A/N: OKAY IM SORRY FOR THE LAST CHAPTER HERES ONE TO MAKE UP FOR IT

Anyway, recovery chapter where the engagement doesn't end up with you killed

"(y/n) dear, why don't you take a break for a little while?"

L says, lightly rubbing your shoulders as you keep tapping away on your computer.

"That's certainly out of character for you to say mister workaholic."

You laugh, not glancing up from the screen. he then sighs as he brings his lips to the nape of your neck, almost giving you whiplash from pulling you out of focus so quickly.

"I want to show you something my love."

He says as he kisses the tip of your ear, making your cheeks burn.

"So can you take a break for me...?"

He asks in almost a whisper, starting to take the bobby pins out of your hair you had up. You take a few seconds to answer, and soon feel your hair being taken down, as well as some long fingers interlacing into it.

"Hmm, alright, what do you want to show me?"

You ask, standing up and putting yourself in his arms momentarily while plants a soft kiss on your cheek.

"Come with me."

He mutters as he joins your hands, soon after taking you upstairs and to the roof of the building. Once there, you notice that the sky was in the midst of the most gorgeous sunset you've ever seen, and he smiles as he leads you to the railing of the extremely tall skyscraper, squeezing your hand in his.

"A sunset? How sentimental."

You tease while he embraces you from behind and rests his head on the top of yours, and his hands on your hips.

"Not just an ordinary sunset."

He says in a mellow tone, making you pull your eyebrows together.

"What do you mean?"

You ask, and you feel his heartbeat quicken behind you. He then clears his throat as he spins you around towards him, and he takes a deep breath before he kisses your cheek again, looking at you with two panda eyes.

"(y/n)... I love you."

He stammers, and you smile as you take his hands in yours.

"I love you too."

You answer, and he smiles only slightly before taking another deep breath, looking away from your direct gaze.

"...(y/n), I....I love you More than anything in this world. And it took quite a bit of thought, but... I want you to be mine and only mine for the rest of our lives."

He says as he slides his hand up your arm, causing you to look up towards him, feeling butterflies exploding in your heart.

"And just so you know, I'm 100% serious about this..."

He continues, looking upward before he fishes around in his back pocket, and soon pulls something out and lifts it towards you.

"So, (y/n) (l/n)... Will you marry me?"

((DONT WORRY YOU DONT DIE THIS TIME))

He finally says as he pops a small box open, revealing a rather simple but extremely elegant and beautiful diamond ring. You let out a gasp as you look up towards him, and he smiles back, revealing the small dimple that only showed when he was truly happy and smiling with nothing but joy.

"Well?"

He asks, now with a serious and slightly worried tone. He was still smiling, but you could tell on the inside he was a complete and utter nervous wreck.

"Yes! One hundred million times yes!"

You answer, now with tears of pure joy rushing down your cheeks. You feel his arms slightly tighten around you, and he quickly takes the ring out of the box and slips it on your finger with ease, sighing a breath of relief when he found it to fit absolutely perfectly.

"Well then, you're my fiancée n-"

He hums, and you don't even let him finish before you smash your lips together, letting the entire world turn to nothing around you. After you finished your spouse-to-be kiss, he smiles again as he touches your foreheads together.

"I was just about to say...I hope you like it. The ring, I mean.."

He sheepishly says, and You let out a giggle in response and you wrap your arms around his shoulders, and you look to the side as you stand on your tiptoes just to rest your elbows in the right spot.

"Of course I do. You could tie a string of butchers twine around my finger and I'd still love it."

You beam, and he sighs as he smiles.

"That's good. I was honestly fearing that you wouldn't think I was serious when I showed it to you."

He lets out an extremely small laugh as he finishes his sentence, and he looks back towards you, giving you a small peck on your lips before you speak again.

"Aww, poor baby."

You hum as you give him small kisses in between your words.

"I'm just glad you said yes. Watari helped me pick it out though."

He smiles, softly parting some stray hairs away from your eyes.

"I must be the luckiest man on earth..."

He mutters as he holds your hand in his, kissing your cheeks gently as he moves in a bit closer.

"I love you Lawliet."

You say as you cuddle into him, and he squeezes back.

"You know, even though we've been together for years, and we just got engaged, I still get butterflies whenever you say that."

He whispers, sweetly kissing your nose. You then enjoy the sunset in loving silence, until the blazing orange and pink turns into a gorgeous blue and purple, and the sun dips below the horizon.

Not long after, the warmth of the day begins to slip off your skin, and you look up to your lovely husband to be before snuggling into him further.

"It gets cold so fast..."

You say, and he quickly looks down and begins rubbing your arm lightly.

"Are you cold sweetheart?"

He asks, and you nod.

"Then let's go inside."

He mumbles as he kisses your cheek, taking your hand gently in his.

"I have another gift for you by the way."

He mutters, pecking your lips once more before he pulls you into the heated building,

"What is it?"

You innocently ask, and he smiles before scooping you up into his arms princess style, making you squeal out of surprise.

"You'll have to wait and see."

He hums as he continues over to your separate apartment on the top floor, opening the door and gently ushering you in after putting you back down, internally sighing with relief. Doesn't matter how small you are - humans are heavy. After seeing what the apartment looked like, you Immediately you gasp and place your hand over your mouth.

"Lawliet... this is..."

You begin, but fall speechless. The lights were dimmed down, and there was candles everywhere. There was a massive bouquet of roses waiting for you on the dining room table, and you walk up to it as you quickly tear up.

"If you'd have said no this would have definitely been awkward..."

He mutters, and you let out a small laugh as you kiss his cheek.

"It's beautiful. And you know I would never say no."

You say, and he kisses your lips very gently before pulling away again.

"There's more. Follow me."

He says, placing the elegant flowers in your arms before taking your hand. He then takes you over to your room, and you immediately gasp to see a set of sexy red lacies were laid out on the bed, making you gasp.

"That's certainly bold of you."

You joke, smacking his chest playfully.

"Maybe, but there was over a 92.6% chance this would work."

He almost flirts, making you laugh.

"Well, like always...You were right. Want me to show you what it looks like on?"

You playfully answer, letting out a small giggle.

"Of course. But I can't promise I won't be getting it off you again soon enough."

He flirts back, and you steal away into the washroom to change, not able to wait.

The rest of the evening was...pretty self explanatory. you just got engaged to the love of your life, he set up the apartment very romantically, as well as getting you roses and expensive lingerie. Some stuff went down that night. 'Nuff said.

The next morning, you wake to see L sound asleep next to you, holding you tightly in his arms.

"Lawliet, wake up~"

You say softly as you kiss his nose, and he makes a small noise of dissatisfaction as he holds you closer.

"No. 'S not morning yet."

He says, making your eyes widen.

Sleepy L.

"I'm afraid so my love...You have work today, don't you?"

You ask playfully, and he lets out a tired sigh.

"Five more minutes."

He mumbles, eyes still closed. After a little while, you push your lips up onto his, making his eyes half open before he kisses you back without even thinking, obviously getting more awake. Once you pull off, he outstretches his arms and opens his eyes about three quarters of the way.

"More please."

He asks, and you shake your head.

"Not until you get up."

You laugh, and he groans before sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

"Fine....I'm awake."

He mumbles, and you give him a quick kiss before shifting out of the covers yourself.

"Good job."

You tease, and he goes ahead and gets ready for work at an incredibly slow pace. After a little while, he gave you a sweet little kiss, telling you when he'd be home. He then reluctantly leaves after he spent more than just a little time with you at the door, and you sigh as you look to the now empty apartment.

Not knowing what to do for your day, You had arranged to meet with your old friend at a small local coffee shop and tell her the news of your engagement.

Once you made the plans and got there, you impatiently waited, keeping your gloves on while you sat at the small table in the back corner. You couldn't wait to see her reaction. After maybe five minutes more of waiting, you see her enter the shop, dressed in a blue button down coat and a beige scarf. She looks around for a moment as she takes off her black gloves, and you stand up and wave, catching her attention.

"(y/n)! It's been so long! How are you?"

She quickly says as she skips over, her short curls bouncing gracefully above her shoulders.

"I'm...good."

You say, using every fibre of your being not to blurt out your news that second. She then sits across from you, and she raises an eyebrow.

"Something's up (y/n)~ You're painfully obvious you know."

She smirks, and you tense.

"W-well, I have some very special news to tell you concerning Riyuzaki and I..."

You say, and she gasps as she covers her mouth, soon after beholding a huge smile.

"Wait, (y/n)...y-you're not...Pregnant, are you?"

She says slowly, wide eyed.

"N-no, I-"

"Am I going to get to babysit a mini Riyuzaki?!"

She asks, now bouncing up and down out of excitement.

"No."

"W-what?"

"Because I'm not pregnant, you maniac."

You say, letting out a light laugh.

"But, I still have something exciting to tell you."

"What is it?"

She asks, obviously excited for whatever news you had.

"Well, yesterday L-...Ryuzaki, I mean, took me up onto the roof of the task force building and..."

You then take off your gloves and hold your hand up towards her, flashing your diamond ring. She looks at it in complete shock before she quickly grabs your hand and brings it up super close to her face.

"IS THIS WHAT I THINK IT IS???"

She basically yells as she looks up towards you. You respond by nodding, and she almost screams, causing you to jump.

"I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU (Y/N)!!"

She yells as she crushes your body with a tight hug, catching the attention of a few people in the café before she lets go again.

"We need to start planning ASAP. What kind of wedding do you think you want?"

She asks as she sits down with you again, and you tense before you look down.

"O-oh, wedding? I'm not sure if either of us are the type. I don't know....We might just sign the papers and be done with it."

You say as you scratch the back of your head.

"Wha-that's so boring! (y/n) it's one of the hugest days of your entire life. Don't you want to have a princess wedding?"

"I um... I'll talk to him about it."

You mumble, making her beam.

"Good."

She smiles, looking back down to your ring. After a lovely little afternoon of chatting away about what yours and your fiancé's future would be like, it got slightly dark out, and you decided to get going back home.

"Well,  Riyuzaki is probably wondering where I am. It was good talking to you."

You smile, getting up and putting your coat back on.

"Yes, good luck (y/n). I hope you and him are incredibly happy together."

She says, and you nod.

"We will be."

You say, right before parting ways. You then pull your cellphone out, speed dialling your soon to be husband.

"(y/n)?"

You hear a deep and mellow voice say, pulling you out of thought.

"Mhm?"

You hum, walking out of the shop and into the cool autumn night.

"I was getting worried about you sweetheart. It's late, where are you?"

He asks calmly, and you take a moment before answering.

"I was at the coffee shop across town. I'll be home soon, I'll take the subway."

you say, and you feel his tension across the line.

"Honey....Let me come get you. I don't want you taking the subway at night, it's dangerous.."

He says, and your expression softens before you answer.

"I'll be ok."

You say gently, and he takes a small moment before he sighs.

"I know, I trust you completely love. But...I don't want to take the chance. Wait for me at the library nearby, ok?"

"I...ok.."

You eventually sigh.

"I'll be there as soon as I can. I love you."

"Love you too."

You say, then hang up. You then wait for maybe 15 minuets at the public library he said to meet at, eventually seeing the recognizable black car pull up outside.

Immediately rushing over to it to get out of the cold, you see your fiancé open the door and then his arms to you, and you almost tackle him in a response.

"Come on, into the car. It's cold outside."

He says, and you follow him into the warm interior. It then sets into motion, and you shift a bit before looking up to L.

"So...my friend said she wanted us to have a wedding. What do you think?"

He spends a second in thought as his arms slightly loosen, and he looks down towards you as he smiles softly.

"Well, when you get married, there usually is a wedding involved."

He hums, kissing your cheeks.

"S-so that means that you want one?"

"Only if you do my love."

He mutters, letting your lips meet. You softly kiss back and pull off a few moments later, lightly giggling.

"No fair, that puts all the pressure on me."

You giggle, and he sighs as he parts your hair to the side, touching your foreheads together as he joins both of your hands.

"Wedding or not though, you will make me the happiest man on earth when you become my wife."

He mutters, pulling your lips to his.

"I really do love you more than anything on this earth, (y/n)."

He then mumbles as he runs his hand down your cheek, gently brushing some hair away from your eyes.

"Stop being so adorable."

You mumble, letting him smother you in hugs and kisses.

"And stop trying to change the subject."

You laugh, and you feel his lips curl into a small smile against your skin.

"We can decide later..."

He says, beginning to kiss your neck again.
