Six years prior to Azlan's time (so when he was born).
Running past the mountains that divide the Lion's land from the rest of the land, there live another people, strong in culture as the Lions, yet different in almost every way. They live the lives of gatherers and follow a set path every year. These people were known as the Natives. They held a love for the land unlike that of many people, they treasured whatever earth they got and learned how to treat it so that they could give back what they take.
One particular people of the Natives were named the Shires. They were strong, tall, impressive people. Their features were bolder than the mountainous lands they lived on, with icy eyes and sharp jaws. Most had tan to dark brown skin, and many had hair in colors of dark shades.
One of the Shires, a man with broad shoulders, liver brown hair and blue eyes, was riding a stallion of enormous beauty fast as the wind to a destination only he would know. The man's name was Roven, he was the chief of the Shires, and although young, managed to create a tribe of people that worked well together. He was currently riding from a hunt, a deer was slung over the rear of his horse, he arrived to the tipis in a flash of speed and exhilaration.
"I'm back Shantee!" Rove jumped off his horse almost before the beast was still, He slung the deer onto a mat placed near a stream and ran to a large tent not far off up the hill.
The woman named Shantee, was a midwife. She was serving his wife at the moment who was struggling to give birth to Roven's first child.
Eropah was the name of Roven's wife, she was a lass with dark red hair, evenly tan skin and almond eyes. Her brow now was wet with sweat and her breath was labored from the pain of birth. "Oh god is Roven here yet?"
"Yes Eropah, he has arrived right this moment." Shantee replied to the woman. Eropah fell back on the pillows and let out an outrageous scream when she felt her child crowning.
"Almost there one more push and we can see the head!" Shantee encoraged. Roven burst into the tent and took hold of his wife's hands. "I'm here! I'm here!" He whispered breathlessly pressing his lips to her forehead in an affectionate kiss.
"I am going to kill you Roven!"
"What?" Roven was shocked as well as scared at his wife's words. Shantee took a moment to reassure him however. "Women will say outrageous things while giving birth, hell I said I would beat my husband until he would give birth himself..." She shrugged and went back to focusing on the birth.
Half an hour later the child was born.
A boy with tan skin and black hair that was curling around his newborn head. His cries were loud and reassuring to the new parents; but they struggled for a name for the child. Shantee left the family in peace after she had finished washing the child.
"You did amazing Eropah, I am so proud of you for bringing our son into the world." Roven said softly to his wife, he kissed her temple and kissed the child as well. The baby cooed and both parents were silent with love for a moment. The moment passed and Roven looked to his wife expectantly, "Well? What shall we name him?"
"Something that brings light..." Eropah wondered aloud. Her eyes misted over when she gazed at her son. Her bond with him was stronger than anything Roven had seen in his life, and he felt pride and honor at having helped with such a creation. "Perhaps like a flame?"
"No... stronger. He is the son of a chief, I want his name to reflect that. Something like a Blaze."
" Blaze? Well, I'm not so sure." Roven responded, "Maybe if we change it up a bit."
" How about... Blitz?" Eropah offered. Roven picked up his son into his arms. "Yes, Blitz. It suits him my love."
*a few years later and a few more edits*
Welp... it's been over a year and I fixed it up a bit... hopefully it is easier to read and a ton more fun as well. *gulps* I really do hate how I phrased the first version... Nothing in there had a tie to the story itself, and a lot of the information was not valuable. So when I re-write the other chapters I will be doing the same thing as I did here.
*coughs and begins to read a list*
I will:
- Re-read in context of my knowledge of what is to come.
- take away useless details
- make it easier to read and easier to remember
- try to make it more fun and less aggravating to read
- utilize my knowledge to change a few scenes for the better
- change whatever else should be fixed
*nods satisfied* Thank you sooooo much for reading!!
