Chapter Five

Teresa was still trying to digest what Grandpa Daniel said, when she felt herself scooped up and dropped on a wide muscular shoulder. She let out a scream of surprise. Suddenly the world felt upside down from where she hung.

"Don't worry Grandpa. I've got this." She felt her body vibrate as Jacob spoke, while one of his arms was on the back of her knee, and one of his hands rested comfortably on her butt.

The sudden movement as he walked, made her head spin. "Jacob! Let me down this second!" She angrily said, gritting her teeth in annoyance, her hands smacking him on his back continually.

In response she got a soft smack on her butt. She gasped at his audacity. "Don't tempt me." Was the only word he spoke.

"How dare you!" She snared at him, glaring a dagger on his back, though he couldn't see her. Teresa's gaze raised to the very one responsible for her predicament.

Gideon stood in the spot he had been in since he entered the living-room. He had an expression on his face Teresa couldn't read. She mouthed the word 'you're dead' shooting lasers at him.

'Sorry' Gideon whispered. Somehow since they started their journey over to Lakewood, he found himself saying a lot of sorry. Teresa felt this won't be the only time he would be apologizing.

Daniel on the other hand sat on a single sofa, watching the whole ordeal in clear fascination. Teresa restrained herself from yelling out the whole truth. She wanted to, but yet found herself unable to say the word out loud. Probably because she doesn't want to distress the old man.

Before they left her line of sight, as Jacob carried her up the staircase, her eyes caught with Rachel, who Teresa had presumed was Jacob's girlfriend, but wasn't. She wondered what her role was in this whole visit.

Teresa could swear she was almost losing her mind in trying to understand whatever the hell was going on. And each word she could come up with ends up useless.

She heard the sound of a door opening and closing. Carefully Jacob dropped her to her feet. Feeling herself get dizzy and almost dropping on the ground, she felt Jacob's arms wrap around her waist, pulling her to his chest. There was no denying the hot buzz his body gave, his body on hers felt hard and ripped. He almost felt like a sculpture, so unreal.

Teresa gulped at the proximity of the body. As if she was electrocuted, she pushed her body away from him, almost losing her footing in the process.

"What the hell are you trying to do? Take advantage of me?" She snapped, wrapping her arms around her chest, suddenly feeling cold after losing his warmth.

Jacob smirk, one side of his lip peaked up, as if finding her situation amazing. "If I was trying to do anything with you. You'd know. And—" he whispered as he walked slowly towards where she stood. "—taking advantage isn't my thing. They come willingly."

It took great effort to stand her ground as he gave her one of his predatory movements. She chose to show him no fear, she hated to let him think he still affected her.

Covering the space between them, he moved his mouth to her ear, grazing his warm lips on her earlobe. She gasped as a shiver ran through her body. His warm breath caressing the back of her ear, making her close her eyes at how welcoming it felt, her whole body became hot, her blood boiling as his hands grabbed each side of her waist pulling him to his own hot body.

Suddenly the room felt small, and the will to breath left Teresa's lung. Her head moved to the side when his lips moved down to place a wet kiss by the side of her neck.

"They surrender to me." He murmured, while sucking and biting her neck, as if he were starving, "just like now."

Teresa freezed, stiffening her body as her whole senses came back to her. She found herself pushing Jacob again for the second time in just a few minutes, but his body didn't budge instead he let go of her carefully.

Taking a deep breath, Teresa walked away from him to walk around on the other side of the bed, putting a rift between them. He was dangerous.  Very dangerous.

One moment he was a few distance away from her, and the next he had his lips on her neck. Something tells Teresa she wasn't prepared for this version of Jacob, the attractive type of Jacob. She could come with the other version, it was bearable. But this present version Teresa fears might destroy her, forever.

"I think both you and Gideon have an explanation to do. What game are you both playing?" She asked, after giving herself a minute to collect her senses.

Jacob shrugged, rubbing his hand on his beardless beard. "The game of pretense?"

She narrowed her eyes on him. "Don't throw away my question." She sighs, straightening her back, gazing at his emerald green eyes, "from the way things are I'm sure you knew Gideon's preposition to me."

He nodded. "Yeah. I ask him to do so." He said comfortably, making himself welcome as he sat on the perfectly made bed, while taking off his shoes casually.

"Why?"

"I accidentally spilled your name, calling you my fiancée." He said the exact thing Gideon said. Teresa was beginning to think maybe Gideon's story had apparently been Jacob's to tell.

"Did you ask Gideon to lie to me, because if I knew it'd been you I'd have hundred percent not agree?" She's questioned, folding her arms to her chest, already prepared to bounce at him any given moment. "We haven't seen each other for years. What if I'd been in a relationship?"

He smiled, winking at her, his whole eyes looking like they were about to devour her. "I knew you weren't." He said, "how? Well for your information I'd been in New York for six months. I saw you a lot while I was visiting Gideon's company, and studied you to know you weren't in any form of relationship. You don't know how glad I'm to realize you were single."

Teresa was in shock. Jacob had been in New York, and had visited the company where she works and she didn't know? Or was he preventing her from finding out of his arrival.

She watched as he walked to the door and opened it to pull in her bags. She saw someone walk away from the door, who was undeniably Gideon.

He was avoiding her. Wanting to know more she walked towards the door to chase him for more questions, but was brought to a halt by Jacob's hand on her arm, pulling her back inside and shut the door to lock it, while holding onto the key.

"Gideon is innocent of whatever this is. I forced him to lie, he owed me that much." He clarified, making Teresa more angry than she already was.

The pulled her arm away from his grip, "whatever you both owed yourself shouldn't have any concern with me." She snapped, while pacing in the room, running her hands through her hair.

"Let me point out that Gideon didn't force you. You agreed to this means, you join whatever agreement we had the moment you said yes."

"How the hell do you know what I agreed on?"

He carried one of her bags on the bed one after the other, "because I happened to have been on the other table behind you?"

She gasps at his words. He'd been at the restaurant? Wow. Both brothers really know how well to plan things.

Right now she felt a burning hate on Gideon for deceiving her. He knew how much she despised being in Jacob's presence, let alone to pretend to be his fiancée? That was excessively too much.

"What about Rachel?" Teresa asked, feeling the need to point out the part of Rachel she was failing to place together.

"What about her?" He threw her question back at her.

"Who is she to you?" She asked.

He turned around, giving her a huge grin, his green eyes sparkling making Teresa almost melted on her knees at the beauty of his face. She was still so unreal to her.

She cursed herself mentally for being too weak. It was only a grin for God's sake. She cautioned herself.

"Getting jealous already my love?" He jokes while letting out a soft laugh. She won't deny hearing him call her his love, did things to her, but instead she chose to frown more at him. "Okay, okay. Rachel is my secretary. But for now in this house she'd be playing the role of being Gideon's girlfriend."

"And she agreed?"

"Why so surprised? You agreed, why won't she?"

She raised her arms around her. "Because I don't see what she gains from this whole plan, or her need to pretend, and act like his girlfriend."

"Well, the first reason you should take note of is I'm her boss. And second, I pay her really well." He turned his back away from hers, giving her the sight of his back skin as he pulled off his shirt. Teresa forced hers from drooling. She was right, he was ripped.

"What are you doing?" She asked in fear, sensing the whole air around the room seized. Taking the opportunity she walked far enough giving them both some distance, not wanting the same thing happening again.

Jacob turned to gaze at her. Fully giving her a complete view of his chest which she wasn't prepared to look at. She kept her gaze on his face, while he raised his brow with a smirk at her reaction.

Teresa feared her face would be a burning red. She found herself blushing a lot since Jacob came into her life again.

"To take a bath. You wanna join me?" He asked, his voice suddenly raspy in seduction.

Trying to act nonchalant, and unaffected Teresa rolled her eyes at his invitation. "No thank you. I'd rather do it alone." She said, making him chuckle as he make way pulling a door present in the room, which appears to be a bathroom.

"In case you change your mind, my love. I'll be waiting." He said, making her wonder if he was joking or not.

With the silence of the room except for the shower running, Teresa ran over to where her bag was on the bed, pulling out a long sweatpants, and a huge tee shirt she'd brought thankfully.

There was no way she'd be wearing anything revealing to a sexual man like Jacob. She wouldn't want to give him any ideas.

Now she was alone, she took a moment to analyze the room and its simple beauty. A king sized bed with white clean bedsheets, a brown wooden drawer by the side of the bed, with a lamp on top of it, the wall facing her was a wooden wardrobe on the left side, next to it hung a huge picture of mount Everest.

She loved every simple detail of the room. Teresa sighs, taking in the nice smell. She'd almost forgotten she wasn't alone.

At the sound of the bathroom door opening, she jumped on her feet from the bed to sit on, taking a race to the bathroom, almost knocking down shirtless Jacob on his way out.

Jacob laughter echoed in the room as she shut the door making sure to lock it, while she had her bath.

Taking her time to bathe and get dressed, she walked out of the bathroom to sight Jacob laying on the left side of the bed. His arms behind the back of his head, still shirtless. The way he lay, and smiled proved he'd been waiting for her the whole time.

"What are you doing? Where's your shirt? Why are you on the bed?" She threw questions towards him, completely taking off guard at his shirtless body.

"I sleep nude. You should be thankful I wore this much. And on the bed part. There's nowhere else to sleep. No extra sheets to spread on the floor, just one bed. Which I'm liking by the way, it's very comfortable, you should come join me." He opened his arms wide in invitation.

Not a chance, she said to herself. Immediately walking to the wardrobe pulling it open checking for any sign of an extra sheet. It came out empty.

She restrained herself from cursing out loud. Sighing in defeat, she walked towards the bed, while Jacob still had his smirk plastered on his face. She laid on the bed, facing her back to him.

Jacob let out a chuckle. "What is this?" He pointed out the laughter lingering on his voice. "You've sexy toes, but I'd rather start from your head." He touched her toe making her jack back at the sudden touch.

"Don't touch me, Jacob. I'm serious. Unless you want me building a fence with our bags. And I'm not taking any chances with you." She said still giving him her back.

She'd taken a pillow, laying upside down on the bed. Facing her feet on the opposite side of the bed, and head where his feet were.

At her word he let out a loud laughter. "Teresa. You still have a lot to learn." He whispered to her feet. She could feel his warm breath on her feet, but chose to ignore him. Though his last statement troubled her a lot.

Somehow the tight arms of sleep overtook her. Dinner for the night long forgotten.

Teresa swore as she gave in to sleep, they were fingers trailing softly at the back of her feet.

Apparently, Jacob wasn't really good at listening to instructions.
