It's funny cause in third person, to them you're literally a mind reader. I'm done now.

Lance POV:

I sighed as we wandered the luscious green and purple planet full of flowers and trees we've never seen before. It was gorgeous and it made me miss earth.

I stopped as the most elegant scenery that was displayed before me. Water poured over a cliff pooling at the bottom in a small lake. Overgrown plants surrounded the area thriving off the water.

I walked to the waterfall and reached my hand into it feeling the water splash onto my armor. I felt for the rock behind but my hand passed through. I snuck around the water getting slightly wet in the process to find that there was a cave behind it.

"You've got to be kidding me." I whispered to myself. I know Shiro instructed us to stay close but I can't help myself. The cave dipped down into a steep slope. I couldn't see the end however purple light illuminated from the bottom.

I carefully took a step but the rocks and mud slipped out from under me and I was sent flying down a streak of water occasionally bumping or scratching myself on a rock. I finally hit the bottom and looked up.

The stream I was in rolled off a ledge into a pool of purple luminous water. Crystals grew around and I smiled at the sight.

I climbed down and touched the water. Upon my touch the water seemed to shimmer. I cupped some of the liquid and drank it. My vision began to darken and panic set in. Maybe drinking a mysterious purple liquid wasn't the best idea.

I suddenly shot up and looked around confused. I was sitting in front of the waterfall that turned into a lake. I stood up and touched behind the water only to find solid rock.

"Lance!" Hunk yelled from the jungle probably looking for me. I took one last glance at the rock before going to reunite with the team.

We were walking back into the castle to meet up with Allura and Coran and tell them we didn't find anyone living on the planet. "You really shouldn't run off by yourself." Hunk lectured.

"If humans can see water, can fish see air?" I heard Pidge say or so I thought.

"What?" I looked back at her but she just gave me a confused look.

"I... didn't say anything." She gave me a look like I was crazy.

"If I try to fail, and I succeed, which did I do?" He heard her say, except her mouth didn't move.

"Seriously, he's not even listening." Hunk spoke. Lance looked at him.

"I'm listening, it's just..." I trailed off.

"What's up with him?" Hunk thought.

It struck me and I nearly had a heart attack. I can hear what they are thinking.

"If I hit myself and it hurts, am I weak or strong?" Pidge thought.

I tuned her out thankful that I can choose to listen or not. Last thing I need is to go into an existential crisis because of Pidge's weird thoughts.

"What's up with him, maybe I should ask." I heard Shiro think. "Hey Lance, are you okay? You look spooked."

"I'm fine!" I yelped laughing nervously. "I just, I have to go do something." I took off.

"That was strange." Shiro thought as I made a b-line for my room.

I threw open my door, rushed in, and quickly shut it behind me with my back against it huffing for air. My heart is racing, why is it that I can hear everyone's thoughts?

I hid in my room for a while becoming more and more content with the idea. I basically just gained one of the coolest superpowers ever! I can tell everyone's moves before they make them right? I'll be the best fighter out there! I'll even beat Keith!

I walked out of my room happily, I'm ready to put this new ability to the test.

"Hey Coran! What are you up to?" I sauntered up to him casually.

"Why! Just giving the screaten transmitters an old polish! Making them shine like a sulvirean moon!" He smiled throwing a rag over his shoulder.

I didn't understand a word he said but chose to move past it. I listened for his thoughts.

"Coran, Coran, the gorgeous man!"

"What the..." I looked at him horrified.

"Well blue paladin, I believe I should be off. I'm going to check on the polverees over in the grot hut!" He exclaimed walking off, happily twirling his mustache.

Okay, maybe he wasn't the best person to practice on. Mostly because I can't understand what he says aloud let alone do I want to hear his thoughts.

"Hey Lance, I was just looking for you. Dinners ready!" Hunk smiled excitedly. "I can't wait to see what he thinks of the dish. Ha! He's got a hair sticking straight up."

I quickly ran my fingers through my hair correcting whatever rebellion was going on up there. "Thanks bud, I'm hungry."

I followed him to the dining hall and sat down. I was the last one there, well almost. Keith walked in and sat a seat over of across from me. I felt excitement bubble in my stomach. I want to read his thoughts desperately.

But, I'll save best for last. I looked to Shiro and listened. "What if I'm really weird and I'm so crazy and messed up that I just think I'm normal and everyone's been told to act like I'm not screaming really loud and obnoxiously." A small pause. "What if everyone could hear my thoughts and they know what I'm thinking."

I took a sip of water and watched as Shiro glanced at all of us with suspicious eyes making me spit out my water laughing. I quickly covered my mouth with my napkin catching it. I hid my smile using the square paper.

"You Okay?" Shiro asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." I was still smiling to myself.

I looked at Coran but decided to skip him. I helped myself to some salad, green mashed potatoes, and some sort of red vegetable...? Now for Allura.

"Can a blind person see in their dreams?" I watched as her face twisted with contemplation.

And that's enough of that. I looked at Pidge but I already learned my lesson with her. Hunk? His thoughts seem kind of boring but why not?

"The mashed potatoes seem fine but they could use a little more spice. I wish I could get ahold of potatoes but I suppose that gorak was an okay substitute."

Boring! I looked at Keith. Now for the good stuff.

"Damn, is Lance looking at me? I hope he didn't catch me staring." I looked away casually. "He's not. That was close."

I took another bite of my food intrigued.

"Oh man, he's doing the thing. Damn he's good looking."

I nearly choked. What thing? And did Keith just think I'm good looking?

"I need to stop. Lance is straight, it's wrong."

"No I'm not!" I blurted. Everyone looked at me with a mix of shock and confusion. "Sorry, my bad, just... thinking out loud."

"Can he read my thoughts or something? No it's just a coincidence. But what if he can? Stop thinking. Don't think about Lance. Shit. Wait. Stop."

I smiled to myself and finished off the weird red food. Keith likes me. It was a newfound revelation, and suddenly everything was better and brighter.

If I were on earth, this is the part where birds would be chirping and the sun would be shining.

It would be nice if I could get Keith alone, but at the moment that seems like an impossible task. I stared at him and paused mid chew to give me a questioning look.

"What's he doing? Why is he staring at me? Play it off, don't be awkward." He looked up at me grumpily. "Can I help you?"

"Yes." I sighed leaning on my hand as I continued to stare. This has to make him think, and I love to hear his thoughts.

"What?" Keith's face was red and he looked flustered. "Abort, abort, abort!"

"No, don't!" I said out loud.

"Lance, is everything okay?" Shiro asked concerned. "What's going on with him? He's acting really weird."

"Yes, you're acting strange." Allura agreed.

"Lance is always strange." Pidge thought.

"Hey, am not!" I glared at Pidgeon.

"Don't imagine him shirtless. Don't. No. Ah shit." I looked at Keith to see he looked absolutely natural like nothing was happening. "Oh no he's hot!" The vine rung. Of course Keith plays vines in his head. I broke into laughter.

"Oh my gosh Keith, I friggen love you." I blurted in the laughing. I quickly shut my mouth realizing what I had said.

"Did he just...? Holy MoThER OF!!"

Everyone was thinking, thinking really loud but were quiet. I covered my ears unable to block them all out. "You're all too loud!" I yelled.

"Lance... we aren't saying anything." Shiro looked worried.

"Y-you're too loud!" I shouted again hearing all their thoughts blaring in my ears unable to control it. I took off to my room and closed myself in quickly calming at the silence.

"Lance..." there was a quiet knock at the door. "He probably doesn't want to see me of all people."

It's Keith. I quickly opened the door and pulled him in. "Keith, I need help.

"Why is he asking me for help? What can I do? Oh wow he's hot. Wait, focus!"

"Keith, I need you to stop thinking for a minute." I grabbed his arms. His eyes shifted from my hands to my face as he gave me a 'what are you doing' look.

"Stop... thinking?" Keith raised an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"

"I... I can hear your thoughts." I admitted.

"Oh no. You've got to be kidding me, what does he know? What has he heard?" Keith looked panicked.

"Wait, calm down. I've heard a lot, I know." I held onto his arms pulling him a bit closer.

"He's messing with me." Keith pulled away and backed up to the door.

"I'm not messing with you! I'm being serious!" I snapped.

He froze as he was reaching for the door. "Is he actually telling the truth?"

"Yes! I am! Please, Keith." I grabbed his wrist pleadingly.

"How? And... what all have you heard?" He asked the lady question nervously.

"When we were on that planet, I drank some purple water and blacked out. I thought it would be okay!" I explained.

"Of course, he drank some mysterious water. Why do I have to like a-stop listening to my thoughts!" He snapped glaring at me.

"I can't help it! I can't control it anymore." I begged.

"We need to tell Coran and Allura." Keith looked at me sternly.

"No! When I first got the ability it seemed fine; I could control who and when I listened. But now... I can't. It's too loud and overbearing. I can't handle it." I rubbed my temples.

"He actually looks shaken up. I should comfort him. What should I do?" Keith thought watching me with wide eyes.

"Just... hold me?" I offered.

Keith was taken back that I can still hear every private thought. He awkwardly wrapped his arms around me. I took the hug into my own hands and he relaxed it becoming more natural.

"I can't believe I'm hugging Lance floopimg McClain. What if I k-Lance, if you're listening to my thoughts I'm actually going to hit you."

"Do you want to finish that thought?" I smirked.

"I was going to say 'what if I kill you'." Keith pushed away.

"No, I don't think you were. I think you forgot, I have been listening for a while. I really enjoyed your thoughts at dinner." I teased sauntering up behind him as he sulked with his arms crossed.

"Fine, go ahead. Make fun of me," Keith turned around furious, "but I'm not sticking around to hear it. Have fun solving this on your own." He walked to the door.

I quickly ran in front blocking the exit. "You didn't even bother to ask what my thoughts are on it." I frowned.

"I don't want to hear it Lance." Keith snapped. "Forget whatever thoughts you heard from me. I don't care what you thought of them."

My eyes welled up with tears and I moved out of the way. "Fine! Then leave! You jerk!" I practically shoved him out the door and slammed it.

Now that I thought about it, he never actually admitted to liking me. He was clearly gay but that doesn't mean he has to like me or any guy on this ship for that matter. It doesn't matter if he thinks I'm good looking, he sees me as a weak, screw up, flirty, klutz. I wiped my tears off on my jacket sleeve.

I thought about what I should do to fix the mess I'm in. I can't get help from anyone, especially not Keith, so I suppose I'll take his advice. I'll solve this on my own.

I waited until I knew everyone had went off to their rooms to sleep and snuck out. I crept down the hallway and silently slipped through doors. I decided not to take my lion, if I screw up I'm replaceable, the lions are not. I crawled into a pod and set it to go back to the planet. We aren't far away so it shouldn't be long, 15 minutes tops in such a small pod.

I launched it and hoped it didn't cause too much of a ruckus though I doubted it. It could've woken up the entire ship for all I care anyway. They won't find me and I can handle this on my own.

I took deep breaths as I saw the planet come into view. I prepared to land and quickly switched an array of buttons and gadgets. The pod broke through the atmosphere and I resisted the urge to flinch and pressed on. I safely landed and climbed out.

I didn't recognize the area but I came prepared. I pulled out a GPS made by Pidgeon and Hunk specially. I quickly realized my location and headed in the direction I needed to go; the waterfall.

I quicken my pace as I walked through the jungle. The sky was dark and I couldn't help but get the feeling something was watching me. I heard a rustle in the bushes and I tried to play it off as a rabbit. Out stepped a a large animal looking similar to a monkey with horns. It screeched and I responded doing the same, mine however, was more out of fear.

I switched my bayard to the gun and ran. I didn't stop until I made it to the lake. I panted switching my weapon back as I hunched over. I calmed seeing the waterfall.

I ran in the ankle deep area of the water and reached my hand through the waterfall feeling my hand pass through. I sighed in relief stepping inside the familiar cave.

I looked down the incline and took a shaky step forward. And because I didn't learn from the first time, my foot slid across the mud and I was sent flying down hitting every rock on the way. I reached the bottom bruised and muddy hissing as I stood up warily.

I looked at the purple pool once again mesmerized. I walked around it carefully while dodging sharp purple crystals. I went further back into the cave feeling along the damp walls.

The cave took a sharp turn to a single exposed wall with blue writing scribed along it. I couldn't make sense of the symbols, however, just like reading the thought of someone, I read the words.

"To reverse the effects of the Cadmiriam Malawikan Moon Water, you must listen for the thoughts of the cave."

I felt my stomach turn with a sudden loss of hope. Listen to the caves thoughts? What does that mean?

I sighed and sat down on the ground trying to concentrate. I relaxed myself and instead of trying focus, cleared my thoughts leaving my brain an empty void.

A wind drove through humming off the walls of the cave. I opened my eyes slowly to watch as the water swirled into a pure white. I crawled to the edge and laid flat on my belly reaching into the water. I cupped the liquid and drank it.

This time I didn't black out, I didn't feel any different in fact. I supposed the only way for me to find out was to go back to the castle. I began the slow laborious journey back to the top of the cave.

I broke through the waterfall panting, my muscles feel weak and overworked. I heard my name called faintly in the distance and my head shot up.

They know I'm here. How did they know I'm here?

"Lance, there you are!" Hunk exclaimed. "I found him!" He called over his helmet.

"Okay, lets regroup back the lion." Shiro directed.

Hunks attention shifted back to me and he frowned. "What were you thinking! You could've gotten yourself killed! You just snuck out and didn't tell us!"

"I can't hear your thoughts!" I exclaimed happily shaking him.

"My what? Lance, what happened to you? You look awful." Hunk looked genuinely concerned.

"Couldn't be better." I smiled weakly. That wasn't entirely true, I was still unbelievably upset about Keith. It was a gut wrenching feeling of guilt and sadness. I felt guilty for believing he liked me and sad because he didn't.

"Let's get you back to the castle so you can get cleaned up." Hunk put an arm around me assuringly and lead me to the lion.

We reached the black lion and climbed inside. It had the pod I took hanging from it's mouth already powered and ready to go.

"Lance, you better have a good explanation for this." Shiro said as we entered the cockpit.

"When we were on this planet I drank some strange water and I was able to hear everyone's thoughts. It was great at first but I lost control over it and I couldn't block out all of your thoughts. It became to much. I had to find out how to get rid of it and that's what I did. I'm fine now." I explained sitting next to Hunk quietly not daring to smile.

"You look like shit." Keith smiled a half smile sitting to the other side of Hunk.

I didn't say anything and just turned away laying my head on my knees that I held to my chest. At the moment I wish I could still hear his thought so I could understand what the hell he was thinking.

It was quiet for a moment. "So you could hear all our thoughts huh?" Hunk asked trying to make it less awkward.

"Yeah. Yours were boring by the way." I smiled.

"What about mine?" Pidge asked curiously.

"They made me question my existence." I shivered.

"Good." She nodded knowingly.

"What about Shiro?" Hunk asked.

"His were just really weird. Mostly him questioning his existence." I spoke feeling better.

"Yeah that sounds about right." He said while flying the lion.

"And Keith?" Pidge asked.

I went quiet and Keith didn't dare speak either. "I was..." I thought how I should go about this, "led to get my hopes up about something that wasn't true." I stated. Pidge, Hunk, and Shiro knew better than to ask anymore questions.

"That isn't true and you know it." Keith glared.

"As if!" I huffed. He made me so angry I couldn't contain it. Shiro just landed the ship and I immediately stormed out.

"Wait Lance!" Hunk ran after me. I was stomping my way to my room and I turned around sharply. "Maybe you should talk it out."

"Talk about what? I thought Keith liked me but he doesn't. I made a fool of myself and... and..." I wiped a tear off my cheek and pulled Hunk into a hug.

"Lance..., do you like me?" Keith's voice rung from behind Hunk.

I let go of him and immediately backed up. "Does it matter?" I snapped.

"Yes, now answer it." Keith pressed urgently.

"Yes." I admitted.

Keith immediately pulled me into a hug as Hunk smiled proudly. "I like you too."

I was utterly shocked but I squeezed back burying my face in his shoulder. I suddenly pulled away. I want answers. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I assumed you knew from hearing my thoughts! I expected you to tease me." Keith chuckled.

"Me? Tease you? I don't know what would ever give you that thought." I laughed before sliding in for a kiss.

Part of me almost expected him to push me away or punch me, but he kissed back tenderly.

"Oh I'm so proud." Hunk smiled teary eyed.
