Brooklyn's P.O.V

I look at my phone while I sit in the tub and it's only 4:30 pm, time is going by so slow. I'm exhausted, the bags under my eyes are ridiculously large. Kadence took me home today, it's gigantic... I wonder what her parents do for a living. I didn't understand why Ellie was so mad at me, what did she mean 'I took Kadence,' god I wish I was so fucking scared. I feel like a victim of everything and I'm messing everything up. I sunk down in the tub further until I heard a slight knock at the door.

"Hey..." Kadence voice echoed throughout the bathroom.

"I just wanted to tell you I made dinner so when you are uh... done, come join me."

I gave a soft smile, she was still standing outside the bathroom door and I saw her shadow creep on the edges when she left the crack in the door.

"Okay... thanks..." I responded

I drained the tub and I love how the small whirlpool forms at the drain. The pain was still going through my side still but simply ignored it. I dried myself off with the towel and slipped into a large blue sweater and sports shorts that covered up the shorts make me look like I'm not wearing any shorts that Kadence gave me.

The sweater had a strong smell of Kadence's scent, sweet and mild but also homey and safe. I flipped my hair to the side and opened up the door with the welcoming smell of an actual meal. I followed the scent out her room and down the stairs. The house is large, it's white with a light grey, the railings down the stairs were glass, and the tiles were smooth hard grey rock. A giant dog came running at me and jumped on top causing me to fall backward and probably breaking my sorry ass.

I was on the ground with panic and the dog barked loudly, he looked friendly though... I heard footsteps coming down the hall on the first floor, they were normal and not a quickened pace. Kadence face popped out of the corner, she giggled in a childish way.

"This... um... your dog?" I asked trying to be amusing.

"Yeah! sorry, this is Jester." she laughed.

"Come here buddy!" she called his name in a high pitch voice.

The big dog, the so-called Jester, got off from on top and went to Kadence. She came over and helped me up, she lightly put one hand behind my back and I felt my stomach flutter. She then scooped me up quickly as if it was no big deal. She was so toned and fit, I mean she's perfectly fit, and I? I was perfectly not fit. I was just... skinny, and thin.

She brought me over to a kitchen stool and sat me down gently, on the table was a divine dish of shrimp pasta waiting for me, I was drooling over it. Most of her kitchen was granite. There was an island in the middle, a huge stove set on the right, a large silver fridge on the left, and windows surrounding the room.

I wish my home was like this... it's like you open up one cabinet and I see an empty space. I open up the fridge and there are only a couple bottles of water. I look our side table in my house and there would be alcohol, loads of rum and whiskey. She sat on top of the kitchen island across from where I was with her plate. We sat there eating quietly.

"...What happened" I mumbled after taking a bite of this divine plate.

She sat quiet and swallowed.

"I actually don't quite know, do you ... remember anything?"

"I remember Ellie yelling at me," I said recalling.

"You drowned," she said quickly and paused.

"You drowned because you fell in..."

"Brooklyn..." she said my name, my heart dropped when she said it.

It wasn't a bad feeling it was comforting one.

"Who gave you that bruise?" she said giving me a stern look.

Oh, that. I shouldn't tell her. No one can know, he'll lash out at me if he figured out. I stayed quiet. She'll hate me, she'll judge me, and she'll leave. Everyone does...

"Brooklyn..." she said with a soft voice.

There, she said it again, saying my name.

"Did Ellie give you that bruise?"

Ellie? What? No, she probably made it worse though when I fell in in the water... but no.

"No, she didn't... Don't be mad at her, she didn't do anything wrong." I said

"She didn't do anything wrong? She made you fall in the pool!" she said angrily

"Yeah, but... I don't, I-I don't know..." I stuttered.

She gave a sigh and finished her plate. She went up to the counter where I was sitting and put her hands up in surrender.

"Okay... sorry, I didn't mean to sound mean. I'm just confused."

"I mean I-It's okay... can I... um, take a nap? I'm really sleepy and feel really drowsy."

"Yeah! of course... come on." I hopped off the stool and the pain was still there.

We walked up the stairs and into a guest bedroom.

"What are you doing?" Kadence laughed.

"Oh, I just thought since its a separated bedroom... and you know. I don't want to um intrude, your... room." I mumbled.

"Brooklyn. I don't mind, come sleep in mine. I won't bother you. I'll just watch a show."

I gave a small smile back and nodded my head slowly agreeing. We headed to her room and she laid in her bed, she patted the empty spot next to her. I sat down next to her, got under the fluffy white covers and laid my head down gently on the thing that felt like clouds. I faced her, while she flipped the television on.

"Kadence..." I whispered lightly

She looked over with a concerned face as if something was wrong.

"Can I stay the night here..."

She gave me this angelic smile, god she's so... beautiful.

"of course."

I closed my eyes and took in a large breath smelling the room that was drenched in her scent.

Hm. Kadence...

Kadence P.O.V

I watched her fall asleep, the way she said my name though, she was so innocent and soft. The way it came out of her mouth as if I could listen to her repeat it. She wrapped herself in my covers comfortably happy. I flipped through the channels more finding nothing to watch, UHG.

I looked down again and her cheeks and nose are a cute light shade of pink, she's definitely warm again. She looks so soft, and the way her hair falls infant of her face is cute, and actually kind of making me a little jealous. Her little strand of hairs get to kiss her face every day, wait for what?

No! Kadence! come on. You don't like her like that. I cant be a lesbian, I mean not that its a bad thing! I just... I don't like girls... do I? Thinking about it, I've never really dated a guy. Oh God! Ellie kissed me! What was that about?! Yes, I'm still mad that she hurt Brooklyn but seriously... what was happening.

My phone started to go off again, I really didn't like my phone going off as much. I used to never get any messages.

I looked down at my phone which was on the side table next to my bed. I see a couple of messages from the group, then ... of course. A separate text message from Ellie.

"Kadence." 3:35 pm

"Kadence, can we please just talk." 3:50pm

"Please" 4:02 pm

"We need to talk." 5:27 pm

"Screw it, I'm coming over." 6:45 pm.

Wait, what the fuck. She can't just come over because of one she didn't ask, two I don't want to talk to her. Oh god, Brooklyn is sleeping. She's going to wake-

The doorbell rung loudly throughout the house.

I looked down at Brooklyn and she was still sound asleep... that's good. I ran downstairs on my tip toe, don't ring the doorbell again, don't ring the doorbell again...

Before I could stop it, she rang the doorbell again.

Fuck, she's going to wake her up. I flung the door open but making sure it didn't hit the wall. Her finger was near the button of the doorbell again and I gave it a strong death stare but sighing in relief being glad she didn't. I stepped outside and cracked the door open so I wouldn't lock myself out.

"What do you want," I said with a bitter tone.

"I want to talk," Ellie said.

She looks soberer than she did this afternoon.

"About what?" I rolled my eyes

"What happened today..."

"What about it."

"I'm sorry... I just, Brooklyn randomly popped up into our life, and you pushed her in the group."

"I don't think it was that," I said slowly.

"W-What do you mean?"

"Ellie. You kissed me!" I nearly yelled.

She didn't say anything.

"Ellie, are you... gay?"

"I-I don't know, and I don't know why I kissed you! It just happened!"

"Just happened?! It doesn't just happen. Yeah, you might've been drunk but that doesn't change anything."

"Kadence."

"No! tell me! I don't care if you are gay, but why did you kiss me?!"

She stood quietly again. I got impatient.

"Ellie! Tell me wh-"

"Because I love you!"

I was cut off, and those words came out of her mouth. I would've understood 'like' but 'love'? I walked inside pacing back and forth, Ellie followed behind me shutting the door loudly.

"Why are you walking away from me!"

I was raging mad, I don't know why she can't like me! I don't like her back! I was pacing not paying any attention to her voice.

"Kadence! Listen to me!"

"No! This can't be happening, you can't love me."

"What do you mean I can't love you?! You're my best friend, don't tell me you don't have any feelings for me!"

I didn't respond

"Kadence, I love you!"

"No Ellie! I can't love you back because I'm in love with someone else!"

She didn't respond, and god why did I say it like that... I stopped pacing and looked at Ellie, but she wasn't looking at me. She was looking to her left where the stairs were, and there stood Brooklyn...
