Ariana watched the footage again or rather she tried watching it but it was a bust with what was going through her mind.

Ariana sighed for the umpteenth time. She needed to be immune to his charms but there she was at four-fifty-six in the morning trying to do her work but she couldn't seem to. He probably keeps a lot of women up at night thinking of him and she hated to be one of them.

She felt her chest tighten at the thought of that and she shook the thoughts out of her head. She needed to get a few hours of sleep in so she could function better. She shut down her laptop and placed it on the bedside table. Pulling the blanket, she went to sleep.

She would have to deal with being immune to his charms. Or fake being immune.

Sleep came quickly as her head cleared.

Ariana stood in front of the window, her favourite spot in his house. The view was so much better at night though; it almost felt like the city lights and the stars meshed and became one galaxy. Right then, the view was just as great with the sun rising, the outside pool shimmered as the sunlight hit it.

"Let's get going Green." Jace walked through the kitchen to the living area and didn't stop to get a cup of coffee like he usually did.

"Yes sir." Ariana turned around and headed out before him both ignoring each other.

Jace was behind Ariana and he frowned slightly when he saw her heading towards her bike.
"Green? What are doing?"

"Getting on my bike," She stated the obvious, "I have things to take care of."

"Marvis can take you anywhere you need to go,"

"I'm perfectly capable of taking myself anywhere I need to go. Thank you." She gave him a death glare when he was about to utter something else and he stopped and sighed.

She noticed his tired eyes and a part of her was glad that she wasn't the only one who'd had a sleepless night.

"Fine." Jace headed towards the car.

Ariana turned on the engine and put her helmet on, she revved before taking off without a care in the world. She hadn't been on her bike for a couple of days and she'd almost forgotten the feeling of being free.

Ariana headed to the company first to make sure there wasn't another surprise waiting for him. She parked her bike at the entrance and took off her helmet then made her way into the company building.

"Can you look after my bike for a few minutes, I'll be right back." She told the familiar-looking security guard who stood at the entrance.

He nodded and she gave him a curt nod before she headed towards the elevator. She arrived at the fortieth floor and stepped out and then headed towards his office passing Bridget's desk on the way, who was around yet. She entered his office and checked everywhere before heading back out towards the elevator again.

Just as she arrived in front of the elevator about to push the button, the elevator opened up and Bridget stepped out.

"Is he around?" She asked, looking frightened,

"No. I'm just early," Ariana said, "I have to get going. I'll be back after lunch."

"Everything alright?" She asked, concerned

"Yea. Work-related," Ariana got into the elevator, "See you later."

"Yea." She headed towards her desk just as the elevator closed.

Ariana stepped out of the elevator and headed through the lobby towards the exit. She stopped short when she saw him making his way into the building and then resumed walking. Jace was heading towards the elevator when he looked up and saw her.

"Thought you had somewhere to be," he said as the distance between them closed.

"I do," Ariana didn't bother stopping for chitchat.

She headed to the exit and thanked the doorman before she hopped on her bike, helmet on, and then headed straight to the Bureau.

Ariana walked into the bureau and scanned her badge on the way in before heading towards the elevator hoping not to run into any familiar faces.

"Agent Feilman."

Ariana turned around to find one of the security guys scanning the badges heading towards her.
"Yes?"

"The director wants to see you."

How does he know I'm in the building?
She nodded and stepped into the elevator.

She stepped off on the seventh floor, walking past all the boring brown wooden cubicles and heading straight ahead towards the back.

Arriving at his office, she knocked.

"Come in Agent."

"You asked to see me." Ariana walked in and shut the door behind her.

"Yes. Any particular reason you're here?"

"I need Agent Beck to go through the footage from Mr. Black's office."

"The night of the trash."

"Yes sir."

He nodded.
"I'll hand it to Agent Beck after I've seen it."

"Of course, Director." Ariana placed the drive on his table and turned to leave.

"Feilman?" He called before she reached the door.

Ariana turned to look at him.

"I know you've been given the full story."

The truth is more befitting.

"This job is very important because it involves someone I see as part of my family. I'll advise you not to get emotionally attached to the job or to the person in question. If you do, you'll be risking everything and I don't want to lose my best agent," He said, "Be careful out there. These guys are more dangerous because they have nothing to be afraid of, even getting killed."

Silence.

"Thank you, Director." Ariana said before she walked out of his office.

She sighed when she got into the elevator heading towards the ground floor.

I'll advise you not to get emotionally attached to the job or to the person in question. You'll be risking everything.

Those words replayed in her head as she stepped out of the elevator heading towards the exit.

"Grande."

Ariana stopped and smiled before she turned around to see her team heading towards her.
"Hey boys."

"Were you leaving without stopping by to say hi?" Scoot asked,

"You know I don't do small talk."

They stopped in front of her,
"Are you going to tell us what the Director has you on?" Killjoy, Killian asked,

"Not if you want me to bore you to death."

"That boring, uhm?" Bob asked,

"Just not as fun as our assignment," Ariana said, "Which by the way, how's that going?"

"Case was closed just last night." Shaggy said,

Ariana smiled,
"You got those bastards."

"No other ending." Scoot said, "When would you be joining us again?"

"I have no idea," Ariana said, "This new assignment is rather unpredictable. No meetings or heists to bust. It's teaching me patience."

"And you need that." Bob said,

"No, what I need is to be out on the field."

"Want to grab something to eat?" Shaggy said,

"Another time, maybe." She smiled, "See you boys around?"

"See ya." They said before she turned around and headed out of the bureau.

Ariana hopped on her bike and as she put her helmet on, she knew she didn't want to head straight back to the company so she went for a ride to the quietest place she could think of. One of the other places she spent most of her time when she wasn't with her mum.

Her dad.

Ariana arrived at the national cemetery fifteen minutes later. Her dad had gotten a Military funeral, even though he wasn't killed in combat.

Ariana walked through the black gates and down the paved path past thousands of similar headstones. The plot was big and all the white marble headstones were lined up on green grass. She stepped away from the path and onto the grass then walked down to a place that was etched in her heart. Ariana stopped in front of his headstone which read:

First Lieutenant Adam Feilman.
Husband and Father.
Loved and Respected.
Will remain unforgotten.

"Hey dad," Ariana bent down and kneeled on the damp grass. "It's been a little while, sorry about that. Mum's fine. Nothing's changed. I still don't know why it's taking so long for her to come out of the coma."

Ariana inhaled, then placed her palm flat on her thigh.
"I got my first personal assignment as a bodyguard. Well, that's my undercover job. It's different working alone, feels like old times," She looked down at her nails, "I honestly wish you could tell me what to do, dad. I have this weird feeling; I can't explain it. I feel...different when he's around."

Ariana let out a breath slowly having said that out loud,
"I don't know why and what is happening. Please tell me what to do."

"He would if he could talk to you."

Ariana knew that voice. She smiled and turned around to look at him.
"Hi, Walter."
