the paper airplane
flies through the wind
and the adults
see it as just that—
a folder piece of paper—
but not this kid.
he sees something bigger.
something magnificent in his eyes.
he sees that paper
as the airplane
he dreams of creating.
his parents
call him a dreamer.
"put your energy
into something useful,"
they say.
"focus on your studies,
they'll actually take you somewhere,"
they say.
but his sister—
oh, his darling sister,
tells him stories
of the wright brothers
and caproni.
"don't listen to those
fearful adults,"
she says.
"they'll tell you
to focus on better things,
more productive things,
but never, ever, let them
tell you to give up,"
she says.
"one day,
you'll be come the greatest
airplane designer
in the world,
and they'll be
eating their words
from that day on."
