"Alright, baby, I'm heading out," you say as you grab your bag and go to the door.

"Hey, wait!" you hear Jenna call out. You turn around and smile. She pulls you into a tight hug. You chuckle and kiss her head, wrapping your arms around her.

"How could you leave without properly saying goodbye?" she mumbles into your chest. You lift her head gently, giving her a soft smile.

"I'm sorry beautiful, you're right" You kiss her softly, making her smile against your lips.

"Think that's enough of a goodbye?" you whisper, caressing her cheek softly.

"Of course not", she grins, kissing you again. You get lost in the moment, wrapping your arms around her waist.

You almost decide to quit going then and there until you feel the vibration of your phone in your pocket.

You pull away softly, taking out your phone to see a message from your friend Cole.

Y/n hurry up; Natalie and I are waiting downstairs.

Jenna cups your face, making you look at her again.

"Promise me you'll be careful?" you nod, pecking her lips.

"I promise. I'll be back in a few hours, baby" You hug her one last time and head out.

You, Natalie and Cole, drive to the beach. You take off your hoodie and sweats, left in a wetsuit, as you grab your surfboard.

They grab their surfboards, and the three of you go to the beach.

"Waves are pretty good right now", Cole points out. You nod and prepare yourself to head out into the water.

The three of you are soon drifting further in the water, hoping to catch a sound wave.

"Guys, look there, that wave would be perfect", Natalie pointed in a direction. The three of you make your way over.

You centre yourself on your surfboard. You're able to catch your wave successfully, and your friends cheer.

You're about to return beside them when you seem to spot something in the water.

You sit on your surfboard. Briefly, your legs were dangling in the water.

You realise what you spotted was a shark. You quickly call out to your friends as you speed up, trying to catch up to them.

"Guys, get the fuck out of here. There's a shark."

Before they can respond, they hear you scream out. They turned around to see a shark had bitten into their calf, and the water around them quickly turned red.

You kick the shark, scaring it away and giving yourself time to escape.

Your friends hold you up as you return to the shore as quickly as you can.

You're screaming and gritting your teeth in agony. Natalie quickly calls an ambulance as Cole tightly wraps his towel around your calf to try to slow the bleeding.

It seems like hours before the ambulance gets there. The paramedics quickly lift you, taking you into the ambulance.

Natalie and Cole sit beside you in the ambulance as you drive to the hospital.

You grimace in pain as you turn to them. "Guys, do you have my phone? I need to call Jenna and tell her what happened."

"Hey, don't worry, we'll take care of it. Just keep breathing, Y/n; you're doing great," Natalie says, taking your hand and squeezing softly.

You suddenly feel dizzy, Natalie and Cole looking more blurry as each moment passes. You start to mumble something to them, and then everything goes black.

Time skip

You groan softly as you wake up. Bright hospital light shines in your eyes, and you squint as you look at your surroundings.

"Baby? Oh, thank god you're awake," Jenna exclaims, holding your hand and caressing it gently as tears fall from her eyes.

You try to speak, but your voice comes out very croaky. Jenna swiftly stands up and pours you a cup of water, holding the cup to your lips as you drink.

You finish the water and clear your throat. "I'm sorry for worrying you, my love. What did the doctors say about my leg?"

You lift your blanket and see multiple stitches on your calf. You try to move your leg a bit and groan out in pain.

"Take it easy, babe. The doctor said you suffered some nerve damage. Nothing too severe, but you're not allowed to surf for a long while. Walking is also going to be quite difficult at first" You nod, taking a deep breath as you take everything in.

"Ok, fine, I'll admit, I didn't keep my promise this time", you joke, hoping to bring a smile to her face.

She laughs softly, shaking her head as she looks at you with teary eyes. "I'm just so glad you're ok, darling. I cried when Cole called me and explained what happened."

You reach out and squeeze her hand gently. "I'll be ok, I promise. This time it's a promise I will keep," you wink.

She smiles softly. You continue talking until Cole and Natalie return to your room with some food.

Soon enough, you're back home and taking time to heal properly. Despite how terrified you were from the attack, you can't help but feel excited for when you can surf again.
