"Hey Jason!" Abby started waving at Jason as soon as he walked in to their classroom. He thought he was late but their History teacher had decided on competing with him.
"The old man is late again." Abby said as Jason sat next to her.
"I think he won't even show up today. By the way, I have something for you." He searched his bag and pulled out a new book from it.

Abby gave out a gasp when she saw the book in his hand. It was a hard cover copy of City of Heavenly Fire.

"Oh wow Jason, I didn't know you read books. This one is my favourite by the way." She said, still looking at the book as if it was a piece of candy.

"I'd rather eat a jar of pickles than read a stupid romance novel." He said, scoffing.
Abigail placed a hand on her heart, looked up towards the ceiling and started to mutter something.

"What the hell are you doing?" Jason asked, confused.
"Praying for patience." Came her quick reply.
"But why?"
Abigail looked at him and gave out a long sigh.
"I'm trying to control myself." She said softly.
"Wha-"
He was interrupted when a book hit him in the head.
"Ow! What was that for?" Jason whined.
"Don't you dare call that book stupid. It is the epitome of perfection. Assholes like you don't even deserve to hold it." She was giving him a killing glare and wanted to snatch the book from his hands.

"Okay babe, chill." He raised his hands in surrender. It was quite amusing to watch her getting so worked up over a measly book.

"Whatever." She said, rolling her eyes.
"Wanna go outside?" He asked.
Abigail looked around the class and without saying anything started to pack her bag.

They both sat on a bench by the trees and looked at the sixth grade boys playing soccer.

"So why do you do it?" Abigail asked, disrupting the quiet.
Jason looked at her, confused, but when he followed her gaze, he knew what she was talking about. She was eyeing the box of cigarettes poking out of his pocket.

"Cause it's fun." He said, with a slight shrug.
Their eyes met and Abby shook her head slightly.
"Don't lie to me, Jason."
"Okay fine. But the real reason is a bit embarrassing." He rubbed his neck.
"What is it?" She asked, now curious.
"So I always thought that the boys who smoked looked cool so I did it to look cool as well." He laughed nervously.
"I hope you know that I'm not buying that either." She frowned a bit as she said it.

Jason ran a finger across her forehead to remove the lines marring it but they only deepened.

"Well, it was worth a try." He shrugged.

Sensing that he was not in the mood to share right now, Abby decided to change the topic.
"You know you should really do something about all this fat. You're really lazy." Abby said, poking his stomach, only to meet hard muscles.

Jason snorted. "It's all muscle, baby."
Abby rolled her eyes. "I beg to differ."

At once, Jason got on his feet and raised his shirt in front of her face.
"Wanna touch, babe? I know you do." Jason said, giving a wide smirk.
"Argh, idiot! Go away." Abby said, pushing him lightly.
Jason fell on the ground due to that little push and made Abby roar with laughter.

"Are you trying to make me fall for you, woman?" Jason shouted.
Abby's mouth hung open at the cheesy line he had used on her. She had an idea about him being experienced with this flirting thing but it still shocked her.

"Wanna hear a secret?" Jason got up from the ground and slid next to her.
"Close that pretty mouth or something might happen sooner rather than later." Jason whispered in her ear and left a small kiss there. Before Abby could react, he got up and started to run.

"Oh shit." He stopped a few feet away and quickly turned back to her..
He took out the 'City of Heavenly Fire' from his bag and threw it at Abby.
"I had bought this for you, honey." Saying this, he ran away.
He wasn't really sure but he thought that he heard someone shout, 'Fuck you Jason Steiner!'

Michael decided to take a ride from Alex as Jason, once again, had disappeared. Michael made a mental note to ask him about his sudden disappearances.

They both were listening to twenty one pilots when Michael decided to tell him everything that had happened yesterday. He turned the volume down causing Alex to give him a quizzical look.

"You alright, mate?" Alex asked, shooting him a worried look.
"I got a call." Michael said, with a poker face.
"Did Jason set you up with a too old for you woman again?" Alex gave out a small chuckle.
"It was Mrs. Simpson."
Alex felt the mood shift. That woman was not letting Michael move on.
"What does she want with you now?" He asked, clearly annoyed.
"She was kidnapped and now she is dead. Someone killed her, Alex. I heard it all. I couldn't do anything." Michael was still talking in a monotone voice.
"Oh, Okay." Alex replied, his eyes on the road but his head full of thoughts. Thoughts about his stuck-up best friend, an uncaring mother and a way too busy father.

"That's all you've to say?" Michael felt a wave of anger course through him.

Alex met his eyes for a fleeting moment.

"What else was I supposed to say?"

"Anything but an okay."

"Look Michael, please don't get too involved in this. Let the police handle this case. We've talked about this before. You'll only meet trouble if you keep on going like this."

"How can you even say something like that?" Michael was shocked by his attitude.
"That guy is dead, Mike, it's time to get over this. Who cares if his mom died too? He was probably involved in some illegal business and he paid the price. He was an idiot."
"Stop the car!" Michael shouted. He couldn't stand Alex anymore.
"As you wish." Alex didn't look at Michael, not even for a second.
As soon as the car stopped, Michael slammed the car door and walked the rest of the way to the workshop.
Something was really wrong with Alex. He never did something like this. Michael would've sensed the change in his behaviour if he himself wasn't too angry and worried to care about anything else.

Jason was getting ready to go to the gym when he heard his grandfather talking on the phone in the living room. He was about to go out when his grandfathers' words froze his legs.
"I just hope that Jason doesn't take after a fool of his father." His grandpa said in an annoyed tone.
There was silence for a few seconds, apparently the person on the other side had something to add.
"Oh no, nothing can change the fact that he acted like an idiot that night. He ruined everything. He was being an emotional idiot and he paid the price."
Jason walked towards the living room and saw his grandpa pacing around. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Jason leaning against the wall.

"Were you trying to eavesdrop on me?" Mr Steiner immediately disconnected the call.
"Oh don't stop. Insult my father on my account too, grandpa." Jason's voice was empty of any emotion.
"Don't talk to me like that, young man." Mr Steiner rebuked.
"Then don't talk about my father like that, old man." Jason spat out.
At this point, he didn't care that he was talking to his grandpa. All the respect had flown out of the window when he had talked bad about his father. For all these years, he had seen his grandpa defend his father whenever he talked shit about him but now when he heard his grandpa talk about his father like that, he couldn't help but feel angry at him.

His grandpa's face was red with anger. "Shut up boy, you know nothing."
"So tell me." Jason shouted. "I'm all ears, Pa. Tell me what happened that night. Why did they both leave me? Are they even alive or not?"
His angry rant stopped when Mr. Steiner turned around and slammed his room's door.
"Keep your nose out of this." His grandpa shouted from inside, his voice now muffled.
"Oh no grandpa, I'm gonna find out what happened. With or without your fucking help." Saying this Jason stormed towards his room.

He closed his bedroom door with a loud bang. At once he started to throw things here and there. He was turning red with anger. He flipped his study table and moved anything that was in front of that wall.
Then he looked under his bed and took out his forgotten spray paints. It had been a while since he last used it.

He spent hours in front of that wall. Spraying black, white and grey wherever he wanted. Heavy metal was blasting from his headphones and he felt calmer know. Spraying a little on the edge to complete his work, he finally stepped back to take a look. His shirt was wet with sweat but he didn't care. He just looked at what he made.

The once white wall was was now covered with black. Nothing but darkness covered more than half of the wall. There was a street lamp on the side and a small boy was lying on the ground next to it. The boy had looked as if he had cried himself to sleep. If someone looked hard enough, they would've spotted two shadows. Shadows leaving the boy alone to fend for himself in the dark world.
