i twirl in the snow
as snowflakes fall
and the wind blows through my hair

i close my eyes
and feel the sun,
even though the warmth
doesn't help much

"isn't life wonderful?"
i ask my friend
as he stares bewilderingly
at the tears falling down
my cheeks

"um...sure,"
he says, unsure
"i guess."

i smile and turn away,
continuing our hike
through the woods

life is wonderful, indeed
