As soon as he heard the doorbell rang, he was on his feet. Clair was supposed to be home by 7 and it was almost 8 now. He was worried sick but he didn't want to disturb her girl-time.
With the widest grin on his face, he opened the door. His grin quickly vanished as he saw a big buff officer flash his ID at him.

"We've a search warrant, Mr. Misha Cortese." The officer spoke as he entered the house.

Misha was confused but he didn't know what to say. A search warrant against him? He was new here, how can they even do this? Is Chris playing a prank on him?
He went towards the table and picked up the phone. Before he could enter his number, an officer stopped him.

"We found several bags of ecstasy pills under your pile of clothes. Mr. Misha Cortese, you're under arrest for Drug Possession." He handcuffed him and dragged him outside.
He requested for one call, and they didn't let him make that.
It was, then, easy for him to figure who could be the one responsible for this. Jordan.

He could hear her ear-piercing scream from the receiver end and could feel the sweat forming on his forehead.
"Please don't hurt her." He said with a weak sigh. His legs were shaking and his breathing was irregular.

The man on the other side just laughed in response, "Why do you want to save a lying bitch man? She isn't even worth it."
"Don't you dare call her that. Please, just leave her alone. It's me who you want."

"So you got the point right, my friend. I won't hurt her if you come meet me within the next fifteen minutes."
"I'm on my way. Please, don't hurt her."
The call was disconnected before he could say another word.

He had to leave. And he had to do it fast. He couldn't let her die. She was the only person he had loved and had promised to protect her. Well the only person other than him.

He looked at his son playing with a toy car. A small smile formed on his lips. This might be the last time he was looking at him.

He walked towards him and placed a small kiss on his forehead.

"I need to leave you here, boy. Please don't annoy your grandma. You know she's a little sick."
The boy looked at him with big round eyes.
"Okay daddy. But do you know where mum is?"

He couldn't give his son false hopes right now.
"Some bad people have taken her but I'm gonna go bring her back and then we'll be together." He felt his voice cracking.
"No, daddy, don't go. They'll take you too and then I'll be all alone. I don't want to be alone." The boy had tears in his eyes now.

"I have to go." The clock was ticking. He had to leave or it would be too late to save anyone.
"I'll be back, I'll be back soon." He knew he was lying when he whispered these words into his little boy's ears.

"Promise?" The little boy's voice quivered.
"Promise." And he left.
The boy stayed at the door and waited. Waited till he fell asleep on the cold wooden floor.

Chris slammed the brakes as soon as he got outside the warehouse. He ran inside and into the basement to see Clair and Jess tied on individual chairs. His face lit up as he saw Jess' face, his wife was safe, he was on time.

Boom.

He shot her in the face. Her face that he loved was now covered in blood. He cried out and ran towards her.

"So sorry for your loss. You were exactly three seconds late and I'm a man of my words so I had to kill her." Jordan shrugged his shoulders and put the gun back in his belt. Clair's sobs had ceased, she looked petrified.

"Now just get done with it and kill me too!" Chris yelled at him, his face was now tear-stained.
"Oh I wouldn't do that. You've a kid to take care of. This was just to show you that you shouldn't really mess with someone who's way smarter than you." He smiled and walked past him to untie Clair's hands.

"I'm sorry, love. I didn't want you to see this all, but we've to be tough sometimes." He stroked her hair, ever so gently, like he hadn't killed a woman just a few moments ago in front of her.
"Get the hell away from me!" Clair spat and pushed him away.
"Ssh, it's gonna be ok. You'll get used to it. I'll help you. I love you." He, again, sat at her feet to untie them.
"Don't you dare say that. You tried to kill me and our child, you don't love anyone!" She started crying again.
"I'm so sorry, Clair. I really regret killing our child. If he or she was here, we would have a small little family. But don't worry, we'll have a another kid. I hope it's a boy." Jordan smiled, his eyes lit up, and he looked like the same innocent man Clair had felt the most comfortable with.

Chris shuffled on hearing this. Jordan didn't know about the child being alive, at least, the child was safe.
"Don't you dare move a limb, I need to talk to my future wife." Jordan turned to Chris.
"You're already married." He inched a little closer to Jordan.
"She'll be dead by tomorrow, a useless selfish bitch." Jordan's voice was bitter, he obviously hated that woman.
Clair shivered on hearing this. He was going to kill his wife too.

"Clair, don't be afraid. Since the day I lost you, I've been regretting it every moment. You can be my wife. I won't kill your over smart friend here and I won't kill Misha either. He seems harmless and doesn't deserve to be murdered, am I right?" The kindness in his voice was riling her up.
"No! No! No! You won't touch Misha, you won't do anything to him." She cried out and clenched her stomach, already feeling like she had lost Misha.
"If you'll just stop resisting me, I won't even touch him." He sounded so calm, how could he even do that?

Clair was completely untied and unharmed but she stayed in the chair, feeling cold and numb. She didn't want to be the reason Misha gets killed but she knew she wasn't going to get out of this so easily.

"You are a vile, manipulative, cold-blooded murderer. And I hate you. I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!" She stood up and tried taking the gun from his belt.
"I will kill you!" She kept crying and her grip on the gun tightened.

"Why don't you just let me do it the easy way?" Jordan lost his calm composure and tried snatching the gun from her hand. She was putting up a fight and wasn't going to let him win.
Chris rushed to help her, but it was too late, he had killed her. Straight in her chest. Jordan held her till her body went limp, he kissed her and laid her on the ground. He stared at the gun in his hands and then the body on the floor.

Chris laughed and laughed.
"Stop it." Jordan was on the verge of something and Chris couldn't help but push him further.
"You'll regret this all your life, wouldn't you? Your one and only love, killed by your own hands? Wouldn't you want to kill yourself? I was regretting bringing her here before but now I don't. The pain I see you in right now, it was so worth it." Chris spoke with hatred in his voice and laughed again.
"Chris, you'll pay for this. Even after you die, you'll regret saying this all. I'll make everyone you love suffer." Jordan spoke with his back against him.
"You can't do anything now. Just kill m-." And he did. He shot him in his leg first.
Chris laughed.
Another shot in his stomach. He crumbled on the floor.
Two more shots and he stopped moving.
Chris was dead, Jess was too, and so was Clair, his Clair.
