It's been a week since Bella was taken to hospital and so far there has been no change.

When the doctor came in and gave us his findings, he confirmed that Bella's body is in great shock and is currently trying to block it, hence why she hasn't woken up. She has been burnt, beaten badly, with severe bruising on her ribs, but thankfully they're not broken, and she's lost a lot of blood. Right away they set her up with bloods and began to take care of her burns. I can't even imagine what she went through in the 48 hours it took us to find her, and I honestly don't even know how she survived it or if she will survive it. What I do know is that she's the strongest woman I know, she's proven it over and over.

Today she is being moved back to Springs hospital, closer to home to make it easier for me with Ace, as well as all our family and friends who have been coming to visit her, everyone except her father and Ruby, but I shouldn't be surprised.

With Ace on my hip, I push the pram toward Bella's room. There isn't a day the two of us don't come and sit with her all day.

"Are you ready to see Mummy big man?" I smile down at him, as he babbles away to himself.

As we reach her room, I stop at the door. That is when I hear someone talking to her, peeking through the door I discover that it is a male I've never seen before.

"You did so good Bella," he tells her, as he holds her hand. "I'm glad you made it out alive, but now you've gotta pull through. You need to get back to your husband and your son, and go on to have that big family you always wanted."

"Who are you?" I question, as I enter Bella's room.

The male stops and turns to me. "I, I'm Harry. I helped your wife escape."

...

Harry explained everything, right back to the Kings being responsible for sending my father rouge, then to the horrible things they did to Bella. He told me that he helped her and why, finally everything made sense.

"I- is she pregnant?" I question.

"I don't think so, I believe she was just saying that and it worked. But she did tell me you guys have been trying."

"We have been," I nod, as I place Ace down on the bed with Bella.

"She's right, he looks just like you."

"She sure told you a lot of stuff, huh?"

"I guess that's what you do when you think you're going to die," he shrugs his shoulders. "Anyway, I'll leave you to it," he stands to his feet and makes his way to the door.

"Hey Harry," I call after him. "She's being moved back to Springs today, but you're welcome to visit any time."

"Thanks man, I appreciate that," he nods and exits the room.

I turn back to Ace, who is crawling on Bella, babbling and patting her arm with his hand.

"I know buddy, we need Mommy to wake up don't we?" I say, as I place my hand on him, making sure he won't fall.

He babbles some more, as he looks at Bella.

"You tell her buddy. We can't do it without you Mommy. Daddy needs your help, he's horrible at making bottles and he doesn't sing to me right. He can't tuck me in as tight. He's falling apart without you," I speak to Ace and Bella at the same time. "He's failing," I breath out, a tear sliding down my cheek. "So please babe wake up," and with that I fall apart. I sob quietly as I hold Ace with one hand and hold her hand with the other. "I love you Bella, so much."

"You're not failing," I hear a voice behind me and turn, wiping my tears quickly.

"Andre," I say surprised.

"I've come to see her every day since she first came in. But every time I came in you're always here," he says, as he makes his way in and sits down.

"I don't like leaving her," I admit. "And it's good for Ace to be around Bella. He needs to see her and I think she needs to feel him too."

Andre nods his head. "I get the feeling I was wrong about you Jex. I think my stubborn ass should've listened to my wife."

"What makes you say that?"

"What you said to Bella just now. That you love her and need her. That you're failing your son, the fact you never leave her side," he shrugs his shoulders. "You're not failing Jex, you're doing a hell of job taking care of your son on your own. For the past week you've essentially been a single father. Yet here Ace is, dressed in clean clothes, a clean nappy, he's fed and he's happy. You're not failing."

"Bella is so much better at it than me. You've no idea how good she is with Ace and how much he loves her."

"I can imagine," he nods, as he looks over at Ace. "Sara is right, he looks a lot like you."

It's then that it hits me. Andre has never met his grandson, who is now five months old. I pick him up off the bed and look over at Andre.

"Would you like to officially meet your grandson Andre?"

"Yes, I'd like that," he nods.

"Ace, this is your grandpa Andre," I tell him, as I sit him down on Andre's lap. "Andre this is your grandson Ace."

"Hey little man," Andre smiles at him, as he stands him on his feet on his lap, holding him by the middle.

Ace looks up at him and places his hand on his cheek. He studies his face for a little while. Just looking at Andre, taking him in.

"Grandpa has the same eyes as mommy huh?" I speak to Ace, as I make my way back over and sit down, holding Bella's hand.

...

It's around 4 PM when Bella is moved and settled into her hospital room in Springs. If I had it my way, I would take her home. But I know I can't, she needs to be in hospital. She needs to be taken care of and the best place for that is right here.

Andre and I spend most of the afternoon talking. I filled him in on the story about Harry and what he'd told me. It all made sense to Andre as well. Once he'd heard me out he even said sorry, which came as a great surprise. But it was nice and I'm glad he finally met his grandson.

"You're still with her?" Abel asks from behind me. "Dad said you were with her all morning in East cliff as well," he adds, as he makes his way into the room.

"I don't like leaving her, I want to be here when she wakes up." I turn towards him.

Two surprises in one day, Ruby is with him.

"Hi Jex," she says softly.

"Uh, hi Ruby."

"You don't mind me being here? Right?"

"Not if you're here for the right reasons," I shrug.

"I'm really sorry about how I acted toward you. How I acted toward Bella and all of the horrible things I said. I don't want us to go on like this anymore. I think it would be nice if we all just got along."

"That's all Bella has ever wanted," I sigh softly. "I always got where you were coming from. You lost your father and you blamed me for that. But Bella was always in the middle, it was hard on her."

"I know. It was stupid and I'm so very sorry," she says once more. "And I'm really sorry I blamed you Jex. You're not your father. Abel and Logan made me realise that. Them and ... I had little help from Andre."

"Andre?" I ask surprised. I mean, I know we had a decent talk this morning, but I didn't think he'd be singing my praises around his crew.

"Whatever you two talked about this morning seems to have been just what was needed. Andre thinks you're a good guy," Abel says candidly.

"This must be Ace,," Ruby smiles at my son, who is curled up at Bella's side.

"The one and only," I smile proudly.

"He's super cute. Even cuter than his pictures," she smiles.

...

Throughout the afternoon and night, the family come and go. Amelia and Riv, Dustin, Sam and Cass, Enzo and Mia, Sara, Soph and Zarah; and of course, Alyssa and Mal. While Alyssa and Mal visited, I took the chance to feed Ace and grab myself some food from the cafe downstairs. After that I was right back to being by Bella's side.

"Do you plan on going home tonight?" Marni questions, as she makes her way into the room, Mila in the pram asleep.

"If they'd let me stay the night you know I would," I tell her.

"You look tired and look at Ace," she says, as she looks down at him.

I look down at my son, who is fast sleep next to Bella and sigh softly.

"Take Ace home to bed. Try and get some sleep yourself. I'll sit with Bella for a few hours."

"What if she wakes up and I'm not here?"

"Then I'll call you and you can come right back," she makes her way over and places her hand upon my shoulder. "You look exhausted."

I nod my head slowly. "Promise you'll call me the second she wakes? If she does?"

"Of course I will Jex," she nods. "I'm leaving at eleven. When I leave Amelia is coming back in and she'll call you, okay? Trust me. We've got this covered," she rubs my back.

"Thank you," I say softly.

"Of course, you're family. That's what family does."
