Olivia's POV

I walked over to Bill and he wrapped his arm around my waist. I was too tired to fight, so I let him.

"So babe, I was thinking that we skip dinner and go straight for dessert."
"Seriously? I don't even know why I gave you a chance. You're such a pig!"
"Olivia, wait."
"What?"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come on like that. Girls liked it when I act like this, and I guess it just became a reflex. I'm sorry. Please just give me a chance to be myself."
"Fine. One chance. After that, I kick your ass."
"Noted. So what's wrong?"
"Hmm?"
"Your eyes are all red and puffy. Were you crying?"
"Yeah just a little. It's nothing."
"Gee. I know Trinity said your last situation was pretty bad, but I didn't know it was that bad."
"It's nothing. I'm fine."
"You know, Olivia, we don't have to go out tonight. If you wanna reschedule for tomorrow night or next weekend, I'm okay with it."
"Don't be ridiculous. I'm totally fine. Are we going to leave or not?"
"Yeah sure. Just know that we don't have to if you don't want to."
"Nah. It'll be nice to have fun and get my mind off things."
"Fun is my middle name."
"Is it?"
"No. It's actually James, but they're interchangeable."
"Oh. Is that a new thing I didn't know about?"
"Oh yeah. Totally mainstream."

Bill was actually really nice and funny. I'm glad I decided to go out with him tonight. As much as I wanted to give Bill my full attention, my mind was still on Mr. Wright. Was he telling the truth? I yelled at him and decided to go out with another man. Would that affect our work relationship? I don't know. I hope not. I must've spaced out because Bill was waving his hand in front of my face.

"Earth to Olivia."
"I'm sorry. What were you saying?"
"I was just asking where you wanted to go to dinner, but it seems as though something else was taking up valuable mind space."
"I'm sorry. I was just lost in thought. Wherever you want to go is fine."
"I think I know just the place."

Bill takes us to this nice, quiet little Mexican restaurant. It was really nice. Even though it's night time, we decided to eat outside on the patio. There was string lighting around and it was very romantic. He pulled my chair out for me, and I smiled. We looked at the menu and talked about what we were gonna have. After we ordered our drinks, Bill looked over at me and saw me thinking again.

"Olivia?"
"Hmm?"
"Is that a no?"
"What?"
"I was asking if you were okay."
"Oh I'm fine."
"I don't know if that's exactly fine."
"Excuse me?"
"You seem to be somewhere else tonight."
"I know. I feel so bad. You went through so much trouble with Trinity and stuff to ask me out, and I'm not even paying attention. I'm sorry."
"Don't be. And I didn't go through as much trouble as Nikko got in."
"How do you know about that?"
"I went to thank Trinity, but she told me that she didn't wanna talk to me because it would just start more problems with Nikko. Then she told me the story "
"Oh. Yeah. I really wanna kick Nikko's ass."
"I know. Something tells me that's not what you're thinking about though."
"It's not."
"What is it?"
"You wouldn't be interested in hearing it."
"Of course I would. If it's bothering you so much, I would love to hear about it and help."
"We're supposed to be having a fun time. It's nothing."
"If I had to guess, it's about that other guy Trinity told me about. She told me you guys had a complicated thing. Am I right?"
"Yes. But it's over now."
"That doesn't mean you're over it. Stuff like that takes time."
"I guess."
"Is that what you were crying about earlier?"
"Yeah. We had a conversation, and it didn't go so great."
"What happened?"
"Well even though things weren't going to work out, we still wanted to be friends. I rejected him the first time, but Trinity said I was wrong and I should give him a chance. I realized she was right so when I told him I felt the same way, he told me that he didn't feel that way and was just drunk the night he said that. Then I mentioned having a date, and he freaked out. He said he did feel that way, and doesn't want me to go."
"But here you are."
"He said he doesn't feel the same way. He was probably just saying he does because he didn't want me going out with you?"
"What's wrong with me?"
"He thinks it's a bad idea for me to date someone I work with."
"Ah. Do you?"
"I did. Right now, not so much."
"So what are you going to do?"
"I don't know. I still wanna be friends, but if he's gonna be like that then forget it. I still have to deal with him though."
"Why?"
"He's a friend of Trinity's and I basically see him everyday."
"Ah. Is she mad?"
"At him a little, but she says that our date would help me."
"Has it so far?"
"A lot actually."
"I'm glad."

We ordered our food, and continued to talk and laugh all evening. It was a lot of fun. Bill was so charming and funny. After dinner, which Bill refused to let me give him money for, he took me home. He walked me to my door.

"Bill, I had such an amazing time tonight. Thank you so much."
"Anytime. I had a great time too. I was hoping that maybe you would wanna do something next weekend?"
"Another date already? I thought you would be more hard to get."
"Nah, I'm a pretty easy guy."
"Good to know. I would love to."
"Great. I'll text you so we could come up with a plan?"
"You better."

We smiled, and Bill moved the hair from my face that was falling out of my bun. I quietly thanked him, but I don't think he heard me. We were so close, that I didn't even notice when he started to lean in. The next thing I knew, I had Bill's lips on mine, my arms around his neck, his hands on my hips, and my left leg curling back just like in the movies.
