

"So tell me about you."

"About me?"

I nodded.

He leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms. I got slightly distracted by his biceps straining against the sleeves as he did so and had to refocus on his very fine face.

"I am twenty-four. My favorite color is green. My favorite food is anything Italian or Chinese. I have a lot of favorite movies and TV shows. My favorite season is fall. I enjoy going to the beach. I have two older brothers and a younger sister. I work in the....family business and I have five master degrees all pertaining to business; business management, marketing, finance, international business, and project management."

"Five master degrees? How are you twenty-three and have that many degrees?"

"Graduated high school early and took on three degrees at once."

"That all sounds like good things. Tell me something bad about you."

"Bad?"

"Yep."

"I don't like people."

I couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh how dare you not like people." I teased.

He grinned and shrugged. "I am very....cautious with who I trust and befriend. People who are my friends and whom I don't trust are.....an annoyance."

"Are we friends?"

"Of course. I don't buy just anyone dinner."

"Give me something else."

"Um.....I can't cook. Does that work?"

"I'll accept that as your bad quality."

"Fantastic. It's your turn now. Give me everything."

"I am twenty-two. My favorite color is blue, but sometimes purple. My favorite food is pizza....oh and nachos....and anything involving chicken. I really love all kinds of movies and my favorite TV shows are 911, 911 Lone Star, and Grey's Anatomy. I love spring and early fall. I also enjoy the beach. I am an only child and I too work in the family business. Also, I have an unfinished degree in botany."

"Why unfinished?"

"My mom got sick and I had to come back to help out with her and the shop."

"Do you want to finish it?"

"I'd love too. Maybe one day I will."

"So what's your bad thing? What's your flaw?"

"You can't tell anyone. My reputation as a florist would crash and burn."

"It's safe with me."

I took a deep breath. "I am allergic to flowers."

He stared at me for a solid minute before laughing.

"Seriously? You're allergic to flowers?"

"Yes. It's not a severe allergy and I take meds, so a majority of the time I'm all good. It can get bad in the spring and summer, but I'm good other than that. Also, there are some flowers that I am completely fine with and don't effect me at all while others are the complete worst."

"Is that why there's not a single sunflower here?"

"You noticed?"

He nodded. "I think it's my sisters favorite flower."

"Yeah. They really aggravate my allergies, so I just don't sell or handle them. My mom always did, but when I took over I booted them out."

He chuckled. "A florist allergic to flowers. Who would've thought."

"Nemo sine vitiis nascitur." I smiled.

"No one is born without faults." He said which surprised me.

"You speak Latin?"

"Took three years of it. How many years you take?"

"I picked up on it during school. Plants are sometimes referred to in their Latin names and such. Plus, I think it sounds pretty."

He was about to say something when his phone rang. He pulled it from his pocket, took one look at it, and put back in his pocket.

"Not important?"

"It's Vick."

"Oh."

"My....mother can't reach me so she is pestering him to death."

"Why can't she reach you?"

"I got a new phone and number, but didn't tell her."

"So you don't get along with her."

"Not in the slightest. She is.....an acquired taste."

I nodded and decided to change the subject. His tone of voice told me that he didn't like to discuss his mother.

"I saw Vick the other day."

"He told me. The sandwich was good by the way."

"It was for you?"

"One of them and the bagel. Both were very good."

I couldn't help but smile. "Good. I'm glad you liked it."

"So the coffee shop, huh?"

"Yeah. This place isn't doing as well as it used to, so the coffee shop job helps. Not much, but enough."

"Ever see any of the Rockwells?"

"Not sure. I find the news channel depressing so I rarely watch it, I'm more into magazine about flowers and gardening, and I don't go out much. I don't know what they look like or their names. I've always been one to....keep to myself. Want to hear some gossip though?"

He kind of smirked and nodded.

"There's this woman that comes in almost every day and sits for hours drinking coffee and water. She's always wearing very revealing clothes and talking on the phone. Apparently she's supposed to marry one of the Rockwells possibly, but whoever he is has not agreed and refuses to see her. It's driving her crazy. Says he'll change his mind if he sees her naked."

"Poor guy." He sighed.

"Right? I wish I could meet him and tell him to run. She dead set on marrying him. Says she'll do anything and won't hesitate to do something to anyone who gets between them."

"Hopefully he finds a way off he radar."

"Hopefully." I agreed.

He ended up staying until it was very dark outside. We spent hours talking, laughing, and just.....having a good time.

When he went to leave, he laid a wad of cash by the register. It was around $1,000.

"This is way to much."

"It's for the bouquet, the lessons, for your flower Monday, and.....for putting up with me for so long today."

"You're paying me for my time? Like a hooker?"

He laughed. "Consider it a gift then."

Before he was able to walk out and before I lost the courage, I quickly stood on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek.

"Thank you for.....today. It's been a while since I had a good time like this just talking and eating. Like I said, I don't get out much."

The smile he gave me was enough to almost make me weak in the knees. I gave him my best smile in return.

"We can make it a regular thing, if you want." He suggested.

"A regular thing?"

He nodded. "Your Saturdays after work and maybe even during work are now booked by me."

I stuck out my hand and smiled. "Deal."

He shook my hand and then left. I only stepped away from the door when he drove off.

After that?

After that I ran upstairs to tell Percy everything.
