My eyes fluttered open, but I felt strange.

The last thing I remembered was typing in the coordinates for Earth, but then the cryo-function on the escape pod kicked in, and I passed out. I guess it was for safety measures, but it brought back some unfortunate memories.

Sittin up slowly, I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hand in exhaustion. Once my vision cleared up, I realized where I was.

"Peter..." I whispered under my breath, admiring my old room.

How did he find me? I don't remember even making it to Earth, and somehow I ended up back where I was hoping to be. Even the feel of the blankets on top of me made me filled with nostalgia.

Everything was just as I left it... and I thought that was wonderful.

Slowly getting out of bed, I began to run my fingers along whatever I could. I missed all of this. I really, really missed all of it. Cracking open the door, I peeked into the hallway in interest.

There was no one here.

"Peter?" I called out, ducking my head into the rooms, "hello?"

I was alone in the house, and that was a little unsettling. Nearing the kitchen, I popped open the fridge to see if there was anything inside. There was, but it was just cheese.

As I turned around, a tiny yellow post-it note caught my eye. It was stuck on the fridge, with chicken scratch written in black sharpie.

Went to grab groceries! Will be back soon!

Oh, he must have been out.

I don't know why that bothered me, but maybe it was a mixture of two things. One, I didn't like that he saw me before I could see him, and two, I just really wanted to see him in general. I wanted to wake up and realize he was there next to me.

But I guess that was too much to ask, especially since I was the one who left him.

Rushing back into my room, I slid open the window and began to swing myself outside. Climbing up to the rooftop, I landed my feet on the ground in satisfaction, stretching my arms above my head. I just wanted to watch the sky from here.

Walking to the center of the complex, I laid on my back and began to stare at the rosy atmosphere. It was funny how I had seen the sky from both sides now, and yet this view was better. Maybe it was because I was looking at the same sky Peter was.

"Was the bed not comfortable enough?"

My head shot to the side when I heard that voice, and I locked eyes with a familiar brown-haired boy. He looked.... Amazing. Really freaking amazing. Gosh, I wanted nothing more than to hold him close to me. For an hour. For forever.

"Hey," I smiled softly, sitting up, "it's you."

He walked over to me, not breaking eye contact, "it's you."

Frick, I couldn't get over how different he looked. His hair was curlier, his jawline more firm, and his lips were rosier. He was beautiful.

"I'm so sorry, Peter," I began to say, "I'm sorry I left, and I'm sorry--"

"Don't speak," he said, kneeling down in front of me, and wrapping his arms around me, "I just want to hug you."

Nodding my head, I pressed him closer to me in desperation. I needed to be next to him. I needed to feel like there was no more space left between us. He smelled like lavender, and daisies, and every lovely flower there ever was, and I loved every part of it.

After what felt like hours, he pulled away hesitantly, "where have you been?"

"It's a long story," I started.

"Brooklyn? California?" he guessed, "I looked everywhere, and you weren't here."

"I was in space."

"What?"

"I left with Thor," I laughed, "we've been planet-skipping this whole time."

"Oh..." he nodded, "that explains the spaceship you came in."

"I thought you were supposed to be a genius," I teased, running my hands slowly through his hair.

When I tugged on the strands lightly, his eyes widened sharply, and he began to shake. I let go quickly in worry.

"Peter?" I gasped, putting my hand on his face, "what's wrong?"

Still shaking, he placed his hand over mine, and removed it from his face. It took him a little bit of a while to calm down.

"Sorry," he blushed sheepishly, "sensory overload."

"What?"

"Nothing, never mind," he waved, "not important."

I raised an eyebrow, tilting my head in interest. I'd pester him about it later, but I was far more concerned with spending time with him than learning about his Spidey-senses. Holding out my hand, wiggled my fingers in anticipation. He clasped his hand into mine, and I laced out fingers together.

"I promise I won't leave you ever again," I nodded, "if you promise you'll stay by me."

"I don't have to promise something I already plan on doing," he laughed.

"Good."

We were silent for a second, just staring at each other with smiles on our faces. Yep, our awkwardness definitely didn't go away either. But that was good, I think, it meant nothing between us changed, and neither did our feelings.

Feelings of....Love.

"Oh!" I exclaimed, shoving my hand into my pocket, "I have something to show you."

The boy watched eagerly as I pulled out a crumpled piece of paper, shoving it at him in excitement. He gently took it from me, unfolding it carefully. He looked alarmed when he saw what it was.

"What?" he mumbled, "why do you need to show me this?"

"I need you to read it for me."

"Why?"

"Trust me."

He looked scared for a second, as if what he was about to do would change everything, but the look in my eyes softened his worries. I knew what I was doing. Scanning the paper, he began to read aloud.

"Longing," he started, "rusted, seventeen..."

He looked nervous, put my hand on his knee in comfort. He continued.

"Daybreak, furnace..."

I smiled.

"Nine, benign," Peter continued, occasionally glancing up at me, "homecoming, one..."

Before he said the last word, he looked at me for more reassurance. I nodded my head, letting him know that it was okay.

"Freight car."

There was something about being in space that changed my life. Maybe it was seeing that there was so much to know about the human race. That I had the power to regain control over everything. If I could fly a spaceship, I could block the words out of my head.

So I did.

"Surprise," I grinned, "I'm not compliant anymore."
