Brooklyn's P.O.V

I felt the sudden sensation of Kadence kissing me around my face, my eyes were closed but obviously, hers wasn't. She was wide-awake, I started to giggle and hide under her covers.

"It's Christmas!" She nearly yelled.

I gave out a groan and took the blankets off from my face, I checked my phone to see what time it was and it was nine in the morning. Why Kadence? Just why? I wanted to sleep in but knowing her she seemed a bit too excited for Christmas yet it was nice.

I had almost an hour left to sleep but I don't think she was letting down anytime soon.

"Do you have anything to do today?" I asked groggily.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up, I leaned my back against her headboard and let out a yawn.

"Nope! I was hoping I could have you all today. Your gift is somewhere but we have to go to some places."

"Aren't the places and stores all closed though? I mean it's Christmas."

"You will see." She smiled.

We got dressed easily and went down the stairs. No one was home, in fact, everyone was working today in the hospital and I mean Jacob, Caroline, and her parents. Kadence let out a small gasp once she walked through the kitchen and started to walk backward back into the living room.

"No way..." She mumbled.

I gave her a confused looked and followed closely behind.

"What is it...?"

"Look."

She pointed towards the fireplace and a giant Christmas tree was nearly touching the high ceiling. The lights were glimmering on it, the candy canes were set, and wait... did they strung popcorn to it? I've never seen that before.

"Christmas just got ten times better!" She yelled.

She took my hand and we were out the door. Kadence walked over the passenger seat side and opened the door for me. She let out a laugh and smiled at me, well she seems excited. We settled into her car that still had the scent of leather lingering around.

After Ellie's party everyone was starting to leave apparently most of them are going out of town and when I mean most of them I mean all of them. Ellie is going to London for some fashion thing with her mom, Donavon is heading to the Dominican Republic. Jamie is going to Greece but will meet up with Ellie later on at the show. The cousins Luke and Kyle are going to go snowboarding up in Switzerland.

Kadence and I, on the other hand, will be staying in town, I somewhat feel guilty that maybe I was the reason she didn't want to go on vacation. The break was nearly over but after today New Years is right around the corner.

She pulled up near a dock along the bay, which was a bit far but not as far as the hill she took me to. A strong muscular valet man took Kadence car away to go park it which wasn't far away. I looked around to see the snow still falling lightly, it was beautiful especially over the bay.

Christmas lights were strung up against the dock and we slowly made our way down the middle. Her soft hands were interlocked with mine and I stood close by to her, the cold icy wind was blowing against us. Looking straight ahead I saw something shining bright, it was high enough where I couldn't be able to reach it.

We slowly walked closer to the lights and a large boat appeared, did I say boat? More like a yacht. Was this hers? I felt my jaw-drop and suddenly I felt small, I mean the boat was enormous.

"After you beautiful." She smiled.

Another muscular man appeared and took my hand so I wouldn't fall into the water. I was still gazing at the boat.

"Ms. Lepar, welcome aboard to the Golden D."

The man said looking at Kadence.

"Sir Donavon has appointed you guys to be on the suite floor and your table is waiting for your arrival."

Donavon? Was this his? I glanced over to Kadence and she politely thanked him and looked at me with her wide smile, she was really excited. We walked inside and we took off our coats from the warm embrace of heat within the yacht.

The man opened the tall cut wooden doors and a table for two was set, rose petals were laying upon it, a fire was going. Candles were diligently set around the place and above we could see the snow falling. Kadence walked over to the table and pulled the seat out for me, as I sat the man pulled the seat out for her.

"Kadence, this place is... huge," I stated.

"Donavon let us borrow it."

"Wait, so this is his...?"

She nodded her head in silence and took a sip from her glass of water. I keep forgetting how insanely rich they were, I knew Donavon dad own's businesses but this was different. I shouldn't be so surprised though considering his house looked like it was from the west coast even though we were in the east.

We ate our food silently for the first couple minutes but soon started into a conversation, she was telling me about cheerleading competition. I never knew there were so many rules to it, but she told me she doesn't really think they will qualify to the end. Considering how the team was lacking and how many of them are being kicked off.

"So... I have decided on something." She said.

I dropped my fork that was digging into the salad and looked up, I tilted my head waiting for her to go on.

"I think I'm going to go to Juilliard." She said slowly.

"Kadence, that's great!"

"Yeah, it is except how is my dad going to react. My mom obviously supports me and so does Jacob but having my fathers permission seems big to me. I don't want to disappoint him even though he already is."

"He should learn to understand that this is your life. Yes, he'll not agree but I think... He will soon realize that this is your future and that you know what's best for yourself." I smiled.

She took my hand from across the table and smiled.

"Thank you... For being there Brooklyn."

"Of course..."

Being with Kadence today made me really happy and Ellie's party also made me happy. It was a Christmas like never before! I just really hope she likes her present.

"Alright! So I have a present for you." She cleared her voice.

"Babe, you've already done so much for me. With the secret Santa and being with me this holiday. I really don't need anything else..."

She let out a small laugh and motioned her hand to the large guy who seemed more like a security guard. He came over with a small bag in his hands and left afterward, the bag had small paper tissue sticking out from the sides and had the brand name Cartier written on it.

She passed the bag casually across the table and nudged her head in order for me to open it. I gave her a small grin and scrunched my nose while I smiled.

"Go on, open it."

I took the tissue paper out of the way and set it to the side, as I begin to open it a small thin box was in it. I glanced upwards towards her and she continued to make eye contact with the bag as if she was hoping I would like her gift. She seemed more nervous at this rate.

I set the bag to the side and slowly opened the box. My eyes widen and I started to feel tense, the little box held a perfectly sized necklace. There were two small circles linked together and one of the circles was encrusted in diamonds while the other was a simple gold band.

The thing must've been thousands! My jaw slowly dropped.

"Kadence... I-"

"Do you like it?" She said cutting me off.

"Yes! Of course but it must've cost you a fortune!"

"Stop, don't think about the price it's nothing to worry about."

"Thank you..." I mumbled.

She got up out of her chair and slowly made her way to me.

"Here, let me help you put it on."

I gave her both ends of the necklace and swooped my hair out of the way to help her put it on. I was still in awe how beautiful it was and not just that but how beautiful Kadence was looking today. She looked absolutely ravishing.

I felt a slow kiss on my shoulder and whisper in my ear.

"I love you, Brooklyn."

Her hot breath touched my skin and soon goosebumps started to rise, I let out a sigh with a smile.

"I love you too."

The man soon came back in silently.

"Excuse me miss but your phone has been going off non-stop."

He handed the phone to her nicely and Kadence soon picked up.

"Yes, Jacob? What? Yeah, we're on our way home."

I heard the distinctive talk over the phone but not as loud enough to where I could hear it. She turned around giving me a wide grin in excitement and hung up the phone.

"Jacob got the file."

All of a sudden my heart began to drop. He found my Mom's file... The closure was today, I finally get to find out more. I looked over at the clock and it was an hour past noon.

"Let's go back home, he's waiting for us there."

The car ride went by slowly, and I started to become nervous. My palms started to sweat, the curiosity was killing me and the answer was finally here. After mourning for years I can finally know.

The trees were passing slowly, the snow was landing softly and the slow turns that we made were even slower. I felt my body shaking, I guess you can say I'm scared.

We finally made it back to Kadence's house and we walked inside to see everyone home for once. Mr. Lepar didn't take a glance towards us but the other two did. We walked into the living room and sat down where Jacob and Caroline were, her mom slowly went up the stairs without a word.

Jacob passed us the file with a large smile.

"Are you ready Brooklyn?" Kadence asked.

"Y-Yeah, but can you open it?"

I couldn't look at the file, I was terrified at this rate. I could feel my heartbeat through my ears, my face burning as if tears were about to fall, and the silence kills me. She soon opened the file and Jacob sat next to her in curiosity. Hearing the page turn made me cringe and felt like another hammer was about to come crashing down.

I closed my eyes and waited to hear something.

"Wait... What?" Jacob mumbled.

"No, that can't be," Kadence said.

"What is it?" Caroline asked.

Everyone sat in silence again except the pages begin to shuffle roughly. I kept my eyes closed and my heart was pounding in fear.

Flip.

Flip.

Flip.

The pages kept going.

I couldn't stand it anymore, I took the paper out of their hands.

"Wait, Brooklyn," Kadence called out.

I looked through the end to see the time of death 10:03 pm, cause of death was a stroke... She had a stroke... Tears began to fall hard. I covered my mouth with one of my hands and had the other holding the paper.

The doctors were...

No.

What.

I bent over in the chair and started to cry even harder.

"Brooklyn..." Kadence whispered.

"Don't!" I yelled.

Everyone had their eyes set on me and so did Mr. Lepar.

"Brooklyn, please just let me-"

"Just don't!"

Everyone was quiet and Kadence and Jacob were now standing, Caroline still looked confused as ever.

"Your parents... Were her doctors!" I yelled again.

"Brooklyn," Jacob said.

"No! Stop!"

"They killed her! On their hands!" I said breaking through my sobs.

I threw the paper at Kadence not caring what she had to say and ran upstairs.

A/N: I realized this chapter isn't as long as I expected to be, but yes... intense chapter.
