It had been 6 months since Kira won against L. Six months of the pain of losing your boss you had known for years. You think of this as you walk into the cemetery late at night, a blank expression on your face and a box of candies in your hand. You knew the path to his grave by heart now, and you always, always brought some sort of treats for him.

Though his death did hurt you deeply, and you made sure to visit at least once per week, You were never romantically involved, despite what many people thought. You just...loved each other, but not as a couple, for lack of a better description.

You sigh as your thoughts trail off, and you look down at the white headstone as your heart begins to ache slightly.

"Hi L...I brought you some more candy. I finally found the ones you like."

You sigh as you sit down on the cold ground before the icy stone, staying silent for awhile before you sigh.

"I miss you."

You finally say before you sniff, quickly wiping up your tears.

"S-sorry..."

You smile, lightly kissing the box of confections before putting them down. You then pull out a small book from your bag, leaning up against the headstone as you sigh. You enjoyed reading here, especially since it felt like you had company. Taking a deep breath, you open the book and begin to read. You were reading a small romance novel at the time, and figured L might enjoy listening as well, even though in life he definetly wasnt one for sappy stories. You were just at the point where the wedding was taking place, and you continue moving through the words, setting into a more relaxed mood. It almost felt as if someone was with you.

"And as the room silenced and the bride and groom took their places in front of each other, the vows began."

You smoothly say, settling in a little more.

"He took a deep breath, and took his fiancée's hand, beginning his piece.

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup shall never be empty, for I shall be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness...And with this ring, I ask you to be mine."

You sigh, pausing for just a moment. You suddenly felt... uneasy.

Looking around, you notice the trees had grown darker and almost elongated, and the wind had picked up. Getting a bit frightened, you stand and close the book, tracing your eyes back to the headstone as a strange feeling grows in the pit of your stomach.

"I-I should go home..."

You say, opening your bag to put it back.

But your ankle was grabbed.

Letting out a shriek, you immediately fall to the ground and try to kick off, dropping your book in the process. Finally you get released, and you scramble backwards as your eyes widen, not taking a second before you pop to your feet and run the other way. After a little while, you slow down and take a look back, seeing that a man in a suit was following you in almost a ghost like manor. Feeling tears forming from panic and fear, you keep going, almost tripping numerous times along the way. Eventually, you find yourself on a small bridge, panting and sweating in the bitterly cold evening. Frantic, you shoot your gaze every which way before you calm down a bit, seeing nothing in the otherwise normal evening in the silent cemetary.

"M-must've...just been my imagination..."

You sigh, easing up a little. When you turn around, you find yourself almost nose to nose with the same suited figure, making your heart almost stop.

"I do."

He whispers as he draws a little closer, right before you pass out.

"(y/n)...?"

You hear after a long time of darkness, causing you to furrow your eyebrows slightly.

"(y/n) dear. Are you alright?"

"You must've scared the poor thing to death, really."

You hear another voice say, before you hear a bit of shifting.

"Well, would that really matter here?"

The original voice says, sounding a bit snarky.

"It absolutely would. She's supposed to be alive. You just had to drag her down here didn't you?"

"Well, she's the one who married me."

They say, and you feel a cold hand brush your hair to the side, cupping your cheek.

Wait a second.

That voice.

Shooting up, you pop your eyes open and take in your surroundings. You were in some kind of room, sitting on a worn elegant red sofa. And you just were in someone's lap.

Taking a look over, your heart almost stopped.

"Are you alright (y/n)? I'm glad you're awake."

He says, and you're speechless in response. It was him. L. And next to both of you, was Light standing not too far away.

"I-I...wh-..."

You stammer, and his expression slightly softens.

"I understand that this might be overwhelming darling. Just try and stay calm alright?"

"I-I-aren't you...where am....wait, darling?"

you manage to stammer, and he seems confused.

"(y/n), we're married, remember?"

He says, making you even more confused and overwhelmed.

"W-wait, what?! MARRIED?!"

"Heh, great way to start off a marriage."

"You are NOT helping, Kira."

He snarls at Light as you begin getting dizzy again.

"B-but you're DEAD, aren't you?!"

You snap, making him jump back only slightly.

"Yes...that...(y/n), I...I am, but-"

"Aaugh, I'm so confused..."

You mumble, feeling tears spring to your eyes.

"I mean...W-Where even am I? What's going on?"

You ask as you begin to cry, and you see the panic in his face immediately.

"Nonono (y/n) please don't cry! Here, I'll show you where we are, okay? I promise you'll love it."

He says, obviously trying to make you feel better. You nod as he gently takes your hand in his unnaturally cold one, and he pulls you softly to your feet before taking you over to a small balcony.

"See?"

He says, guiding you from behind. You then wipe your eyes and look upward, immediately letting out a soft gasp. It was an entire city below you. The sky was a shade of soft pinkish blue, and you were overlooking a expansive 1800's esque city below.

"The view is amazing from up here isn't it?"

He asks, and you remain speechless.

"Wh...Where are we..?"

You ask, and he shrugs.

"Not really sure...But we arent exactly on earth I don't think. Its...The afterlife, I suppose."

He says, and you pause as you take a small deep breath.

"L, I can't stay."

You say, pushing away from him gently.

"W-why not?"

He asks, and you shift.

"Because I'm...well, I'm alive and you arent. There's no way this can work. I don't belong here."

You say, and he looks slightly hurt by your words while you see Light walk over, leaning against the wall not too far away while he silently watches you and L.

"Well you should have thought of that before you married me."

He says, leaning over the balcony as he sighs.

"You said vows...I thought you wanted this.."

He mumbles, looking away.

"L, you brought me down here against my will. I mean, you could have asked at least, instead of giving me a heart attack."

You snap, making him look down as he clutches his chest. You slap your hand over your mouth not a second later, and you approach him quickly. You must've touched a nerve with the words 'heart attack'.

"Oh my god L I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-"

"Heh. Great turnout. When's the honeymoon?"

Light interrupts, making L tense.

"Get OUT of here Kira!"

He yells back, making you laugh just a little.

"Well....I see your relationship hasn't changed too much."

You smile, and he seems happy that he saw a sliver of happiness coming from you.

"B-but, I'm so sorry again. I was just...i just-"

You mumble, and he brushes your hair to the side.

"It's no trouble my darling. You didn't mean to. I know this is sudden, and you have every right to be a little surprised."

He says, and you look out to the city before sighing.

"Well....Do you want to maybe show me around then...? Since I'm here and everything...I guess."

You ask, and he lights up slightly.

"I'd love to."

He smiles, and Light sighs before drawing his gaze to you.

"One tour around. Then you have to get her back home."

He says, and L frowns before bringing you past him and outside, not answering. Obviously he wasnt planning on letting you go too soon.

When you were walking together in the pretty town, one thing you did notice is that you were being stared at extensively by the...people. It was a given, really. It must be like seeing a dead person walking around in the normal world. But it was very pretty. There were many people here, all dressed from 1800's clothing to modern day. The streets looked like something from old London, and L looks over while he holds your hand with his cold one.

"It is rather pretty."

You admit, and you walk through some main streets before L speaks.

"Yes. But it gets lonely and quite boring. I'm glad you're here now."

He says, and you manage to smile before you feel your stomach growl, and you tap L's shoulder lightly before he turns toward you.

"There doesn't happen to be anywhere to get food is there...?"

You ask sheepishly as you stop at a large square with a huge angel statue fountain in the centre, and he smacks his forehead before letting his hand slip down to his mouth.

"Right...I completely forgot about that... you're alive and need to eat."

He says, sounding a little embarrassed that he forgot something so important.

"W-well, we have these."

He smiles, taking the candies you dropped off earlier out from inside his jacket.

"O-oh. Hehe, I thought of you when I saw those."

"I have to thank you (y/n), sweetheart. Without you, I probably would've gone crazy out of sugar deprivation."

He jokes while he leads you over to the edge of the fountain, and you let out a small laugh.

"I'm glad you like them."

You smile, and he sighs as he opens them up gingerly.

"You know...I feel as if I lost such a huge chance when I...left. I admit, I didn't particularly have romantic feelings towards you before, but when you started visiting so often and making sure to bring sweets and stay for hours on end reading to me...I had so much time to think and...I fell so deeply in love with you (y/n), and wanted you to be mine. And when you read those vows...I...Did the unthinkable."

He says, sounding just a bit guilty.

"I suppose....I did it because nobody had ever cared for me the way you did...And...I had never been in love, nor had someone love me."

He says in a somber tone, keeping his gaze forward.

"But..here, have one. They're good."

He smiles as he lifts the box towards you, and you gingerly take one out and push it through your lips.

"You know...That's ok. I missed you too L. If I knew, then I definitely would have chosen to come visit here myself."

You say, and you notice him get a little flustered, even though no colour came to his cheeks.

"R-really?"

He asks, and you nod while you smile.

"Really."

You say as you inch closer, bringing him in for a hug. He seems incredibly surprised for just a second, but he quickly accepts and wraps his arms around you as well.

"(y/n)?"

"Mm?"

"...It's Lawliet."

He mumbles as he squeezes you in.

"What?"

"My name. Keeping it a secret doesn't matter anymore I suppose."

He jokes, making you laugh just a little.

"No, I suppose not."

You giggle, making him smile lightly. Things are silent for a little bit until he draws you closer, putting his head into your hair.

"You're...warm."

He mutters as he nuzzles you slightly. You then stay there hugging for a little while, before he backs up slightly, looking into your eyes with his.

"I...I love you (y/n)."

He says, and you slowly slip away as you look down, your smile fading.

"...(y/n)?"

He almost whispers, and you continue looking toward the ground. You couldn't say you felt the same.

"L...I-It's sweet of you...And I'm glad I'm able to visit, but...I don't feel the same. Maybe if we were both alive, but....I just can't see this ever working."

You say, feeling bad as you kick at the ground below you. He's completely silent as a response, and you see his shoulders sink.

"You don't?"

He asks, and you stand.

"L...I've tried to say this...You're not alive anymore."

"So?"

He snaps, and you jump back slightly.

"You know what? Just forget it, I'll talk to you later."

He says, standing as he looks away. You could hear the sadness in his tone, and he puts his hands in his pockets before he walks off, leaving you in the town square in a world you didnt belong in.
