"Ah, Miss L/n, I'm glad you're doing well"

Y/n turned towards the voice, recognising the familiar nurse behind the front desk. A gentle smile formed on her face.

"Good morning" Y/n chimed, walking over to her as the lady grabbed the various charts.

"I'll walk you to her" the nurse said, walking towards the all too familiar hallway. Y/n quietly followed behind, holding the strap of her bag tightly in her hand, her gaze jumping from one person to the other, seeing if she noticed any other familiar faces. A few doctors waved at her, some patients also sent her quick 'hello's as they went down the pearly white halls.
Y/n had always felt unsettled by the unnatural brightness of the hospital, its walls hiding sickness and death behind every door.

"Here we are" the nurse said, pointing to the door. They would guide her every time, even though the room never changed and she had been coming here for the past two years.
Y/n was unsure if they were walking her there out of kindness or out of fake simpathy.

"Nothing has changed since last time, so you shouldn't worry about going in"

And with that the nurse left, leaving the girl to open the door up and go inside. Her eyes immediately flickered towards the woman laying in the bed, her face as sunken as usual, her eyelids shut as if she were sleeping. The rhythmic beeping of the various machines filled the painful silence of the room.

"Hi mum" she whispered, her voice lowering, as if she was worried she'd be disturbing her mother's sleep, even though she knew she wouldn't be waking up any time soon.
Y/n made her way to the chair on the other side of the bed, gently placing her hand on her mother's.
She felt her soft skin under her touch, but the warmth that usually emitted from it when she was awake was absent.
Two years since she had spoken with her mother. She'd been on life support all this time because Y/n had never found the courage to accept the fact that she probably wasn't waking up. She was waiting on a miracle.

The morning light shone through the glass window, slowly warming the cold room, rays of light dancing across the walls. Y/n watched her mother, repeatedly imagining her eyes opening over and over in her head, yet that never happened in real life.

"How is she?"

The voice brought Y/n out of her own thoughts, making her turn her head towards the door.
Bakugo nodded his head towards her mother, his eyes darting to the ground. He wasn't good with comforting people, sickness and sadness weren't exactly his strong suit, so he would always avoid eye contact when it came to those things.
Y/n's gaze softened as she watched him make his way inside, his hands shoved deep in to his pockets, his messy hair pointing in each direction as per usual.

"Nothing's changed" Y/n sighed, turning back towards her mother.
She felt a hand place on her shoulder, the familiar warmth making her relax a little under his touch.

"How did you know I was here? And shouldn't you be in school?" Y/n asked, resting the side of her head on the back of his hand.
Bakugo looked down at her, noticing how her shoulders slumped forward so she could reach her mother from her position in the chair, giving up the possibility of being comfortable.

"The old hag called in to check on your mother and they told her that you were going to be coming in soon" he shrugged.

Mitsuki and Y/n's mother had always been close, having met in one of those baby courses you'd take so you'd know what to do with a baby once it actually came out in to the world. They were both, to say the least, completely oblivious about what it meant to have a baby and it clearly showed in the first few months when the two had decided to live together so they could help each other out.
It was, to say the least, disastrous.

In the end, Masaru had been the one to teach the two helpless mothers how to handle their own children after having gone through various mental breakdowns from both Mitsuki and M/n.

"You didn't answer my second question" Y/n pointed out, looking up at the blonde, who let a small smirk appear on his lips.

"There were no Hero lessons today, so there was no point in me going"

Y/n let out a small laugh, not at all surprised by her friend's answer, going back to look at the machines hooked up to her beloved mother.

Kaminari: Shinso, I see
you all alone there,
come sit with us 😭😭

Shinso: no

Kaminari: but why😭

Kirishima: yeah, Shinbro
come sit with us

Sero: Shinbro?

Kirishima: what? it's
an extremely
manly nickname

Shinso: you guys
really can get on my
nerves sometimes

Shinso had been in a bad mood all through the weekend and pretty much the whole of Monday morning, the only highlight of the day being when he met a stray cat on his walk to school and had been able to pet it.
That's it.

He stood up from his place at his own table at lunch, making his way over to the group that had just texted him, knowing he'd never hear the end of it if he didn't.

"Where's Bakugo?" he asked, looking around the table as he set his tray, taking his place next to Sero, who gave him a smile.

"He said something about... something important and L/n-san and something else" Kirishima tried to recall, thinking back to his early morning call with Bakugo.

"Basically, he's not at school?" Shinso summarised, having no use for anything that Kirishima had just said. It was probably one of the most vague responses he could have given him, not being of any use whatsoever.

Kirishima nodded his head before feeding himself a fork full of food.

Shinso kept quiet most of lunchtime, tuning in on their conversation every now and then, just so he didn't leave himself completely out of the mix and whatever they were talking about.
He bit in to his apple, his head lazily sitting in the palm of his hand as he, once again, directed his attention towards the conversation.

"Do you think there's something going on between Bakugo and L/n-san?" Mina asked curiously, gently sipping on her strawberry milk.
Kaminari basically choked on his saliva as he imagined it, the idea of Bakugo stealing the girl he was basically devoted to, almost killing him instantly.

Shinso rolled his eyes, it seemed that as of lately, the group couldn't speak about anything other than that girl from the café.

"What are you doing?" Sero asked, eyeing the frantic blonde typing on his phone. Then, a few seconds later, all of their screens turned on with the appearance of a new notification.
Shinso opened up his phone, checking in on what Kaminari had done.

💥Wannabe Heroes💥

Kaminari: Bakugo are
you in love with L/n-san? 😭

Shinso scoffed at the message, placing his phone back down, and trying to hold in his laugh.

"You know there's a great chance that they're just best friends and you've just given Bakugo another reason to beat you up until your brain sizzles?" Sero pointed out, making Kaminari even more panicked than he was.

"What's the big deal with this girl anyway?" Shinso asked, curious as to why there was such a big fuss revolving around her.

"Because she is amazing!" Kaminari replied, his eyes bright as he thought about Y/n.

"She's always so nice and so sweet and she makes the best cookies. Also she's so hot I think I'd melt if I got too close to her" Kaminari sighed, dropping his head on the table.
The group, apart from Shinso, laughed as he finished talking, Mina going to pat his head as if he were a hopeless puppy.

Shinso by now was begging the bell to ring so he could get away from all these happy-go-lucky people and hide behind some imaginary walls by scowling at every passing person. If he could, and if it was deemed socially acceptable, he would probably bark and growl at people too, just so they wouldn't bother him.
However that was not the case, but one of his wishes came true as he heard the sweet chime of the bell, signalling that it was time to go back to class and stop beng social.
Now, he was a little happier.

It didn't take long for Shinso to notice the familiar girl inside the cat café, in fact, it was almost immediate as he spotted her at her usual spot at the counter, waiting for someone to come in so she could greet them and walk them over to a table.
Shinso sighed, to be honest, the last person he wanted to see right now was her, the idea that she had played with his feelings and tried to make him believe something that wasn't true still vivid in his mind.

He was the manipulator, the brainwasher, the cold guy that others were afraid of. He hated that she didn't seem even slightly intimidated and had tried to toy with him instead.
And she did it in such a different way, at least everyone else was mean to his face and told him what they actually thought, while she just messed with his mind.
Which he thought was way worse.

"Good afternoon, welcome to Kitten Kafé, Shinso! Would you like a table?" the relaxed voice rang through his ears, startling him out of his own mind and thoughts.
His narrowed eyes quickly looked away from her, his hands quickly hid inside his back pockets.

"Yes" he replied, not bothering to show any kind of emotion.

Y/n didn't hesitate as she brought him to the same table from last time. She had noticed his cold and tough exterior, but it didn't really bother her. After all, if she could be friends with Bakugo she could be friends with pretty much anyone if she really wanted to.
However she was quick to sense his bad mood, another perk that came with being friends with Bakugo. She had always had to walk on eggshells around him and she had to figure out herself when it was the best time to bring up certain things with Bakugo and when not to.

Shinso sat in the seat, his face turning so he could look out of the window and admire the sunset. He mentally thanked the girl for giving him the same spot, which he also remembered was her favourite table, and it was obvious why. It was further away from other tables, more secluded from the couples and groups of friends as it was placed in front of the big window that gave out on the street, the sun just dropping in the horizon up in front. Orange, pink and yellows would seep through the glass and form various patterns across the walls and the table, warming up the air.
Shinso could probably spend hours describing and appreciating every single thing of this spot. Not to mention, it was obviously a popular spot with cats too, which would move to that place when the sun would set so they could sunbathe in the dimming light. This made Shinso even happier.

His thoughts were soon interrupted as he felt his phone buzz in his pocket, making him reach for it and open up the new notification.

💥Wannabe Heroes💥

Bakugo: the fuck
dunce face

Bakugo: god you're
even more stupid than
i thought

"So I guess he doesn't like her..." Shinso whispered to himself, setting his phone back down on the table.
A small tap on his arm caught his attention, making him turn towards the culprit. He expected it to be the girl, possibly coming over to disturb his peace and ask him what he would like. However he was surprised to see the usual black cat paw at him gently, its bright eyes looking up at his fluffy hair as if it were dazed.
Shinso let out a low chuckle, gently placing the feline on his lap.

"You're all the company I need"
