Wednesday did not know what was happening with her.

At first, she was convinced she had fallen ill. Her face would burn up; she felt like she couldn't breathe and would often shiver.

Yet when she spoke to her parents about the matter, they smiled at each other knowingly.

Their little storm cloud was falling in love.

When Wednesday mentioned her symptoms, she also said she usually experiences them in her dorm.

And what could be causing her illness in her dorm? She could think of many things. Nevermore Academy was an old building; after all, there were bound to be things that could make anyone unwell.

There was also the possibility that the toxic chemicals she would drink in small doses daily (to build her immunity) would finally get to her.

Wednesday had not pondered that her roommate, Y/n L/n, was to blame.

The girl was tolerable, barely. She was always kind to Wednesday; the black-haired girl wasn't sure why.

Sometimes Wednesday would get writer's block, letting out frustrated grunts from her side of the room. Without fail, Y/n would be by her side, asking if she's ok with a gentle hand on Wednesday's shoulder.

Wednesday's shoulder always felt on fire after she assured Y/n she was fine and her roommate took her hand off.

For the next week, Wednesday swore she would investigate the cause of her illness and end it.

She kept a detailed journal of her activities, where she was, who she was around and what symptoms she showed.

She was in physics class, finishing the note in her journal, when she felt someone speak up.

"Hi, Wednesday, mind if I sit next to you?" she recognised the voice as Y/n's. She gave her a slight nod, feeling her face hot as Y/n sat beside her.

Interesting... One of her symptoms had occurred just when Y/n first spoke to her.

Could Y/n have been poisoning her somehow? It seemed like a possibility.

The girl sitting beside her was very talented in their witchcraft class, which could have enabled her to harm Wednesday without the black-haired girl knowing.

Wednesday noted down her thoughts, her face still burning. Y/n had noticed her roommate's face.

"Are you feeling ok?" she heard Y/n whisper. Wednesday did not say a word; she looked towards the teacher and tried to calm herself down.

Time skip

She had almost given up. What could be affecting her this much?

After studying the notes in her journal from the past week, her most probable conclusion remained that Y/n L/n was poisoning her somehow.

She needed answers.

Wednesday knew that Enid had befriended her roommate, and since she was the only other person in this place she could somehow tolerate, she decided to ask her.

"Enid", Wednesday speaks up, seeing the blonde turn around with a grin.

"Oh, hi, Wednesday! Have you come to join us for lunch?" the bubbly girl asks.

Wednesday took a moment to look at who she was sitting with. Yoko, Xavier, Y/n and other fangs were sitting by her.

When Wednesday met Y/n eyes, her breath hitched. Her witchcraft must be stronger than the black-haired girl had initially assumed.

"No. Can I speak to you privately?" Wednesday asked in a monotone way. She mustn't let Y/n know that she was onto her.

Enid raised her eyebrow quizzically but nodded. Both girls walked out of the cafeteria.

Wednesday decided the only place she trusted not to be eavesdropped on was in her dorm.

She led the wolf girl into the room and closed the door behind her.

"What's going on, Wens? You're acting even weirder than usual."

Wednesday ignored the idiotic nickname, furrowing her eyebrows as she started speaking.

"Enid, I would not say I trust you. Trusting anyone in this place would be frankly imbecilic. However, I fear I do not have any option other than to seek your assistance. This is an important matter," she explained.

Enid nodded slowly. "Of course, I'll help you. You're one of my besties, after all," she smiled.

Wednesday's nose scrunched up slightly in disgust at the word 'bestie', but she nodded.

"Someone is trying to poison me, more specifically, my roommate", Wednesday explained casually, as if she was describing something basic like the weather.

"WHAT?" Enid almost shouted. She could not believe what she was hearing.

"As I said, trusting anyone here is idiotic. Regardless, I need you to disclose what she's poisoning me with so that I can develop an antidote."

"What makes you think she would do something like that? And tell me of all people?" Enid asked, confused.

"I do not yet know her motives. The two of you are close, or to use your terms, 'besties', are you not? Y/n talks almost as much as you, so I concluded that she must have shared some important information about the poison with you," Wednesday said, feeling frustrated that Enid was withholding information.

She is willing to use a much harsher method if needed.

Enid paced around the room, trying to piece everything together in her mind. Y/n poisoning someone? And Wednesday, of all people?

Of course, she knew of Y/n's feelings towards the stoic girl. She swore she would not tell a soul, eventually allowing Y/n to build more confidence to ask Wednesday out slowly.

"How do you know it's her poisoning you? You said it yourself; you can't trust anyone here," Enid spoke up, standing in front of Wednesday again.

"I stand by my previous statement. However, upon reviewing my detailed journal, I have only come to one conclusion. I documented the symptoms I was experiencing, where I was at the time and who I was near. My symptoms were the strongest in this very room when Y/n was present."

Enid felt sick. Could it be true? Was Y/n lying to her so she wouldn't suspect her if Wednesday ended up dead?

She looked at the girl sympathetically. "I'm sorry for doubting you Wens. I want to help you. Tell me, what symptoms were you experiencing?"

Wednesday walked over to her desk, picked up her journal and opened it on her page of symptoms before handing it to Enid.

The blonde girl started reading the page.

Symptoms experienced:

- Burning sensation on the face, particularly after communication with the suspect

- Shivering, most commonly after the suspect touches the shoulder or arm.

-Breathing difficulties while near suspect, possibly due to a poisonous gas the suspect is using near her

-Thought distortions, being particularly present once the suspect begins a conversation. High possibility of witchcraft in use.

A few more were on the list, but Enid smiled wide as she handed the book back to Wednesday.

"I think I know what poison she's using, Wens", Enid stated, feeling giddy.

Wednesday almost smiled in relief. Perhaps Enid can be helpful at times.

"What is its name?"

"It's love", Enid grinned.

Wednesday's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She has studied all poisons, and love certainly did not meet the criteria to be considered one.

Love was a useless emotion that people experience, but Wednesday was not one of them. After all, Wednesday does not do feelings.

"Perhaps I chose the wrong person to help me. You're mistaken," the black-haired girl said before turning on her heel, ready to leave.

"You're in love with her, Wednesday. I'm happy you found someone who will treat you well."

Wednesday turned around quickly, about to threaten Enid for such absurd assumptions before the room door opened.

Y/n came in, seeing Wednesday and Enid standing in the middle of the room.

"Hey, guys. Sorry, am I interrupting something? I can come back later."

Before Wednesday could say anything, Enid skipped over to Y/n

"No, I was just leaving. It would be best if you stayed, though; I think Wednesday has something to tell you," she winks at Y/n, moving past her and closing the door behind her.

Y/n turns to Wednesday, who is already looking at her.

"What is it you want to tell me?" you ask cautiously

Wednesday let out a small sigh, defeated. She wasn't fooling enough not to consider love as an explanation for her symptoms.

She had hoped it was anything but love. She didn't want to be like her parents.

She must tell Y/n. If the girl rejects her, Wednesday could spend the rest of her days heartbroken.

That would be a much better fate in her eyes.

"Y/n L/n, for weeks, I was convinced that you were trying to poison me. However, Enid has enlightened me to a different thought."

Wednesday takes a breath before starting.

"Y/n L/n, I am in love with you."

Your eyes go completely wide, the shock of the confession clear on your face.

THE Wednesday Addams has just confessed to you? It must be a dream.

You stayed silent trying to process everything all at once. Wednesday took the silence as a clear sign of rejection, not saying a word as she walked over to her desk and began packing her stuff.

"Wednesday, stop, please!" you call out. She does as you say, turning around to face you, emotionless.

"I... I love you too. I didn't know how to tell you. I've been in love with you for a while now and wanted to ask you out. I knew I'd get rejected, but I wanted to ensure you knew. You are loved, Wednesday," you speak truthfully, a soft smile on your face.

Wednesday steps forward until she in front of you.

"Y/n, I must know if you are honest with this confession. It pains me to admit it, but the Addams curse has been passed down to me. All members of my family devote themselves completely to their lovers. I will give you my whole heart and soul if you so wish. I will spend my life maintaining your happiness until my last breath. You have my word."

You nod, tears falling from your eyes. "God, Wednesday, you're so eloquent, I don't even know how to follow that. All I can say is that I'm definitely in love with you. You have my word," you echo her sentiment.

You see the ghost of a smile on her face. Satisfied with your answer, she speaks again, quieter this time.

"May I kiss you, Y/n?"

You nod wordlessly and watch her cup your face gently. She wipes your tears away with her thumbs before leaning in.

You lean in with her and feel immense butterflies in your stomach as your lips touch. The kiss is gentle yet full of love.

When you both pull away, you can't help but kiss her forehead gently.

Instead of pulling back, Wednesday lets her head rest on your chest, closing her eyes. You feel her hand gently hold your lower back.

You smile down at her, hugging her back.

Wednesday can't help but feel glad that you weren't trying to poison her, although, in her opinion, that would have made for a much more exciting story.
