After visiting the lab and talking a bit with Doc, Megan headed to the kitchen for breakfast, of course with James' company who still insisted on following her. The two of them were the only ones in the kitchen, it seemed that it was still early for the rest of the team.

They served themselves cereal and sat at the bar, to Megan's surprise, talking to James wasn't as bad as she thought it would be, he was quite fun and interesting to talk to. Despite the constant flirtation, Megan liked the boy's presence.

"So where do you know Spencer from?" Megan asked, she was curious about were he had come from.

"Well, long story short, we've basically known each other since we were little kids, our families have always been very close." He explained as he chewed on his cereal.

"Close your mouth while you chew." Megan said as she closed the boy's mouth with her hand.

" Yes mom." He added to his playful tone with a big smile, making a small smile escape from Megan's lips.

"Megan!" A feminine voice shouted, the pair that was at the bar turned towards the entrance of the kitchen to see how Ava and Lillian ran towards Megan, when they reached her they embraced her in a big hug.

"Oh my god, we were so worried about you." The blonde blue-eyed spark murmured with her head against the assasin's shoulder.

"Yeah, we went to look for you in your room this morning and when you weren't there we freaked out." Lillian slowly released her hold on Megan when Ava did the same.

"I woke up early and went to the lab with Doc, then I came here for breakfast. I'm fine girls." Megan assured, giving them, as usual, a small smile to comfort them. Despite how useless all this worry for her seemed to her, she played polite.

They were satisfied with hearing her say it and seeing her mostly untouched. Lillian moved to the cabinets to start with breakfast while Ava stayed close and carefully inspected Megan's bruised neck. She didn't really mind, she was just concentrated in eating her cereal. Glancing to the side, Ava finally seemed to notice the fourth person in the room.

"I see you have company." Ava said, turning to James. " Good morning James." She greeted him with a smile.

"Good morning Ava, Lillian. I was wondering when you would acknowledge me." Lillian's cheeks turned pink with freight of being rude.

"Oh sorry James. Good morning." She quickly fixed that small slip.

"Don't worry Lillian I'm just playing, do you know if the boys woke up already?" He'd just met them the day before, but it was easy to say that the two girls weren't the bad part of working with the team.

"Missing me already, James?" Everyone turned to the kitchen entrance upon hearing Spencer's voice, he entered the kitchen, behind him, Liam and Derek. The three looked relieved upon seeing Megan.

"Megan, it's good to see that you're okay." Liam walked over to give her a short but warm hug. "I was worried about you after yesterday." He took her face in his hands before planting a soft kiss on her forehead.

"You all act like you weren't there too." She clearly remembered that all of them dealt with yesterday's events, all their attention directed to her was really unecesary.

"You looked exhausted."That was Spencer's nice way of saying that she looked worse than the others. He came closer to her and wrapped her shoulders with his arm while having a smirk on his face.

"Thanks, but i've been done worse and Doc already did a check on me, i'm fine." She didn't know how many times it was necessary for her to say it before it got stuck in their thick heads.

"Stop pestering her, I'll make you breakfast." Ava chimed in.

"Oh please, as if you didn't do the same." Liam said with a raised eyebrow and a playful tone. He didn't see it but he knew for a fact that Ava was even worse than them.

"Shut up or you won't have your waffles." Ava warned playfully. Megan left a short giggle pass through her lips before she got up to put her and James's empty plates on the sink.

Derek who hadn't participate in the interaction so far, walked over to her and whispered into her ear.

"Can we talk honey?" When she accepted his request and nodded, he took her hand and led her away from the kitchen, they stopped in the hallway. "I was worried about you." His eyes showed sincerity in his words, his hands felt cold against the warm skin of her face he was touching. Oddly, the sensation was something she cherished to feel, his slow and insistant way of getting closer to her real self was growing it's fruits, but all she wanted was to keep him away from her poisoned apples.

"You're thinking to low of me." It was bold of him to asume that with a past like hers, being close to death wasn't a daily.

His eyes descended from her eyes to her neck, and soon his eyebrows formed a frown upon the angry marks that adorned Megan's skin. Delicately he lowered one of his hands to the spot, returning his eyes to her face for a second just to see if there was any discomfort on her side, when there wasn't, he lowered his gaze and began to gently stroke the marks. He retracted his fingers when she winced slightly at the touch, instead returning his hands to her face and plant a soft kiss on her forehead.

"I could never do that." He wispered with his lips still feathering above her skin. All Derek wanted was to let her know that he worried because he cared, there wasn't a single ounce a doubt in her strength, but they all knew the dangerous game they were playing and the inescapable ending it could have for either of them. So, if he sinned for caring for her, then he would gladly freeze in hell.

Their eyes were shut as they stayed there close to eachother for a few more seconds before he put a small distance between just to have that look into her eyes. "Forgive me Megan." He apologized for letting this happen to her, for not being able to stop the brothers, for not being there to protect her. Along his apology came a promise to make them pay for hurting not only her, but his team. His blue eyes burned into her light brown ones enough for her liking, deciding it was to muchΒ  for a day.

"Don't blame yourself Grey, i'm a big girl and know how to adjust counts." Her hands went to his and with a swift move she parted them from her face, not saying any other word as she turned and walked away from him, heading towards a much need training session.

----

Megan had been letting out some steam for about 30 minutes. All that was heard in the room were grunts and white sound punches to the punching bag.

"Releasing your anger?" She stopped at the sound of the second voice in the room.

" Something like that." She turned around to see James standing a few feet from her. " Why are you here?" Probably a nonesense question hence the obvious use of the room they were in, but his presence clouded her good sense of thought. Luckily, she masked it well by going to catch her water bottle.

"I just wanted to exercise a bit, but since you're here, what do you say about a little match?" He sugested with a smirk, something she didn't see at first since her back was at him. Megan put her water down and procesed what she just heard, he was getting more interesting by the minute.

"Sure of that Knight? I don't want to hurt you." Once she turned to face him, she challenged matching his own smirk. The air that surrounded them felt so light that it made it seem they had known eachother for years now.

"Don't worry about me princess, I can take a few hits."

"Very well, then let's do it." Megan moved to the mat and James positioned himself in front of her. They both got into a combat stance, Megan started the fight without a second thought, placing a solid kick that James just as fast blocked with his forearm. Then he threw some blows that she easily dodged, after a few backs and forths she launched a right handed punch that successfully connected with his jaw, he staggered a bit but recovered immediately.

Punch with punch, dodge and dodge, kick with kick; the two exchanged attacks, neither really had an advantage, until Megan managed to kick James hard in the chest, giving her time to take one of his arms and throw him over her shoulder and to the mat. She was fast to place herself on top of him, pinning him down with his arms above his head. Their faces only inches apart. She didn't calculate the proximity they would have when she did what she did.

" I win." It came out as a single breath from her smiling lips. They both looked directly into each other's eyes.

"You win princess." He happily acepted flashing one of his own smiles. Even through their sweaty and panting selves, both of them seemed to not mind at all the situation.

"We should do this more often." Her innocent statement was followed by her sitting up slightly, she sat just above his hip. His hands found themselves moving towards her waist, while her's looked for the perfect place on his chest.

"You on top of me? It would be a pleasure." He lowered his voice and played a smirk for a purpose. Understanding the reference, she playfully slapped his chest.

"You're a pervert." She got up from his body and headed to get her already empty bottle. James got up from the floor and moved quickly behind her, taking her by the waist in surprise and bending down just slightly to be able to let a whisper into her ear.

"But I don't mind being the one on top." The mix between his touch, his voice and his breath that colided in a hot streak above her sensitive skin was enough to make her shudder. Pure bliss runned down her body with the feeling of the first kisses on her neck. "I wish I could erase these marks, ease your pain." He murmured against her marked anatomy. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the pleasure he gave her just with his touch.

" I have to go take a shower." She whispered. She didn't want to walk away but she had to. She removed James's hands from her waist, grabbed her things, and walked out of the training room. Escaping from these situations just seemed right today.

----
After taking a shower, Megan decided to call her boys to see how they were doing. She knew they were strong, but yesterday the three of them almost died, and she always cared about their well-being. She took one of her untraceable phones and called, after three rings someone answered.

"Who is this?"

"It's Megan."

"Megan ?! What a relief. How are you? Does something hurt? Do you need us to go there?"

"I'm fine Tyler, I called to check on you guys."

"All good over here, Davis took the things off our ankles, it hurt like hell but our powers came back. We were worried about you, you looked bad yesterday."

"It was just the tiredness, today I woke up feeling as good as ever"

"I believe you. Stefan is taking a shower, but how about we go see you once he gets out?"

"That would be nice. I love you Tyler."

"Me too Meggy. See you in a bit."

" Okay." She hung up and went to her closet to get dressed, opting for a pair of jeans, a black t-shirt and her old black combat boots.

When she finished changing, she left her room and went to the living room where she found Lillian sitting on the sofa. "Hey Lil" Megan greeted as she took a seat next to the girl.

" What!?" She almost chocked cause of the desbelief, almost throwing the bowl of popcorn she had on her lap, she turned to see Megan with an incredulous face.

"What?" Megan was outerly confused by Lillian's reaction. She just said hi.

"You called me Lil, it's the first time you've ever called me like that." Her exciment for this detail confused Megan even more, she didn't understand why the amusement for such normality.

"It's just a silly way to cut your name." She tried to defend herself, tried to rest the importance Lillian was putting for this.

The air howler held a smile those words wouldn't tear. "In the morning you felt comfortable with our hugs and affections, and know you're giving us nicknames." InΒ  Lillian's world, this meaned she was getting fond of them. She didn't hide the happiness nor the pride, even though Megan didn't like it, it was to late, Lillian already considered her as a younger sister.

She understood what she was trying to explain now, but she couldn't accept it.

It wasn't true, was it?

Had she grew closer to them? Had she opened up with them without even realizing it? Did she really care for them more than what she thought she did? Maybe her biggest fear was becoming a reality. Luckily her thoughts were interrupted by a portal opening in the middle of the living room. Tyler and Stefan emerged from it.

"God, I still don't get used to that." She jumped in her seat with the sudden appearence, holding the bowl tightly in her fingers. Lillian let out a shaky laugh.

" Forgive me." Stefan didn't mean to startle her.

"It's okay, I guess you're coming to see Megan, so I'll leave you to it." She got up and smiled at Megan, leaving the space for just the three of them to share.

" Hi." Megan showed a big smile at their sight, getting up from her spot and giving them a hug she needed.

"Hi baby" Tyler murmured back. " You look well." It was a total lie that he didn't even try to disguise.

"I feel better, thanks for your concern." She barked back with sarcasm.

"Great." Stefan played along. He sighed when he saw her neck. "I'm going to kill that bastard." He let out through clenched teeth, delicately caressing the girl's neck with his hand.

"Well you will have to wait in line, there are many of us who want the same thing."

----
Megan returned alone to the den after eating out with Tyler and Stefan. She decided to walk around and stoped at the game room when she saw Liam and Spencer playing a video game. She prefered them at the moment.

" Hi." She took a seat next to Liam on the couch.

"Hey Megs." They knowledged back without taking their eyes off the screen. That's what she needed, sweet nothing, just the company.Β  Maybe Lillian wasn't so lost with her words after all, the team certaintly had an effect on Megan.

----
The next day Megan was going to the laboratory for her routine check-up with Dr. Davis, since she joined the team he informed her that these checks were done with the intention of being aware of the status of each member of the team, so she got used to have these reviews twice a week.

Upon arrival, she noticed Doc in his regular place next to his desk, she entered the laboratory and took her regular position on the bed, she also greeted Doc.

"Well Megan, we'll start with the blood samples." He adressed with a smile and readying the syringes for the process. She nodded and adjusted her arm so that access was easier.

To be honest, Megan never liked laboratory things, she had one in her old home just because sometimes it was necessary, but they brought back very bad memories. She was also not fond of people putting devices on her or having substances extracted from her body. Davis knew about this, for that reason he tried to make all these checks as comfortable as possible for her. Once he was done with the blood samples, he continued monitoring vital signs.

"Okay darling, lie down." He ordered and she did what he asked. Davis did a general check on her vital signs and also did a body and brain scan. During the process he could notice her slight discomfort, she had her eyes tightly shut and her breathing was faster than normal. Once he was done with everything, he took the girl's hand in his own."Hey my child, everything is fine, I'm done, open those pretty eyes for me." He whispered sweetly as one hand gently stroked her hair. It took a few seconds but Megan slowly compled to his wishes. "That's right, there's nothing to fear." His warm smile present as he helped Megan sit up on the edge of the bed. He positioned himself in front of her taking both of her hands this time.

"I know, but I can't help all the darkness that comes when I'm here." For her it was ridiculous that after so many times it was still difficult to keep all the bad memories hidden.

"Sometimes darkness is necessary for the light to be seen with more intensity. Do not fear or be ashamed of your past because that is what made you the strong woman you are today." The words and the way he carressed her cheek, made her lean into the touch and enjoy the warmth it brought to her.

Megan smiled and did something neither of them expected, she hugged him. He was surprised by the act, it was the first time that she hugged him, but it didn't bother him and he returned the affection with the same intensity and feeling.

"Thanks Benji, for everything." She whispered.

"Benji?"

"Sorry, it just slipped ." She explained sheepishly upon realizing the nickname she suddenly dropped. He smiled at her reaction.

"I like Benji." He assured. Both were still embraced in each other's arms, they didn't know exactly how long they lasted like this, but they were both comfortable and only let go once they realized it was time for breakfast.
