Jason closed the refrigerator with a small bang. He was hungry and all the leftover food decided to vanish today. He, once again, opened the refrigerator to get some food but soon realised that he was too lazy to make a sandwich.

On his way out of the kitchen, he grabbed some apples from the fruit basket and a knife to peel them. No matter how lazy he was, he had swore to never eat apple peels because for some reason he found them disgusting.

He walked towards his room and decided to watch Fast and Furious 5 on his laptop. No matter how old this movie was and how much better the sequels got, this was an evergreen hit for him.

Two apples and half a movie later, Jason had the sudden urge to pee.
He was in the washroom when he heard some shuffling from his room.
"I'll be out in a minute." He called out thinking that maybe Alex or Mike had came since they both had spare keys to his house.

"Who are you?" He was shocked to see a man, probably in his thirties, looking over his things.
"Me? Oh I'm your doom, mate." He said. Even though half of his face was covered, Jason could tell that he was smirking.
"What d-"
He was interrupted as he felt a prick in his neck.
He touched that spot and turned around to come face to face to another guy holding a syringe.
Jason tried to push him away but was too late. The syringe was already half empty.

Not wanting to go down without a fight, Jason tried to kick and punch both the guys.
Lucky for him, one of the guys got a good kick in his groin and Jason couldn't help but smile when he saw him crumbling on the floor in pain.

Jason could feel the energy draining from him. His eyes felt heavy and slowly, he lost his consciousness.

*******

Elise couldn't control the smirk forming on her face. She had hidden the name of the shampoo with another tag.

Michael had given her the spare key to his house and even though she felt weird about it, she used it and went inside with cautious steps.
"Jason?" She called out. When there was no answer, she walked towards the kitchen.

She was about to go back, thinking that no one was home, when she heard footsteps from upstairs.
She decided to have a look as she didn't want to walk all the way home after making a master plan that would annoy the hell out of him.

She opened the door and couldn't believe her eyes.
Her heart stopped beating for a second and her feet seemed frozen in place.

In front of her was a sight that she never imagined to see even in her wildest dreams.

His arms and legs were dangling in the air and his face had turned a lighter shade of blue. He made a gagging sound and that was enough to bring her out of her shocked state and make her do something to save him.

She ran towards him and hurriedly placed a stool beneath his feet. At least now she didn't have to worry about him getting choked.

The half-conscious Jason tried to steady himself on the stool while Elise ran around the room in search of something to cut the rope. Finally her eyes landed on the discarded knife on the bed.

She quickly grabbed it and stood on the bed to cut the rope.
After trying several times, she finally was able to cut it.
Jason fell on the ground with a loud thud. She rushed towards him and tried to make him sit.
Jason's breathing became normal after a while of coughing and wheezing.

"Damn Jason, I need to call Michael and Alex." Elise said after making sure that Jason was better.

She took out her phone and was about to call someone when Jason snatched the phone from her. She looked up to see the blue pair of eyes glaring at her.

"I saved your ass just now, the least you can do is thank me." She said while rolling her eyes and tried taking her phone from him but his grip was still too strong.

"You won't utter a single word about what you saw." He said angrily, his breaths coming out in short pants.

"But you tried to kill yourself. I think your friends would want to know about this." Elise said with an annoyed tone.

"Kill myself?" Jason repeated, with surprise in his voice. After staying silent for a moment or two, he looked at her again.
"Whatever I do is none of their business and it certainly isn't yours and keep your mouth shut." He muttered angrily, though it was all a facade.
"But-"
"If you say anything I'll tell Mike that you have a massive crush on him."
Even though she was angry, his words caused a blush to appear on her face.
"I don't have a crush on him." She kept her eyes down.
"Yeah whatever you say." He rolled his eyes but a small smile was on his face.
"Okay, I won't say anything but only if you promise that you won't do this again."
"I swear I won't."
"And you'll go see a counsellor." She said, with genuine concern in her voice.
"And I'll go see a counsellor." Jason repeated in a mocking tone.
Elise just smiled at him in return.

Jason was amazed by the stupidness of the girl in front of him. How could she believe that he was about to take his own life? He shook his head a bit. No matter how stupid she was, she seemed good for his Mike.

"Anyways I bought you this." Elise said, taking out a shampoo bottle from her bag.
"What's this?" He examined the bottle quizzically.
"Just something to get rid of your pink hair." She winked at him.
"I won't go bald because of this, right?" Jason asked skeptically.
"Come to think of it I should've done that." She replied with a poker-face and rubbed her chin.
"Piss off." He said while chuckling and took it.
"Do you want me to help you in math or not?" She raised her left eyebrow at him.
"Yes but I don't think I've the concentration left for maths. You can go home now." He tried to stand up but was still too unsteady.
"What is that? Do you take drugs?" Elise asked when she saw the half-empty syringe lying on the floor.
"Yes I do. Now get out!" He pushed her towards the door and muttered a little sorry to her.
"Jason!" She was still struggling but now they were out of his room.

"I swear I will tell them everything I saw here including the guys that jumped out of your window when I opened your room door!" Elise shouted.

"What? What did you just say?" Jason stopped dragging her and they both were now standing in the stairs. Why did she do this? Why did she made up that suicide story when she had seen the guys? Why didn't she just ask about it? These questions whizzed by his head but he stopped thinking when she again pulled out her phone.

"I was dumb enough to think that the suicide story will make you tell me everything in your defence." She said while taking out her phone once again

"Hey! Back off! I'm not calling anyone!" She shouted when Jason tried to pull her phone from her hands.
"Damn boy, you have a lot of energy for someone who couldn't stand just a moment ago!" Elise sat in the stairs and hid her phone in her lap.

"Let's talk about it, ok?" Jason sounded different, the kind of different that he didn't think she'll ever see. But right now, there were pressing matters to concern and he needed to hide this from his friends. Even after he had analysed everything with Elise, it didn't look like any burglary attempt or anything of that sort. This was an attempted murder and the question that who tried to murder me kept him up all night.
"Lock your windows and doors when I go." Elise stood up from the stool she was sitting on and opened his room door.
"Thank you." He gave her a genuine smile that was better than all of his stupid grins and fake smiles. She had understood that he didn't want anyone to know about it and wasn't pestering him for more information. She smiled back at him and they both walked out of the room in silence.
"Ring me if you need anything." She said as he opened the front door for her.
"I will. Now go, it's already late." He nodded to assure her and saw her walking out of his house.

Locking the door firmly, he walked back to his room.

*******

Abigail was trying to make a sketch of the classroom door when she saw Jason walking inside. She hurriedly placed her things away as she knew that he would make fun of her if he saw her drawings.

Jason sat on the chair next to her and without saying a word, he took out his notes and started to go through them.

Abigail found this a bit weird, not a bit, it was really weird. Usually, Jason would come late to class and do anything but study.
She was about to comment on his unusual behaviour when she noticed his clothes.

He was wearing a buttoned up shirt and both his arms were covered. She wouldn't have given this much thought but this was Jason, the guy who always had his sleeves rolled up. Even on the coldest days, he rolled his sleeves because the dumbass thinks that it makes him look cool.

Jason raised his hand to scratch his neck and Abigail's eyes followed.
She let out a soft gasp at seeing the angry red marks on his neck.

Jason looked at her surprised face, but cursed under his breath when he saw where Abigail's eyes were focused at.

He quickly got out of the class  and tried to blend in the crowd but unluckily, Abigail was just behind him.
"Jason." She called out.
"Leave me alone." He muttered.
"Not until you tell me what happened." She was still following him.
"Keep your nose to yourself and go to class." He said, getting more annoyed by the second.

"Jason fuckin' Steiner tell me what's wrong or I'm gonna kill you myself." Abigail shouted.
Jason froze hearing these words. Slowly, he turned around to face the angry blue-haired girl.

"Not here. Come with me." He said slowly.
This was enough to make her understand. He grabbed her hand and lead her to an empty classroom that he had the keys for.

Jason made sure to lock the door and then started to pace around her.
"Stop doing that and talk." Abigail said, starting to get impatient.
Jason rubbed his palms on his jeans, took a deep breath and closing his eyes said, "I tried to kill myself."
He waited for a moment to let the shock sink in. He knew there was going to be a slap, a loud gasp or some questions but when nothing came he opened his eyes to see Abigail leaning on the teachers desk and looking at him with a bored expression.

"Yeah, now tell me the truth." She said with the same straight face.
"But this is the truth." Jason said, while rubbing his neck.
"You sure?" She said sarcastically.
"Of course I am." He replied, ignoring the sarcasm.

"Well then roll up your sleeves."

Jason's eyes widened when he heard her say this.
Was it that obvious? No, he was sure about it.
