"This is not a date." I spoke matter of factly as I sat across from Bryan. Though I told the girls I was headed to one, I definitely wasn't looking at it like that. I couldn't look at it like that, it was Bryan. But I also couldn't tell them I was going out with him either.

He smiled as he put his hands up, "clear on that."

I got comfortable as I placed my clutch on the table, "even though I'm not sure why you came if you really believe that." He continued causing me to quickly look up at him.

"Bryan."

He laughed, "Mink what are you so scared of? We grown as fuck, if we want to deal with each other we can."

"That's not the point," I picked up the water he had ordered for me before I arrived as I took a sip of it.

He chuckled as he looked me up and down, licking his lips. Fresh shape up on his head and goatee lined up at well. "Then what is Mink? Friendships into relationships are the best ones." He smiled.

I laughed. "We were barely friends Bryan. This sudden interest you have in me doesn't mean it'll be anything."

"Sudden interest we have in each other," he tried to correct.

I rolled my eyes as he laughed. "Mink be real, if you didn't have an interest in me as well you wouldn't be here."

"Speaking of, why are you here?" I questioned.

"You." I rolled my eyes again. He shook his head as a smile played on his face. "Keep rolling them eyes they going to fall out. Seriously, came to see the boys but you were the main reason. I was trying to take you out and you let me."

I cursed myself for not being able to stop the small smile that appeared on my face. The rest of the dinner we caught up and learned more about each other. Bryan definitely knew how to make me laugh and hold my interest.

He finished tipping and signing off on the check before looking up at me with a sinister smile, "what you bout to do?"

"Go home."

"Come with me."

I raised an eyebrow. "Come with you where?"

He scooted his chair back, "just come with me."

I shook my head no, "tell me where." I crossed my arms as I waited for his response.

He licked his lips as he smiled that pearly white smile. "Kira having a little get together -"

I cut him off before he could finish, "hell no. Me and her do not rock with each other and you saw it first hand."

He smacked his teeth as he waved it off, "that's because she thought you wanted her man, you rolling through with me plus Jodie asked me to come and he said to bring a date."

"Who has a get together on a Sunday?"

He laughed, "man Mink come with me, we won't be there long plus I still have an hour drive and then some to get back to my apartment. Trust we ain't going to be there long but I said I would slide through."

"And what if I wouldn't have came on this date with you, then who were you showing up with?"

He smiled, "Mink, you were coming. Let's go."

I rolled my eyes as I stood up, "I'm driving myself there."

He shrugged his shoulders, "that's fine."

As soon as we made it out I got in my car thinking about how I could just easily go home instead, but it would look shady as hell and Bryan and I just had a really good ass night. I screamed upset that I was really about to go to this shit. I sent Bryan a quick text before starting my car.

I'm not going to be in that bitch for more than 10 minutes.

He quickly responded as he sent laughing emoji's. Damn, alright Mink.

I began following him as I realized we were just headed to Jodie's. We quickly parked as we got out, part of me already knew this was about to be awkward as hell. Bryan quickly grabbed my hand as he looked down at me slightly with a smile on his face, "just chill."

I rolled my eyes as he laughed as we walked to the door, he knocked as the door quickly swung open with a girl I'd seen around campus before but didn't know, she smiled as she spoke. We spoke back as we walked in.

First person I spotted was Chris on the couch with some girl up under him all smiles. I shook my head as I noted that shit, making sure I got her name before the end of the night and the scoop on them from her somehow, some way.

"My man!" I turned taking my eyes off of Chris as Jodie now stood in front of us all smiles. He looked down at our intwined hands before looking between the two of us. Smile slowly dropping. "I didn't expect to see you here Mink."

I gave a fake, closed mouth smile. "Me either."

Bryan butted in, "you told me to bring a date, so I brought my date for the night." He brought my hand to his mouth as he kissed the back of it. Causing me to smile once again out of my control. "And I see why you said to," he began as he looked around. "Everybody in this bitch coupled up."

I looked around too, nodding as I agreed. Everyone really was with somebody. Jodie slightly chuckled as he looked me up and down, slowly nodding his head. I felt as if he thought I was his and it was clear that seeing me with someone else bothered him, yet he had a whole girl. He was a joke to me at this point.

I looked over seeing the girl that was booed up with Chris heading to the kitchen, I quickly excused myself as I made my way to her. She was making a drink so I started making one too. "Hey!" I started the conversation.

She looked over at me with a smile, "Hey."

"What's your name?" I questioned after I said hey I back. I started pouring some juice into a cup. I took her in, she was short, real short and brown skin with a short cut. Almost reminding me of a Nia Long in a sense, not at all what Chris seemed to typically like. She was cute though.

She smiled as she brought the cup to her mouth, "Jasmine. Yours?"

This was the girl that Kennedy was seeing pop up in his phone, and it was clearly more than a project they were doing together. "Mink."

She got wide eyed, throwing me off for a second. "What?" I quickly questioned.

She chuckled, shaking her head. "Nothing."

"Oh no, you did that for a reason."

She smiled, "Okay, we just met. But promise you won't say anything."

I raised an eyebrow as I slowly spoke, "o..k."

She laughed, "it's not bad. But I've heard Chris and Jodie talk about you, like," she lowered her voice. "I'm pretty sure Jodie might have a thing for you, and I know his girl doesn't like you but I can see why."

I brought my eyebrows in, "how do you know all of this? And what you mean you see why?"

"I'm here a lot, you're really pretty though, that's what I mean." She smiled.

I nodded my head, "thanks. You too." The conversation definitely threw me for a loop and it was clear that Chris was really rocking with her for her to be over that much and know that much. Kennedy's ass never spent the night it seemed.

"It's nice meeting you though. I hope to see more of you," she smiled.

I smiled as she walked away and Bryan walked towards me.  "You met Jas! I really like shawty, think she might be good for that nigga." He smiled before it quickly dropped. "Yo, he still fuck with Kennedy?"

I nodded my head as I put my cup down. "Damn," he said under his breath. I shook my head, "she needs to leave him alone though, I'm telling her." Part of me liked this Jasmine girl, but I felt like I was betraying Kennedy by doing so.

"You ready?" I questioned.

He laughed, "it's literally only been ten minutes."

"I think that's how long I said I would stay."

He smiled, "I haven't even saw Kira yet and it's her shit."

"Me either and I'm okay with that."

He rolled his eyes, "of course you are." He walked closer to me as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "Just give me ten more minutes," he said lowly. I looked up at him realizing that he was growing on me just that quickly. He smiled as his eyes went from my eyes to my lips.

"Okay," I said lowly. He backed up off me as his name was called causing us both to turn as Kira and another girl stood there, it was the other girl who called his name. I took her in, dark skin girl like me, with wavy hair, and a tight ass dress on as if she was going to a club instead of a kickback. She was all smiles and had eyes only for him.

Kira looked at me as a look of confusion crossed her  face, her keys still in her hands as if she had just came back from getting the girl. She walked towards me as she sat her keys down, crossing her arms. "What are you doing here?"

I rolled my eyes. "Trust, I don't want to be here any more than you don't want me here. I came with Bryan."

"For what?" She questioned.

"As his date, since this is a whole couples shindig or whatever. Ask him." I responded getting annoyed with her line of questioning already.

She laughed as she pointed at her friend, "Chrissy likes him."

That I could see. "Okay?" I wasn't her. I wasn't about to let a bitch I didn't know who had a crush on who I was dealing with have me acting crazy, plus we'd been on all of one date. Nothing was that deep.

Jodie walked in the kitchen grabbing Kira by her waist, "enjoy your night. Don't let irrelevant shit bother you."

I was slightly offended by the statement. She looked towards me before leaning up to kiss him before she walked away. I chuckled, ready to go.

Jodie came towards, "I didn't mean anything negative by that Mink, I just don't want no bullshit with the two of you tonight." I'm sure he could easily tell by my facial expressions that he fucking tried it.

I held my hands up as if to surrender. "I didn't say anything."

"Your face did." I didn't say anything as I stood there, I knew he was going to say more and he did. He leaned beside me as he crossed his arms. "So you and Bryan?"

"We aren't anything." I looked over at him as I saw the Chrissy girl still all smiles as she had a hand on his arm.

"Y'all went on a date?" He questioned.

I nodded as Jasmine walked in the kitchen raising her eyebrows up with a small smile playing on her face causing me to laugh as she did too. Jodie looked between the two of us with confusion, causing us to laugh even more.

"Bye Jasmine." I let out.

She smiled innocently, "I didn't even say anything." She walked out leaving just Jodie and I again. "How y'all know each other?" He questioned with concern etched on his face.

"We met tonight," I leaned up from the counter. "I'm ready to go, I'm leaving."

He looked at me for a second, "without your date?" He questioned as he looked towards Bryan who had just turned around to look at me. We caught eyes for a second before I quickly turned to look at Jodie. "Yes, we didn't ride together."

He studied me for a second as if he was questioning whether or not he wanted to say something. "Shawty like Bryan. But I don't think he feeling her like that, you know that nigga just nice."

I didn't say anything, but lowkey the statement definitely made me feel a little better regardless if I tried to act as if I wasn't bothered by the interaction. Bryan walked up just as the words left his mouth. "You good?" He questioned.

I nodded my head, "about to head out. You don't have to go, enjoy yourself. But this isn't my scene. Jodie walk me out?" I questioned.

"Whoa," Bryan called out as he grabbed my arm as I started walking. "Jodie?" He questioned. "I can't walk you out?"

"Baby girl is over there waiting for you, I don't want to pull you away."

He chuckled as he nodded his head. "I get it." He looked towards Jodie, "can I get a minute?"

Jodie looked at me for the okay as I gave him a look letting him know it was straight. Bryan looked at Jodie questioningly. "Y'all got some shit going?" He questioned as soon as Jodie was out of earshot. "The fuck?"

I rolled my eyes as I crossed my arms. "Do you and the girl who dressed for the club have some shit going on?"

He sighed getting back to the real topic, "no, it ain't nothing like that. I wouldn't have asked you to come if that was the case Mink. I'm interested in you, not her."

"Good, well I'm about to go regardless."

"Well I'm walking you out."

I started walking as he followed making sure I made it to my car safely. I opened my door getting in but he pulled me before I could fully get in as he brought my body to his. "You really was just going to try and dip without no love?"

I chuckled as I gave him a one sided hug, he pulled me in as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "Don't do that."

I laughed as he smiled. "You a character Mink."

"So they say," he studied my face. "I enjoyed tonight forreal, you're really more than just a pretty face."

"You just now realizing that?"

He laughed, "and you a fucking clown."

"We going to do this again?" He asked as his eyes went to my mouth.

I shrugged my shoulders as my body rested against his. "Maybe, maybe not."

He licked his lips as he smiled bringing his mouth closer to mine, I pulled back as I smiled. "I don't kiss on first dates, and technically this wasn't even a date."

He laughed as he brought his hand down his face. "Unpredictable. And you're unpredictable."

I smiled as I got in my car.  "Let me know when you make it home."

Hmm, Mink and Bryan? Or Mink and Jodie?

It'll throw things for a loop if she messes with Bryan seeing as how the two of them are friends. Do you think she's playing with fire when it comes to the two of them?
