Jex's POV:

I wake to find a very beautiful (yet still fast asleep) Bella next to me, her naked body tangled within my sheets, her blonde hair fallen messily over her face. I smile softly and reach down moving her hair from her face gently, careful not to wake her.

I then slip out of bed and head for the shower. Already naked I turn the water on, getting the temperature right and step under the showerhead, the warm water hitting my muscles, relaxing me instantly.

Everything happens for a reason. My late mother's voice rings through my head out of nowhere. It's only then I realize that I've been thinking about Bella for the last ten minutes. When I was young my mother always used to tell me that everything happens for a reason; everything in life happens for a reason, she used it as her positive way to look at the world, it's not something we really shared the same view on, but right now, I can't help but think maybe she was right.

The truth is, I've been with V nightclub and bar since it opened, but not because I work there, rather because I am the owner. If I'm honest I've never worked a full shift at the club in the two years its been open, I have staff to do that for me, but last night I couldn't find anyone to cover the shift, so I had to do it myself. How is it that on the first night I ever work at the club, it's the same night Bella decides she'll come in for a drink alone?

I've always read in books and seen in movies that you can be attracted to someone from the moment you lay eyes on them, that you feel some pull, that you're drawn to them without even knowing a thing about them. I used to think all of that was bullshit, but now that I've met Bella I'm starting to think maybe it's not just in movies and books, maybe it can be real.

I turn off the water to the shower, stepping out I grab my white towel off the towel rack and begin to dry the water from my body.

You know what you have to do. My father's words now play over in my head and I sigh softly. For a split second I got to thinking that maybe I could let another person into my life, that I could let Bella into my life; for a second my mother's words actually meant something to me, but just like it always has been, my father's words trump my mother's.

The death of my father was sudden, and if I'm honest, I didn't see it coming. In turn, it has left me with the responsibly of things I didn't think I'd be stuck with for many years to come. There's no way I can drag Bella into my messed up life, she's far too sweet.

Ding dong, the front doorbell rings loudly throughout the house. I wrap my towel around my waist and make my way into the bedroom quickly; I pull some sweatpants on, make my way down the hall and down the three small steps to the front door, pulling it open.

"Sup man?" Dustin, a friend who I've known for years, makes his way into the house, his voice loud as always.

"Keep your voice down," I hush him as I close the front door.

"Oh yeah? I heard you took a pretty blonde home last night, don't tell me she's still here?" He says with a grin on his face.

"Yes she's still here and she's asleep, so please would you shut the fuck up," I roll my eyes.

He peers into the living room and then looks back at me. "She's in your bed?" He raises a brow.

"And?" I shrug my shoulders.

"And you never let girls sleep in your bed; you've never in the entire time I've known you and it's been how long now? Twenty years?"

"Did you need something? Or did you just come here to annoy me?"

"To annoy mostly," he shrugs his shoulders and leans his body against the bench. "But also to tell you there's a new club being built, so you're going to have some competition."

"Really? Where?" I cross my arms over my chest.

"Not too far from yours, only a ten-minute drive. I haven't found out who's building it yet, but it has been approved by council."

"Of course it has," I roll my eyes. "Well thanks for the heads up man, leave it with me."

"Will do," he grins. "I'll uh, see you around; when you're not too busy of course." He pushes his body off the bench and makes his way out the front door once more.

I make my way back down the hallway and into the bedroom. Bella is now awake and sitting up in bed, the sheets still wrapped around her body.

"Sleeping beauty has woken," I give her a small smile.

"I've been awake for a little while, but I didn't want to come out with your friend here; I also have no idea where my clothes are," she giggles softly.

"My friend has gone. I'll go get your clothes for you, I think they're in the kitchen and dining room; possibly the living room as well."

She giggles softly and shakes her head in embarrassment, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.

"The bathroom is through that door if you'd like to shower, I'll bring your clothes to you."

"Thank-you," she smiles up at me.

By the time I arrive back in the room, Bella has gone from the bed and I can hear the shower running. I make my way into the bathroom and lay her clothes on the bench space attached to the sink, along with two clean towels. Then head back into the kitchen to cook us something for breakfast.

...

"Was your friend here for long this morning?" Bella questions, making conversation as we sit across the table from one another eating breakfast.

"No, only ten minutes or so; it was a quick call in, work-related things," I shrug.

"Work things?" She asks puzzled.

"I uh, I own V; I don't just work there."

"Really? Why didn't you tell me before?" She asks with a smile.

"I didn't want you to think I was one of those guys who talks about all the things he has to get a girl into bed," I admit and take a sip of my juice.

"I see," she nods her head and looks back down at her food.

"So uh, are you planning to stick around for the day?"

"No, of course not," she says a little panicked. "I'll get out of your hair as soon as we're finished breakfast."

"That's not what I meant at all," I chuckle softly. "I have a few things to do at work, but you're more than welcome to stay if you like."

"Oh," she says surprised and takes a sip of her juice. "Well thank-you, that's very sweet, but I probably should be getting home."

"Of course," I nod and finish up my breakfast. "I can drive you if you like, or call a taxi, whichever you'd rather."

"I'm in the opposite direction to your work, you'd have to drive twenty minutes out of your way, so the taxi will be fine; as much as I appreciate you offering to drive me," she places her last mouthful of food into her mouth and chews slowly before speaking again. "Thank-you for breakfast it was amazing, a girl could get used to waking up to that." She stands up and takes my plate, piling it with hers and walks them to the sink.

"Just leave them in the sink, I'll do them when I get home from work," I tell her.

"Are you sure? I don't mind."

"Really Bella, leave them," I assure her and finish my juice, before standing up and making my way over placing it in the sink, then pull my phone out and put in a request in the Taxi app. "Five minutes and your ride will be here," I tell her, sliding my phone back into my pocket.

"Well, in that case, thank-you for last night, and for breakfast this morning," she smiles up at me.

"You're welcome," I give her a small smile back.

"I uh, I guess I'll see you around?" She says nervously, once again showing she was telling the truth when she said she'd never had a one night stand before.

But maybe I don't want her to be a one night stand. Maybe I want more.

"We can exchange numbers if you like? Hang out sometime if you're free?"

"Yeah, I'd like that," she nods and pulls her phone from her clutch and hands it to me.

I place my number in her phone and then hand her my phone, she does the same then hands it back to me.

Beep beep, the horn on the taxi rings from out front.

"I guess it's early," she slides her black heels back on her feet and places a kiss on my cheek. "I'll see you soon."

"See you soon beautiful."
