Y/n had never once doubted the fact that her mother loved her.
She had never been the perfect mother, or the overly loving mother but she had always done everything she could to ensure her daughter had a good upbringing.
She had worked excruciatingly long shifts as a nurse, day in and day out. Every waking moment was spent at the hospital nearby, dealing with all sorts of patients.
However she would always leave notes around the house, reminding Y/n that she loved her and that she wanted the very best for her one pride and joy.

Y/n had always appreciated her mother for this, only on very rare occasion letting the selfishness get the better of her and fight with her mother because living with her was like living alone. At times it felt like she didn't even have a mother.
But Y/n knew that all of this was for her, that her mother did all of this so she could give her a chance at life that she couldn't have.

Neither of them expected the illness, the sick cells gnawing away at her vital organs without either of them noticing until it was too late.
It had all happened so fast, one day she was alright, saying goodnight to her daughter with a kiss before a night shift, the next, Y/n had received a call while she was at school to come by the hospital because her mother had collapsed. And that was it. She had never woken up again for the past two years.
At first the doctors had deemed it a coma, but after a whole year they had cancelled that out and re-written it as a vegetative state.

"What are you guys doing here?" Y/n asked, questioning their presence at the cafΓ©. If they had been here to get something to drink or to eat, they would have been seated somewhere, possibly menus in hand and not with Kirishima and Mina trying to hold back Bakugo with a hand clamped over his mouth.

"We wanted to talk" Mina said, a small smile on her face.

Y/n turned towards Kaori, who simply nodded her head, giving her a brief break so she could sit with her friends.
The four of them made their way to one of the booths, Mina sitting next to Y/n, Kirishima and Bakugo both taking a seat in front of the two girls.

"So, what's this about?" Y/n asked, tapping her fingers on the table, her body pressed against the back of her place.

"You should come to the beach house Y/n, you really need a break"

Kirishima had started off the conversation, placing his chin in the palm of his hand as he gave her a soft look. Y/n felt tense at his words, unsure as to how she was going to get them to back down. She knew she had no place in their holiday, it being a break from school and a way to celebrate finishing their exams. But she wasn't in school and had no exams to celebrate, so why even were they here.
Y/n was about to object, but before she could, Bakugo stopped her by speaking himself.

"Don't say no, I won't let you rot away in your flat for the whole summer" he snarled, making Y/n widen her eyes.

"What?" she asked, her voice a little more high-pitched than usual.

"I said, you're coming with us whether you like it or not. Also, I'm paying your share of the house" he retorted.

Y/n gaped at his determination to have her there, unsure as to how to handle the situation. She was certain Bakugo would drag her all the way there if he really had to, so there wasn't that much to say really.

"I-"

"We really want you to come Y/n, please" Mina whined, grabbing her arm and shaking her gently, trying to make her give in by giving her puppy dog eyes. The corner of Y/n's mouth twitched in to a smile at their pleading. She was surprised at how desperate they were, not wanting to leave her behind. It felt nice, the rush of warmth making her give in to the temptation.

"Alright alright" Y/n sighed in defeat.

"But you're not paying for my share" Y/n warned, glaring at Bakugo who just scoffed.

"It's not like I'm paying anyway, it's the old hag's money. I'm sure she'll be more than happy to pay for you too" he smirked, making Y/n shake her head at his nickname for his mother.
However, Bakugo then changed his demeanor, letting his more serious side come out.

"I know you can't waste your money like that Y/n, so let me help, alright?" his voice was a bit lower, his eyes softening from his usual glare to a more pleading look.
Y/n stood up, leaning across the table, grabbing Bakugo and pulling him towards her, her arms wrapping around his shoulders as she hid her face in his neck.
Mina and Kirishima looked at each other over Y/n's bent back, giving themselves a thumbs up.

Two days had gone by, their group chat exploding with messages as they tried to coordinate everything as they sent links of houses to rent, food shopping plans and most importantly the days they'd be going there.
It was pure chaos in the group, mostly involving the ones from class 1-A, Shinso and Y/n both making sure they steered away from any important decision making.

Todoroki and Uraraka were probably the most useless in this whole situation, the male sending links to beach mansions, forgetting that not everyone had a father's credit card to steal, while Uraraka would reply with voice messages where she would scream about how much she'd have to pay for those houses, not realising no one was even considering them.
To say the least, it was a mess.

The umpteenth buzz of a notification woke Y/n up. It was Saturday, so she didn't hesitate to sleep in, wanting to catch up on as many hours of rest as she could.
She slammed her head on the pillow, not wanting to wake up, but her ears were now listening in on the sounds coming from her phone.
After a very long moment where she was contemplating life, Y/n eventually sat up, grabbing her phone and quickly scrolling through the hundred of messages in the group chat.
She managed to summarise it to them finally finding an affordable place, with enough rooms for everyone to share.

Y/n smiled at the excited chatter in the group, rubbing her eye, forgetting about the abrupt wakening she had received from them.
She eventually placed her phone down, stretching her arms over her head.

It didn't take long for her to get up and have a shower, wrapping herself in a soft towel as she made her way back to the bedroom, so she could rummage through the wardrobe to find something comfortable to wear. Y/n didn't have many plans for the day, expecting to stay in and relax most of her waking hours.
Her search for clothes waa interrupted by the ringing coming from her phone, pulling her attention towards it.

"Kaori?" she questioned, looking at the caller ID, surprised her boss was calling her on a weekend. She quickly replied to the phone call, worried she might need her help for something.

"Ah, Y/n" her voice was cheerful as she recognised the sound that indicated that her call had gone through.

"Kaori? Is something wrong?" Y/n asked, holding her phone to her ear by closening her shoulder to the side of her head, her hands grabbing on to some sweatpants and a t-shirt.

"No no, but I do need a favour. Do you have any plans this weekend?" she asked.

Y/n would have liked to stay in the house all day, but she couldn't really lie to her about having plans, after all Kaori had done so much for her in the past, it would have been incredibly rude of her if she refused without having a true reason. Y/n mentally said goodbye to her peaceful Saturday, not knowing what Kaori was going to ask of her.

"No, I'm free. What do you need?" Y/n replied, switching her on to speakerphone as she got dressed.

"I had a call from the cat shelter near the cafΓ©, they said they have two cats that desperately need a place to stay or they'll be put down" Kaori explained, Y/n quietly waiting for her to continue.

"Could you possibly go pick them up? I know we already have quite a few, but I'd rather give them a chance, you know?" Kaori said. Y/n could hear the light tremble in her voice, only at the thought of the cats being put down. She knew her boss had a soft spot for the felines.

"Do you want me to also bring them to the vet later? So we don't put the other cats at risk?" Y/n asked, agreeing to Kaori's request.

"Yes! That would be amazing, thank you. Keep me updated"

Kaori was quick to close the call, probably having other things to attend to. The cafΓ© was open on Saturdays too, but she'd have the part-timers cover the weekend shifts, so she could give Y/n some days off. Though, being part-timers, they needed more assistance than Y/n did as they weren't one hundred percent confident about what they were doing most of the time.

Y/n slipped on a pair of shoes, not bothering to get changed out of her home clothes, after all she wasn't going anywhere fancy.
She plugged her earphones in, putting the two buds in her ears before accessing her Spotify playlist, already knowing what her song for the walk there was going to be.
Her keys were shoved in her front pocket, her phone in the back, her light step guiding her towards the shelter she knew so well. It wasn't the first time Y/n had gone to pick up a new cat for the cafΓ©, in fact she would be the one going most of the times due to Kaori being so busy.

Y/n smiled as she basked her face in the sun, her head slightly pulled back so she'd expose her skin to the light.
It had been a while since she had strolled around the city like that, her schedule being so crammed with work, the hospital and her friends.
Y/n stopped once she recognised the place, her hand not hesitating as she pushed open the door, the loud meowing from the back surpassing the volume of her music.

"Ah, good morning miss Y/n, Kaori called in to say you'd be coming by" the familiar voice of the shelter owner distracting the girl from the meows.
Y/n spun around, greeting him in return.

"Please follow me to the back" he said, his smile unfaltering as he got up from his spot, Y/n following close behind.
As they entered the door in the back, Y/n's eye caught a rather unusual colour in the end of the room. A violet that definitely did not belong in that place.
She squinted her eyes, her not so perfect vision making it hard to tell who the person was, but as she got closer, she recognised the wild purple hair and the tall build of the boy standing with his back to her, inspecting one of the cages very carefully.

"Shinso?" her voice came out automatically, her mind not even having the time to process if this was a good idea or if she should just let him be.
The boy turned around, startled by his own name being called, not expecting it. His matching purple irises slowly rested on the familiar girl standing in front of him, the muscles in his face tense.

"L/n" he addressed, giving her a small nod before turning back around.
Y/n sighed as she gave the shelter owner an apologetic look, not wanting for him to get mixed up in the awkward situation the two teenagers had just formed.
Y/n felt weird around Shinso. She tried to be friendly and approachable for his sake, knowing he probably didn't find it easy making friends, yet she felt like she had pushed him away somehow, rather than gotten closer to him.

"Right this way" the shelter owner called, motioning forward towards a cage on the opposite side of the wall, making Y/n move closer to inspect the new entries of the cafΓ©.

Shinso eyed her as she moved away from him, his mind filling with questions about the girl. By now he had seen her quite a few times, yet he barely even knew her name and this confused him, since people would usually force their friendship on him and if not, then they were there to get in his way. But not her, for some reason, he couldn't place her in either box, not knowing what her intentions were.

Not that I care anyway
