Pallet Town, a quaint little town situated in the southern part of Kanto was a peaceful little place.

This was the home of the Kanto regional professor Samuel Oak. This town was not much of an attraction, just a normal, quiet, quaint, but peaceful town where new trainers begin their adventures after getting their starters from Professor Oak.

The sun was just rising above the hills and the first rays of sunlight just struck the earth. In a house, upper floor bedroom, on the bed there laid a little boy snoring softly, sleeping peacefully...

...But not for long.

"WAKEEEE UPPPP ASHYYYYYYY!! BREAKFAST IS READY!!", Yelled a high pitched feminine voice...Ash jolted awake on bed...wait! Scratch that! He fell down from the bed by the sheer loudness of the voice...

"Uhhhhh" The 6 year old spiky black haired boy groaned as he rubbed his head which hurt from falling down the bed...

Oh mummy, can you be any louder? The boy thought to himself. His mum was almost noble prized for having the BEST pair of lungs and voice box on the planet...almost.

The boy stretched his arms and legs and got down the stairs after brushing and doing his morning routine.

He dressed up in his usual attire of a blue jacket over a white shirt with black pants and went into the dining room.

"Good morning mum" Ash greeted his mother. Delia smiled, "Morning Ashy!"

"So Ashy do you know what day it is?" Delia asked. Ash shrugged, "Maybe...Ahh yes. Today is the day we visit Professor Oak's laboratory and his pokemon"

Delia smiled, "Yup! Are you excited? You will be visiting my workplace with your classmates!"

Ash smiled back...it was one of his rare smiles...he was a quiet boy, if a little cold and reserved. After his dad abandoned his little family of himself and his mother, it was like he forgot to smile...He completely immersed himself in his studies on pokemon to learn everything he can before beginning his pokemon journey at the age of 13. He wanted to learn everything before be hit the age of 13. To become the greatest there ever was. To even surpass his father. To show him how wrong he was to leave them.

And that's why Ash was kind of an...outcast among his classmates because he was not the most sociable person around. Ash would prefer to stay at home and study on pokemon habitats rather than go play in the park...like normal children his age are supposed to. But Ash was not normal. He was ANYTHING but NORMAL!

His deepest, darkest secret...not even his own mother knew. He could speak with pokemon. Yes, he discovered this ability 2 years ago when a Ratata stole his lunch.

Since then, he told NO ONE! Of this. NO ONE!

Ash would spend more time playing and hanging with the native pokemon near Pallet Town rather than his peers. That's why his classmates avoided him. But still, Ash had friends...well only one friend. Her name was Leaf Green. She was a pretty little girl of 6 just like him...While Ash was cold, reserved and smart she was his exact polar opposite. Outgoing, a little stupid and...a loudmouth. Man...why do both of my closest people have such pair of lungs?...He sometimes wondered. But anyway, Leaf was a very cheery girl. She was Ash's only and best friend. But...unknown to Ash...the girl had a...thing...for him. Since the beginning.

Leaf liked Ash because of his ability to blend in with Pokemon. At the academy they went to together Ash was one of the smartest person around...But for some weird reason he kept it secret. Only Leaf knew.

So that's most of his school life...Oh WAIT! There was another thing. Ash was the target of a bunch of bullies led by Professor Oak's grandson, Gary Oak...But the bullies never succeeded. Ash could communicate with Pokemon so whenever Gary tried to bully him any wild pokemon near Ash would come to his help.

Today, the academy was supposed to go on a tour to Professor Oak's lab...where his mother worked as an aide.

So the spiky black haired boy with blue eyes got his backpack and left for school after breakfast. (AN: Yes I made his eyes blue...The reason you all will get later on)

–-–-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"HI ASSHHYYYY!!!!" Came the familiar loud voice from behind Ash...Ash winced at the volume before he was tackled from behind by Leaf...

Leaf hugged Ash from behind...Twitches formed everywhere on Ash's face by the flirty, loudmouth Leaf...

"Leafy...get off" Ash said evenly. She pouted, "Aww Ashy doesn't want his Leaf close to him...I'm hurt..." She wiped away some fake tears...

His eyebrows twitched violently, Ash sighed, "Troublesome best friends..." (AN : In another faraway parallel universe of Naruto, a certain pineapple black haired boy sneezed)

Leaf let go of Ash and smiled cheerily, "Ashy aren't you excited?! It's our first time visiting Professor Oak's lab!"

Ash smiled back, "Yeah...I can imagine all the Pokemon and books there already..."

Lead involuntarily palmed her face and internally raged...Her secret crush just HAD to be THAT oblivious. Would it hurt too much just to say for once that he'd love to go there with her?

"HAH! That's all you can imagine loser! My grandpa has the best pokemon and that place is not for losers like you!" Came the boisterously loud voice of Gary Oak mockingly...

Ash waved at him uncaringly, "Hi Gary...Not nice to meet you too..."

Leaf snickered at the lazy uncaring attitude as Gary fumed...Ash had learnt since childhood that the best way to irritate arrogant bastards was to ignore them...

Soon the classroom door opened and the teacher entered, "Hello children, as you may already know we are visiting Oak's lab. Please pack your belongings and assemble near the academy gates by 10:00 AM"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wwwwwoooowwwww" Said the collective voices of the all the 6 year old academy students as they saw the massive and magnificent Oak's lab and ranch.

"HAH! That's MY grandpa what did you expect?!" Yelled out the boisterously loud voice of Gary Oak.

"Ahh It seems you all are here! Good! Lets begin the tour!" Said Professor Oak with a smile seeing all the excited children...His vision stopped on one particular boy...he had spiky black hair and bright azure eyes...His face didn't speak much...A perfect poker face but his eyes spoke volumes...His eyes were darting from Pokemon to Pokemon in the ranch, watching each and every movement of the Pokemon...He was observing...very carefully observing Samuel must add.

So that's Delia's son eh?...Thought the old Professor...Such watching and observing skills along with the poker face, not a feat many can manage of his age. He will be a thing to watch for once he becomes a trainer. Just like HIM...Thought the old professor bitterly.

"Very well children! Let the adventure begin!!" Cheered the old Professor along with the children.

Oak took the children firstly to show them the habitat of grass pokemon...Once again he took a glance at all the children. All of them were busy ogling and 'wow'-ing the grass Pokemon.

Particularly one girl...Leaf Green was her name...She was playing with a Bulbasaur. While she was cooing and playing and coddling it, the boy just beside her...the same boy, Ash Ketchum...was observing, he was watching every movement of the Bulbasaur and Leaf...Bulbasaur wanted Leaf to play tag with it so I started to run, and it ran...FAST...Leaf was chasing the VERY fast Bulbasaur...and failing miserably...

Suddenly Ash's eyes shot wide...He turned to Professor with a questioning look...The Professor smiled, already knowing what he was about to ask...

"Professor Oak, by any chance does that Bulbasaur have Chlorophyll ability?" Ash asked the unasked question...Oak smiled happily...He was about to say something when his spoiled grandson Gary spoke, "HAH! YOU LOSER! We all know Bulbasaur have ability Overgrow! What can we expect from a loser like you anyway!"

Ash just ignored him...the old professor spoke, "Ash is absolutely correct Gary. That Bulbasaur is special. He was bred to have Chlorophyll as ability...Although..." Oak looked at Ash with a curious look.

Ash didn't budge under the gaze...

"I would be curious how you know such thing outside academy syllabus?" Oak asked.

Ash shrugged, "I just picked it up from mum..." Ash lied. He had actually read it in a book...along with many other things...

Oak saw through the white lie but didn't push it further...Soon the girl Leaf stopped chasing the Bulbasaur and started to pant....

"*pant**pant*That...*huff**puff* was...something...*pant*" She spoke...Just as she was about to fall down panting her secret crush Ash caught her...

"You are...utterly, butterly hopeless and stupid" Ash shook his head and picked her up on his back.

She blushed up a storm and the professor and other girls looked at them with amused expressions...that was the PERFECT blackmail material...

"Sh-Shut it! Th-That Bulbasaur was a speed demon!" She said with an embarrassed look.

Then her face turned her normal flirty one, "Aww Ashy if you wanted to be close to me you just could have asked you know? But I am happy...Hehe" She giggled and snuggled into his neck...

Ash's eyebrows twitched and a tick mark formed on his forehead...Oak didn't say anything just kept an amused smile on his face...

Oak led them to the next place...The Psychic Pokemon enclosure...Ash found his mum there. Working with her Mr. Mime and Gardevoir...

Ash's mother looked at him with a teasing grin seeing Leaf on his back...Leaf blushed and Ash's eyes almost pleaded 'This is not what it looks like'

Ash's mother turned to all other children, "Hello children, as you may know I am Delia Ketchum, this is the Psychic Pokemon enclosure, I work here. Psychic pokemon are very interesting creatures..." Delia went to explain and give a short speech on Psychic Pokemon.

Ash didn't listen because he already knew...His mother after all owned 2 of them. He had enough info on Psychic Pokemon. Ash just keenly observed the Abra and Ralts inside the enclosure...

He put down Leaf much to her dismay and went ahead to get close to a Ralts, the emotion Pokemon...

The Ralts trilled happily as Ash petted it.

"Hi Ralts I am Ash, it is nice to meet you..." Ash greeted it. The Ralts trilled again...It translated to, 'Hi Ash! I am Ralts! You smell like Delia! Are you related to her?'

'Yup! She is my mother!' Ash replied in the tongue of Pokemon...'Oh I see - WAIT WHAT HOW IN THE NAME OF QUEEN PSYCHICS MEW DID YOU UNDERTAND ME?!'

'Haha, I am just a little special! Wanna be friends?' Ash asked, the Ralts trilled happily and nodded, the Ralts then leaned in and whispered, 'You do know that, that girl likes you?'

'Can you please NOT feel emotions for just once?!' Ash pleaded with a light blush...The Ralts laughed.

Their bonding was interrupted by the Professor Oak, "Looks like you have made a friend Ash..."

Ash maintained his cold poker face, "Yes. Ralts seems like good Pokemon...We were just getting acquainted with each other"

The old professor smiled, "Good! Good...Now Ash, I noticed that you were observing the Psychic Pokemon very closely as Delia was giving her speech" Ash's face turned a LITTLE sheepish, Oak continued, "Anyway...Tell me what exactly did you observe that is common in psychic pokemon?"

Ash thought for a moment, "Nothing much...but pokemon who are PURELY, psychic generally have frail bodies or weak defense...That translates to lower physical attack and defense while having high special attack and special defense along with speed...some exceptions are those psychics who was just half psychics in nature...like a Gallade, or a Medicham who also have good physical attack and defense due for being part fighting type"

The old professor laughed, "I knew it! My boy, you are more advanced than you should be...and why did you lie to me before about that your mum told you about the Bulbasaur?"

Ash shifted uncomfortably, "It's...nothing"

Oak smiled, "I know you are a lot smarter than you let on Ash...But if that's what you choose to be, I will not be nosy...But...I want to offer you something...It would be sad to let such talent go to waste..."

Ash brightened, "What professor?"

"I will let you a free access to my lab, library and to observe pokemon if you agree to help me feed and take care of pokemon in the ranch and occasionally help your mother..."

Ash's jaw dropped?! IS THIS A DREAM?! Ash pinched himself to check it, then Ash lunged forward and hugged Oak, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!"

Oak smiled and patted the boy on the head.

That was the day that an aspiring youth took his first steps towards becoming a pokemon master.

DONE! First chapter is completed. Well...I don't have much to say except for to stay safe in this outbreak and read and review so that I can improve the standard of this story. And don't be shy to point out my mistakes. I will correct them as soon as possible. Bye.
