Abel's POV:

Sitting across the table from Lucy, Bella's words swim around and around in my head. I watch as Lucy eats her take out. However upon scrutinizing her I notice that she's not wearing her engagement ring and clear my throat.

"You're not wearing your engagement ring today."

"Oh," she says quickly. "I uh, I took it off during my scan today. I didn't want it to get dirty with the gel and all."

"You had a scan today?" I question, promptly placing my fork down.

"Oh yeah, it was kind of last second. Anyway I didn't want to bother you," she says, unable to maintain direct eye contact.

"A last second scan?"

Something about this doesn't seem right.

"I- I thought something was wrong with the baby. So I booked in to get a scan done, just to be sure. But everything is fine. Like I said, I didn't want to worry you Abel," she takes my hand from across the table.

She had concerns about the wellbeing of our child, yet chose not to inform me. Something definitely doesn't add up here.

"If you thought there was something wrong with the baby Lucy you should have told me. After all that's my child as well. You know I care about the baby and you, right?"

"Of course I do," she nods, her eyes filled with guilt. "I'm sorry baby. I'll tell you next time I promise. I honestly just didn't want to worry you for no reason," she stands up and makes her way over to me, sitting on my lap, she then presses her lips to mine.

This is what she does best. She gets sexual to get her own way or to stop me from talking. A very cleverly timed strategy so she doesn't have to answer my questions.

"Did you see anyone there? At the scan?"

"N-No," she shakes her head, moving back slightly.

"Are you sure about that?"

At this point, I was quite certain I could now detect the strong stench of bullshit that was wafting in the air.

She sighs deeply and stands up. "What do you know?" She questions.

"I don't know sweetheart, you tell me."

"Whatever it is you've been told it's not true."

"That's funny, because I have voice recordings on my phone of you saying that I'm not the father of our baby and that you're, what was it? Only in this for the money and then you plan to run back off to the baby's actual father," I said, as I suddenly rose to my feet, raising a brow.

"H-how did ..." she begins to stutter.

"How did I know? Because I placed a voice recorder on you."

"Abel I ... it wasn't my idea. I didn't want to do this to you, really I didn't."

"Oh? You didn't want to marry me and take my money? You didn't want me to think I was going to be a father and have to give up the only woman I've ever cared for, because I needed to step up and be a father and a husband?" I raise my voice, trying my best to control the rage building within me.

"I'm sorry. P-please just let me go and you won't see my again. I swear," she pleads, now trembling.

Shaking my head, I sit back down at the table. "Get your stuff and don't you ever come back here Lucy. I won't be so kind next time."

...

Sara's POV:

Ace and I arrive at at Abel's place, soon after leaving Bella and Jex's. Standing at the front door, I ring the bell and we wait.

After a few seconds there is no answer. Using my key I unlock the door, knowing he is home due to the lights being on and his car out the front.

"Abel. Honey are you home?" I call out, as Ace and I make our way into the house.

We reach the kitchen and that's where we find him, sinking his sixth beer of the night. The bottles piling up around him.

"Abel?" I say softly.

"Lucy's gone," he says softly. "And the baby wasn't mine," he takes a long swig of his beer.

"Oh sweetheart. I'm so sorry," I make my way over and wrap my arms around him. He tenses for a second, but then returns the embrace.

"I don't care about Lucy. But I really thought I was going to be a dad in a couple of weeks time," he begins to sob. "She made me believe it was my baby. I have his room set up. Everything is ready to go for a child who isn't even mine."

"Sweetheart," I rub his back gently. "I know it's horrible, but you'll be okay."

He pulls back from the hug and looks up at Ace. "What are you guys doing here together anyway?"

"I ran into Ace at the store on his way here. I decided to come and see you as well," I lie.

"Is there anything we can do for you man?" Ace questions.

"I guess call Dad, he's going to need to know about all of this. Thank god I never trusted her enough to tell her anything about the Cobras," he shakes his head.

"I'll make a few calls," Ace leaves the room.

"Well it it looks like I've a phone call to make. I owe Bella an apology."

"You do? Why?" I ask, acting as if I don't already know.

"She was the one who told me about Lucy. Bella was having a scan done today and she saw Lucy there. It was her who called me and told me about what she'd overheard. And you know what? I just blew up at her. I accused her of being that bored with her life, that she'd resort to making up stories to earn my favour. I just didn't want to believe it."

"I'm sure she'll understand. Call her, she misses you."

"Have you seen her recently?" He asks sadly.

"Yes and she's found out the sex of the baby now."

"Wow really? She's that far along?"

"Yeah, she's getting her baby bump now and everything," I sit down on the chair beside him. "I know you don't want to hear it. But I've spent a lot of time with Jex over the past few months. He's a really good guy Abel, I see why she is so in love with him. He treats her well, he's kind to her, he shows her love and compassion. He is so excited to be a father, he can't wait. He really is everything I ever hoped for in a son in law."

A voice clears from behind us and I turn on my chair, coming face to face with Andre. Andre who I haven't seen in months.

"I'll leave you to it. Call me if you need me," I stand to my feet and pick up my bag, heading for the door.

"Hello," I give Andre a soft smile, as I make my way past him.

"Sara," he grabs my arm lightly, stopping me from walking away. "You don't have to leave just because I'm here."

"I think it's all Cobra related from here. I don't really have much a say in any of that, I never did."

"I really want us to talk. Would you at least return my calls or reply to my texts?"

"That depends. Will you respect my wishes about our daughter?"

"We can talk about it," he nods.

"Then I might answer the phone the next time you call," I make my way past him, exiting the house.

"I would have warned you, but he was closer than I thought," Ace, who is smoking a cigarette out the front, comments.

"It's fine, you're not involved in our drama honey. It's not up to you to choose sides," I give him a soft smile. "You don't mind if I head off?"

"Of course not, I'll grab a ride with Andre."

"Thanks sweetie. See you soon," I wave, as I make my way back to the car.

...

Bella's POV:

"Dinner was nice," I turn my head to the side, looking up at Jex, who is currently sitting behind me in the bath. I know I already showered earlier this afternoon, but when your super sexy boyfriend asks you to join him, how can you decline?

"It went very well. The house is still in tact, no fires were lit," he smirks.

I giggle softly and snuggle my head back into the crook of his neck. "The twins will never live that one down."

Buzz, buzz, buzz.

"That's yours beautiful."

"Who is it?" I let out a soft sigh.

"Abel."

I sit up quickly and dry my hands. Then take my phone and swipe across the screen to answer it. "Hello?"

"Hey Sis, it's me."

"I know, I have your number saved in my phone. Are you okay?"

"I just wanted to apologise to you about before and all the things I said to you. I spoke to Lucy tonight and she came clean about everything."

"S-she did?"

"Well I might have lied and told her I had a listening device on her the entire time, but she fell for it and she confessed nonetheless."

"Oh so what now?"

"Well now I'm not going to be a father and I'm single I guess."

"Are you okay though?"

"Not really Bella. I was so looking forward to being a dad. I have everything set up and ready for a baby that isn't even mine. I'm glad I don't have to marry Lucy, but I'm sad about the baby."

"I know it's not the same, but soon you'll have a baby nephew you can hang out with. That's if you want to of course."

"You're having a boy?"

"Yeah, we found out today."

"Congratulations," he says softly, then takes a deep breath. "You know I wish I could tell you that I'll be part of the baby's life sis. But I'm a Cobra and ... well ... you know I can't."

"Of course. No I get it, I understand."

"Well thanks again. I might see you around sometime."

"Yeah ..." I begin, but the line goes dead.

Placing my head within my hands I begin to cry. This time hurts me even more than the last time. Because (unlike on the night I was banished and my call to first inform him of Lucy) this time he was speaking to me as my brother, not as a Cobra; and that, hurts me more.

Jex sighs and wraps his arms around me, pulling me back against his chest. He then kisses the top of my head. He doesn't say a single word, he just holds me.
