You awoke to someone poking your face lightly. You lifted your head slightly,rubbing your eyes and seeing Pearl,sitting next to the couch where you were sleeping. "Oh,hey,Pearl," you yawned tiredly, "was there something you needed?" You asked. She herself looked tired,like she just couldn't get something off her mind. She hesitated but nodded, "uhm..Tanzanite..I-I was wondering if you'd be interested in forming Kunzite..?I-I really need to be fused with you right now so I can clear my mind.." she asked,a sad,exhausted look in her eyes. She was like a tired puppy in the rain. You weren't sure what was going on but sat up and nodded. "Yeah,sure" "r-really?th-thank you!!" She hugged you,thankful you said yes.

She took you by the hand as you stood up and danced with you,forming Kunzite. Kunzite happily giggled. "Kunzite is back!" She cheered. Excitedly,she ran outside,letting the wind blow through her hair as she walked the streets. The gem spent much of her night stargazing and just overall having fun. She never wanted this night to end. Soon,she stopped near a bench and unfused,now just Tanzanite and Pearl again. The two sat next to each other on the bench,satisfied with the fun they had.

"Hey,Tanzanite?" "Yeah?" "...thank you. I really needed that" She sighed,softly smiling. "Yeah,no problem. Anything for a friend" you smiled back before standing up and stretching. "We should get—home?" You felt Pearl grab your hand and turned to look towards her,a little caught off guard by the action as your cheeks heated up to a deep,bright,purple blush. "Hey,Tanzanite,I.." "yeah?" "I want us to stay as Kunzite.." "oh,you mean like for the rest of the night?" "No,I mean forever..". You gave her a slight confused look. "Pearl,I-I love forming Kunzite with you,but..I-I don't think I could do that.." "Tanzanite,please!!I-I need this..!!I-I need us..!!" "Pearl!!i-i'm sorry,but I just can't do that—!!"

The taller gem grabbed your hand,and,before you knew it you were Kunzite again. Until you guys unfused again. "Pe-Pearl,stop it!!I-I don't want thi—" "stop!!Why can't I just be with you,Rose?!" She snapped,tears in her eyes. You looked at her in shock,no words to say. You went to say something but no words came out. All that came out was a cry you were forcing back. "..i-i'm sorry..I-I shouldn't ha-have called you that.." she apologized,gripping the back of her neck. You placed a hand on her hand. "Pearl—" "just..go home. I'll be home soon,I just..need some time alone..".

You grabbed her hand, "Pearl," you begged, "please,you have to talk to me. I can't stand watching you hurt like this and doing nothing about it..please.." "Ros— I-I mean,Tanzanite,i'm fine!" She reassured,forcing herself to smile despite the tears and bags evident in her eyes. "Ugh,d-don't lie to me like that!!you don't have to lie just so I won't be upset!!I just..I just want to be there for you.." you begged,your throat ever so tight as you forced yourself to swallow back tears. Seeing Pearl like this made you want to cry,but you had to be strong for her. "Just..just go home.." "Pearl..please,don't push me away..just let me be there for you.." she didn't respond. You sighed and made your way back home.

That night,you didn't get any sleep. You stayed up worrying about Pearl,hoping that she was okay,feeling awful about what happened. "Um..Tanzanite?" A voice asked. You looked over and saw Steven. "Oh,h-hey Steven. Did you need something?" "Well.." he started, "why do you look so upset?" He asked. "Oh,I,um.." you tried to answer,fumbling with your fingers before taking a deep sigh in stress and guilt. "I-it's just..i-i'm worried about Pearl..she asked me to form Kunzite with her forever and when I said I didn't want to,she just..she just freaked out and called me Rose.. "she called you by my mom's name..?" You looked at him in shock. "I-i'm sorry.. m-'mom'?" You asked. "Yeah!Rose Quartz was my mom.." "I-I don't believe it..Rose had a child and I never even knew it..but..how?" You asked,pure confusion in your voice. "Well..she had to give up her physical form to have me. That's why I have her gem,see?"

He lifted his shirt,showing the gem. Rose Quartz's gem. You stared in shock, "oh,I-I see. Y-you have her gem..so,then,y-you are her..?" You asked,tilting your head. "What?no!She's gone,i'm Steven,not Rose Quartz—" "Why,Rose..?why didn't you tell me..?I thought I-I could trust you..!" "Tanzanite,didn't mom tell you she was gonna have a child?" "N-no,I..I-I just came back to t-the group one day and saw she was missing..Pearl told me Pink was shattered,but never said a word about a child..I-I would never imagine that..o-oh my g-god.." you felt your eyes begin to build up with tears as you pulled your hair,smiling before clenching your teeth and curling up into a ball. "T-Tanzanite..?" "S-so you lied to me.." you mumbled,your voice shaky. "me?" He asked. "What else..what else did you lie to me about,Rose..?" You asked,looking up at him. "T-Tanzanite,i'm not—" "w-was everything you've told me a lie?a-and you tried to lie about having a child,but I-I should've known that's not possible..you and this child just fused.." you claimed,now facing him as you looked him in the eyes,tears flowing down your face. "Tanzanite,p—" "is that all I was to you?!j-just a gullible,stupid gem to lie to?!" You asked,your voice now cracking with hurt as you gripped your head on both sides. "Tanzanite!!i'm not my mom!!" He shouted. "Why,Rose..?w-why..?" You asked,wrapping your arms around your knees as you silently sobbed into them. Steven placed a hand on your shoulder,sighing deeply. "Tanzanite..I know it hurts..I know she hurt you..but,i-i'm not my mom..I can't answer your questions for her.." "..she told me she would be there for me,treat me better than the Diamonds had.." "you just wanted to see her happy..you trusted her,and she lied to you..she left you behind and never told you things like how she was gonna give up her form to have me.."

You nodded,wiping tears from your eyes with your palm. "I just don't understand.." you went on,your voice soft and quiet. "Tanzanite,I know it hurts,but..you can't let it get to you..you need to move past it and let go.." you started crying again. "Hey,p-please don't cry. Uhm,try to think of something that makes you happy!how about Lapis?" "Lapis..I-I miss her..I-I wish I could've said goodbye before she left..now i'll never see her again.." you spoke,your body shaking. "I-I wish I would've realized how I felt about her before she left..i-i-i'm never going to see her again.." "hey,don't say that. I'm sure she'll come back soon..!and then,when she does,you can tell her!" He tried to cheer you up,giving a comforting smile. "A-and then what..?what happens if I tell her and she doesn't like me back..?what if she doesn't want to talk to me anymore..?" "Then,you stay strong. You remind yourself that there's someone out there who will love you and you smile through all the pain,because you're a strong,confident gem". You smiled and hugged him. "Thanks,Steven..I-I really needed that..you sounded just like your mother when you said it,too..so caring..full of passion.." he smiled. "I'm glad I could help. Night" he waved,climbing back up the stairs into his bed as you went back to sleep,too,feeling,well..much better than before.
