This oneshot focus' around anxiety. And of course everyone gets it differently so this one isn't too extreme. But just wanted to say that since I'm not sure if it's a trigger. Anyways enjoy (I think)

John's POV:

I held her in my arms tight, sad that I had to leave her again.

We were stood outside of the airport where Y/n had just dropped me off. I was traveling to L.A for two weeks to visit some friends. I offered her to go with me but she had plans with her family which I totally understood.

"I love you," I mumbled in her hair, holding her a little tighter.

"I love you too," she said into my chest. She picked her head up placing her lips on mine. "Have fun in L.A." she said once we pulled away.

I smiled down at her "Have fun with your family," I told her. We both reluctantly let go of the hug and stared at each other.

"If I don't do this, neither of us will," she stood on her toes and placed one final kiss on my lips "Call me when you land" She turned around quickly and headed to her car.

"Love you!" I called out to her, going over to the entrance of the airport. She blew me a kiss then got in her car. With a cute wave, she drove off. I sighed then turned around into the airport.

I checked myself and my bag in, went through security then headed over to find my gate. This process taking almost an hour. Once I found the gate, I sat down in an empty chair. Then started feeling the all too familiar feeling.

Anxiety.

I've flown across country multiple times and it's been a long while since I've felt anxious going on a plane. I tried to ignore it and put on my headphones and began to play music.

After a few songs I went to go skip a song and when I looked down I noticed my hands were visibly shaking. Seeing myself shake like that made me feel some type of panic, as I didn't know how to stop it. I tried to think of all the tips and tricks that I knew but my mind went blank.

I picked up my phone and clicked on Y/n's contact, knowing that talking to her was always a good distraction.

The phone rang a few times before I remembered that she went to her cousins house right after she dropped me off. I went to go hang up until I heard kids laughter on the phone.

"Stop!" I heard Y/n say laughing. Her laugh and voice was music to my ears. Forgetting about my nerves for a moment. I heard shuffling on the other end and the sound of laughter died down.

"Hey, Babe" Y/n finally said.

"Hey," I smiled. "I'm just sitting here in the lounge," I told her looking around at all the people in the airport causing my nerves to shoot up again.

"Oh good," she said sounding a bit confused. "John, are you okay?" She asked.

I put my head down and closed my eyes. "Babe..." I started then took a deep breath, "just talk to me, please" I said softly.

"About what, baby?" She asked sadly.

"Anything, please" I sighed, "I just want to hear your voice" I ran a hand over my face.

Without missing a beat, she started rambling on, talking about her trip over to her cousins house, then switching to telling stories about her childhood, then leaving me on call while she played and talked with her younger cousins.

I felt my nerves melting away the more she spoke, her voice was always something that calmed me down.

I heard my flight number being called and saw the people around me getting up to board the flight.

"My flights been called, babe" I said into the phone.

"Have fun, babe! I love you," I imagined the smile on her face when she said that.

"I love you too, thank you" I said to her getting up and getting in line to get my ticket scanned.

"Anytime. Now go board your flight, let me know when you land please" She told me.

"I will bye bye," I was about to end the call before I heard her say something.

"Wait. Say bye for me" She said assumably talking to her cousins.

"Bye!" I heard the two little kids that have her whole heart say into the phone.

"Bye" I said back to them.

"Bye, Babe. Love you," She said chuckling a bit.

"Love you too," I smiled and hung up. I looked up and saw that I was next in line. The man scanned my ticket and I then boarded the plane. I put my bag under the seat then got comfortable.

I then realized that my nerves were completely gone. I smiled and looked at my lock screen, it was a picture of me and Y/n kissing under the fireworks on Fourth of July.

What would I do without her.

~two weeks later~

I finally exit my gate and see Y/n. She was wearing one of my hoodies with a pair of leggings, her arms were across her chest and she had a sleepy smile on her face as my flight landed a little later than we expected.

I quickly walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her and picking her up slightly, spinning us around also.

I placed her down then put my hands on either side of her face pulling her in for a passionate kiss. "I've been waiting to do that since I left." I whispered against her lips. She giggled as I let go of her face.

"I wish I had your energy right now but I'm just," she got cut off by a yawn. "But just know that I missed you, like a lot." I smiled then gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

We made it out of the airport hand in hand and reached her car, almost getting lost in the process.

I placed my bag and suitcase in the back seat then she handed me her keys with a smile. I playfully rolled my eyes then opened the door for her to get into the passenger side.

I hopped into the drivers side and drove us out of the airport.

After a while in the road in comfortable silence, I quickly looked over to see if she was still awake and saw that she was already looking at me lovingly. I looked back at the road and laughed lightly.

"You're really hot when you drive," she said making me laugh a little harder. I reached over for her hand that was in her lap and laced our fingers together.

I then cleared my throat and began talking, "you remember the day I left for L.A.? When I called you at the airport?" I asked her. She hummed out a response. "I called you because I had a random anxiety attack," She squeezed my hand a little tighter and rubbed her thumb across the back.

"When was the last time that had even happened to you? Over a plane ride?" She questioned.

"I don't even remember" I shrugged, "probably my first trip to L.A ever."

"That's weird. Were you fine coming this way?"

"Yeah, I was fine. I was excited to board the plane." I pulled up to a red light then looked over at her.

"I don't like that that happened to you," She frowned. The light turned green and I turned my focus back on the road.

"I'm glad I had your voice to calm me down." I rubbed my thumb across the back of her hand.

I looked over at her and I saw her smiling at the road.

We drove for ten more minutes in comfortable silence then reached the house. I parked in her spot, turned off the car then we both got out. She opened the back and reached for my backpack while I got my suitcase.

As soon as I set it down, she pulled me into a hug, burying her face into my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head.

"Let's go to bed," I said quietly.

She slowly unwrapped herself from me then turned towards the front door. We took our shoes off at the door then went to our shared bedroom. I placed my suitcase in a corner and she placed my bag on top.

She crawled into bed while I quickly changed out of my clothes. I slid in next to her and she immediately cuddled into me.

She leaned her head up and placed a kiss on my lips, turning into a slow and passionate makeout session.

Once we pulled away, she brought a hand up to the side of my face and ran her thumb against my cheek. "Thank you" I whispered, not wanting to change the atmosphere around us.

"For what?" She whispered back.

"Just.. for being you" I told her causing her to crack a smile. "Thank you for always being your amazing self. I love you for that."

"Well then thank you for always being your amazing self also." She smiled at me. "I love you too."
