AMBER RAIN:

"All good times must come to an end. Sometimes the end is deadly."

He stood so close to me. In just a few strides he was suited right in front of me because of his dangerously long legs. I could feel the quick spurts of air coming from his nostrils, he was angry. Infuriated. I could see how he was trying to remain as calm as possible by the quick clenching and unclenching of his jaw. His fists balled tightly down by his sides.

"What about?" I asked carelessly as I met his eyes. I knew I should've nodded instead, hell I should've bent down to the ground and begged for mercy from him. But something inside of me wasn't going to give in to this vile creature in front of me. I wasn't going to give him the pleasure of knowing he could get to me by giving me cold glares and clenched jaws.

After my comment I heard gulps release from the bulkiest of men around the room. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw some of their eyes go wide and even Shadow mumbled an 'oh shit'.

Caden felt disrespected. Oops.

He hastily grasped my chin between his cold fingers, forcing my neck to arch at an unusual, uncomfortable angle. "What have we talked about regarding your tongue, Amber." He spit before letting go harshly.

"That I don't need it, Mr.Moretti." I replied in a mocking town as if I was a prudish school girl. Instantly I saw his eyes darken further. He was so close to snapping. Do it.

I could feel Dylan's loose grip loosen even more as I called Caden by his surname.

Don't worry, Dylan, I'm not going to rat you out.

"Who the fuck told you that." He seethed. His teeth bared.

I blinked.

Caden growled before breaking our eye contact, turning towards Dylan. "Dylan, let her go and get back to your post. Grazie per l'aiuto." He hissed, glaring at me again.

"Yes boss." He complied while letting go of my wrists and heading back outside through the huge doors.

Caden leaned forward and grabbed my already sore wrists tightly and lifted his head up to examine the room. "I want you always guarding the hall where our guest" he shot me a look. "will be staying and a full check up every hour." He ordered. I couldn't see to who but I could take a guess.

"Nooo!" Shadow drawled out childishly. "I don't want to babysit that bitçh! Put Marino on it." I heard Shadow's groan. I heard a coat crinkling and assumed he crossed his arms. "You know I have more important matters to tend to, then runners."

"I'm aware. But right now this is your new priority. I trust you more than anyone else in this room." He rudely directed, his hand gesturing to the room to prove his point with more emphasis.

The two glared at each other.

Nothing was said for about a long minute. Then I heard Shadow sigh. "Alright, but if I get contacted for a new target, I'm sending Marino up for the bitch-sitting." He complied with hurtful words. I craned my neck to look at him. I shot him a cold look. When he saw, he sent me a fake smile.

I want to punch him in the dick so hard right now.

"Whatever." Caden finished before turning back to me. "Now, come with me." He growled before pulling me away from the steps and through the room of huge men. "Get back to work!" Instantly the room was off pause.

I turned back to look for Dylan. I was hoping he'd be around to mouth some reassuring words. Instead, I saw Shadow leaning against the railings. His mouth set in a conniving smirk. He pulled up his hand and gave me a little wave. I flipped him off with my left hand. He rose a dark eyebrow in amusement before disappearing up the staircase.

I turned back to Moretti and tried to match his steps. His long legs moved so fast that I almost stumbled a few times as he led me through another hallway that I hadn't seen before.

The walls were the color of a dark wine and empty of any portraits, unlike the other hallways I've seen. As we made our way away from the busy sector and into the abandoned area, I felt a load of dread being dropped into my chest.

I look of worry spread across my face as I quietly walked behind the boss.

"Wipe the look of terror off your face, Amber." He spoke assertively from in front of me. He didn't even turn his head and look at me.

I guess all his victims got more
sacred when walking down this soundless corridor.

Maybe I was overreacting? Ah shit no I'm not. How many nineteen year olds are out in this situation?

"That's easy for you to say." I harshly spit. "You're not the one who lost everything in a few hours." I mumbled the last part while looking down.

He stopped suddenly, almost causing me to run into his stiff backside.

Before I could comprehend what he was doing, I got slammed up against the wall violently. His large hand wrapped around my frail neck tightly and his eyes dark with anger.

"You need to watch what you keep saying, Amber. I'm trying my very best to avoid killing you only because you're worth something. Pity, I know. But you know nothing about me. So watch it." He seethed before letting me drop to the ground with strained coughs. What the hell? I had only known who he was for about an hour but he had frightening mood swings.

I grabbed my throat as Caden grabbed me up again and continued down the hallway. We appeared in front of a painted black door. Caden dug some keys out of his pockets and used a silver one to unlock it.

The door opened with a eery noise and cold air flooded every inch of my sweaty body. The room was encased in complete dark, I even squinted to see if I could see some type of furniture. Nothing.

Caden looked at me with new-found excitement dancing around in his eyes. I stepped back.

"I do not want to go in there." I stated with a shake of my head. I didn't know what was in there. There could be bear traps or corpses or even worse. . . roaches. Hey, ask me to kill a spider, no biggy. Tell me there is a roach in my bathroom and I will burn the whole fucking house down.

"Oh, well then I guess we can. . ." he said with mock-consideration. He placed his hand on his head. "Wait! I don't give a fuck about what you want." He deadpanned before using his arm to throw me into the room.

I landed a tad bit ungracefully on my side. I turned back to see the door slamming. Everything went black. I almost screamed out but stopped when the lights switched on and Caden was in front of me.

Even though he's the worse, I would rather have him in here than be alone.

I turned and examined the room. It was a lot smaller than the other rooms I had been in. The walls and floor were cement with large cracks running through them. Dust bunnies had formed in the corners and four lightbulbs hung down from the roof.

I checked over my shoulder and only saw a small metal chair. Against the back wall, I noticed there were black hooks embedded in the wall. Thick ropes, metal chains, black gloves, and bandannas were suited along each one.

"You're probably going to start asking  questions now." Caden started with a large eye roll. My lips parted in worry. "Yes, this is the room you will go to if you piss me off. No, you will not be sleeping in here. Am I putting you in here right now? Maybe, maybe not." He grinned menacingly. "I can't tell you what will happen if you get put in here. It'll ruin the surprise. And finally, there are no roaches in here. But, I won't refrain from putting a few in here if you don't start watching your bitchy tongue around me." He quickly answered my thoughts.

My jaw must've unhinged itself. By the cocky / psychotic smirk against his lips, he'd got his intended effect.

"Oh," He chuckled. "Got nothing to say now, Amber." Caden started to circle me as shivers ran down my spine from his icy tone.

"How'd you know about the roaches?" I quietly questioned as he disappeared from my view.

I felt his warm breath latch on to my right earlobe. "I did my research on you." He breathed erotically. "Thoroughly."

I turned my neck and looked at Caden slowly. His dark hair had fallen onto his forehead, he had slight stubble running across the lower part of his face. I noticed he was unusually pale for an Italian. But I was definitely not going to bring that up in this circumstance.

"Come now," he stepped in front of me again. "I'll show you what room you'll be staying in." He divulged before flipping the light switch again.

I hurried out of the room to avoid him changing his mind about putting me in there right now.

"Wait. . .I get a room? At this house?" I asked slowly, I was surprised.

He slowed down his steps slightly. He took a deep breath. "Believe it or not: My goal isn't to kill you. What happened wasn't your fault. But I need your help and that is why you're here. You're not one of my victims."

That made my eyebrows raise past my hairline. What? He doesn't want to kill me? I felt relief from that. What happened to him? My help? I opened my mouth to ask what he meant.

"I'm not going to tell you anything right now, Miss Rain. I can take a good guess that many questions are probably running through that little head of yours. I'm not answering any of them." He stated with annoyance.

"We are never going to be friends. I don't ever have to tell you anything and I don't want you running your mouth around me." He finished before walking again.

I almost wanted to laugh out loud. Friends? Who said anything about that? I did have questions but that doesn't mean it would make us 'friends' if he were to answer some of them.

I wasn't aware of how much we walked during his sentences, but we ended up in front of a white door with a golden knob.

"This will be your room. Don't leave this room until you are directed so. I will have Shadow checking up on you frequently and watching this hall. You may be smart but no one can outsmart him."

I almost laughed out loud, thinking back to kicking Shadow down to his knees after a kick to his sensitive place.

Caden leaned in close. "I heard what happened between you two. This time his orders will be different. Make one wrong move and. . ." He made a throat cutting gesture with his index finger before chuckling.

Shiiit.

Moretti unlocked the door and held it open with his long arm. "Feel free to take a shower. You smell disgusting. Absolutely repulsive."

I scowled before walking in. Caden slammed the door behind me. I heard keys jingle and he locked me in. I was alone at last.

I took in my surroundings and gasped.

The room I was in put the other beautifully decorated rooms to shame. It had a plush white carpet lined out along the floor. The walls were painted in a gold color. A huge crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling in the middle of the spacious bedroom. A king sized bed was decorated with a silky white duvet and gold pillows. I could see where the bathroom was. I noticed a mini fridge under the large white vanity. There were dark wooden cabinets that contrasted well with the rooms lighter colors. They were flawlessly crafted. Thick gold curtains were tied together in front of two large glass windows that seemed to lead outside onto a balcony that could potentially overlook the mansion.

The room was absolutely catalogue ready. It was the dream room. I would've been overjoyed by the fact that I could stay in it despite the fact that I was being held hostage inside of it.

Instead of being ecstatic, I could only feel dread. This was just an illusion. It wasn't my room it was my cage.

I leaned back against the door slowly and shut my eyes. Sun streamed in through the glass windows. I had only been gone for half a day! So much has happened today that I could believe it hadn't been a year.

People had to notice I was missing soon. Right? Surely the school would notify my parents about my absences?

I didn't know how many connections Caden had though. Dylan mentioned he is a powerful man. I mean he was part of the freaking Mafia. The boss of the Mafia!

I sunk down to the floor slowly as the thoughts kept piling up. I closed my eyes and tried to breathe.

Everything is going to be alright Amber. You'll get through this.

I kept repeating that line through my head, hoping to calm my nerves. But in reality I didn't believe it at all.
