As we walked through the hallway, I had this bad feeling about someone watching us. Which was pretty crazy, but you never know. There was a large doorway which seemed to have some kind of crest at the top. I brush off the strange feeling, going into the next room with Frisk.

There was another Buttercup, but it's.. bigger and moving... There aren't any wind currents here, and it's oddly suspicious that the plant is shrouded in a spotlight of the rays of the sun.

Then life decides to be weird and make the plant turn around with a face. Frisk found it cute, by the looks of it. I just found it straight up creepy.

"Well, Howdy! I'm Flowey, Flow—" It paused and thought at the sight of us. "Flowey the Flower.." This 'Flowey' figure had sort of an accent to it's voice.. like a cowboy. The black rectangular slits in its face for eyes.. just doesn't.. look normal to me. It's creepy.. Like they're staring into my soul, observing me...

"There's two of you, correct? Or am I seeing double..?" Flowey squints, examining us further. Frisk doesn't seem to mind, though. ... "uh.. Yeah. There's two of us." I speak hesitantly.

"Okay then.. anyways.. You two are new around here, arent'cha? Well, I guess I should show you the basics." The room turned black and white, and as if I was playing a video game, stats and a white box with two different colored hearts appeared. "Frisk, do you see this?" I look in her direction. "Yeah.. woah.. Like that one game we played.... what was it?" "Earthbound?" "Yeah, Earthbound.." Frisk examined the buttons and lights.

"See that heart? That's your SOUL, the very culmination of your being! Umm.. Try moving them to see which is yours." I stared at the light PINK pixelized heart, mortified at the thought that if it was mine... Frisk was definitely moving the red one, so Yes. My nightmares have come true. I tried moving it with my mind. Didn't work. 'Go right!' Nope. 'Twirl!?' Nothing. 'MOVE, SLAVE!' I thought, staring intensely at the certain-colored soul. Before I tried touching it, Flowey intervened.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You don't just TOUCH a soul!! That's like.. your heart-er Ugh. Basically, If you touch a soul, or another's soul, it can get.. umm... weird? S-sorry, I'm not very good at explaining these kinda things." Flowey blushed(?) at the word. What? Weird? How the hell does touching pixels become WEIRD?! Frisk just giggled, knowing what he meant.

"Frisk, uh, How do you get it to move? Mine is somehow... stubborn...?" I stare in awe as her soul is doing flips and turns like a little acrobat. "You need to control it with your heart, sis. Not the mind, not anything else." "My heart? But.. that is my heart. I don't get it.."

"Your SOUL starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV." LV? Probably stands for level.. "What's LV stand for? Why, LOVE, of course!" What?! LOVE??

"You want some LOVE, don't you? Don't worry, I'll share some with you." He had that... look on his face.. I believe that we are being tricked into something... and that is a Strong belief...

He winked, accompanied by a tongue. Like one of those emojis on Messenger. "Down here, LOVE is shared through... little white... 'friendliness pellets'." White dots appeared around him. He looked very suspicious saying 'friendliness pellets'. Should I trust him? "Frisk, I don't think we should trust hi—" "Are you ready? Move around, get as many as you can!" The 'friendliness pellets' aimed at our souls, and went straight for them. Frisk's soul was able to dodge them all easily, while mine just stayed put. I screwed my eyes shut, bracing for the impact. Before a single pellet could touch it though, it shined very, Very bright.

The pellets vanished. Into thin air. "What?! How did you..." I was very surprised myself, while Frisk was just beaming at me.

"Hmm... That's a very powerful SOUL you got there, buddy." "It is?" I stared at the pixelized light pink heart. "And do you know what monsters would do to get a soul like yours?" He smirked, giving me that feeling again. That something's not right.

"They'd KILL for a soul like that, kid. So.. Me being a monster and all...." He chuckled deeply, a circle of pellets closing in on Frisk's and my soul. "Taking TWO souls would be fine by me aswell!" He laughed maniacally, the space to move getting tighter.

A fireball came out of nowhere, blasting Flowey in his little face and sending him to the wall. A goat-like creature had wisps coming out of their hands, so the shot was probably from them.

"What a horrible creature, torchuring such poor innocent youths.. Do not be afraid, children. I shall not hurt you. My name is Toriel, Keeper of these Ruins. What might be yours?" It's a she, wearing a long purple dress with a blue patch in the middle. There was that crest again...

"I'm (Y/n) and this is my sister Frisk." Frisk nodded, smiling. "What nice names.. well, come along. I must guide you through the catacombs." She turned around and went into a purple doorway at the end of the room. Something about her voice and her caring, motherly nature tells me that we should trust her. We followed her into another purple-bricked room, red leaves lining it. Frisk ran to one of the leaf piles, whispering something and walked up to the stairs. I followed, but what did Frisk do?

~•~•~•~

So, Toriel explained a bunch of puzzles to us while traversing through the Ruins, taught us how to ACT when we encountered a monster, and we almost ended up breaking one of the puzzles because Someone wouldn't stop playing with the switch. Then when we got to a bigger room, and surely enough there was another puzzle, but Toriel ended up giving us the answer and guiding us through it because it was "too dangerous".

Frisk was quiet the whole time... what's she thinking about? Well.. she only really ever gets talkative when talking to me...

We got to a long, long corridor. "Children, I must let you take one final test.. and.. Please forgive me for this but.. You must get to the end of this hallway without my help. I am sorry." She started running very fast, for a monster.

We both started running as fast as we could, trying to keep up, when she darted around a corner and we lost sight of her. But this is just a straight hallway, there are no corners. We see a big pillar in the distance.

"Toriel?" I call out, getting closer to the end of the room.

When we reach the pillar, she comes out of her hiding spot.

"Do not worry, my children. I was just behind this pillar, I did not leave you." I sighed of relief, thinking of what would have happened if Frisk got hurt and no one would be around to take care of her.

"This was a test of independence, for I cannot stay with you all the time. I have some business to attend to, and I must leave you for a while. Umm.. Here. Take this CELL PHONE. Theres only one, though.. so you can call me if you need anything. You must remain here. Farewell, children." We waved goodbye, thankful now that we have means of communication.
